@jarivuorinen3878 Жыл бұрын
@@avlehtine There's angular velocity and mass on the outer edge and it's quite substantial inertia at 10k+ rotations per minute. Grinder disks usually snap when working because it comes to a sudden stop, when the material you are cuttin pinches the blade. Most grinder discs can bend quite a bit, it prematurely uses up the disk but usually doesn't break it.
@jarivuorinen3878 Жыл бұрын
To answer to myself, most cutting DISCS break when they get pinched by the material you're cutting. It's the reason why circular saws have a blade to separate the material, to prevent kickback. For angle grinders similar pinching destroys the disk or stalls the grinder

@jo-han Жыл бұрын
All dust is eventually like smoking, keep breathing it long enough for high enough concentration and you will develop lung cancer. Whether we live long enough to experience it is of course another question but research is quite clear that the variance in is quite big in how sensitive some people are for lung cancer. Some people are quite resistant and won't develop lung cancer even when smoking (smoke is also mostly dust) for 120 years, but other people can be so sensitive that daily vacuuming for 20 years is already a risk factor. The issue is, that you won't know beforehand how sensitive your lungs are.

I had a cut-off wheel explode on a disc grinder once, took me almost a year to get full functionality back in my thumb because a wheel shard hit it so hard I felt no pain, only pressure. That's when you know shit is bad, when a red waterfall pours from your hand but you feel nothing. Make sure your grinding/cutting discs are not expired, the glue that holds the abrasive material together degrades over time. I didn't know this.

@@johnturner4400 I miss Channel much safer usually means the chance of death is close to 50% instead of 80 or 90%. Whenever the diamond disc was brought out the chance of immediate catastrophic failure was high. Because when something like a diamond fails it fails very dramatically. And when you have something spinning at well over 1,000 RPM dramatic failures are not good for life and limb

I had a lot of old pipes and rebar to cut up and from what I read kzbin.infoUgkxPDBfLu68o58Aw85O_J-zIFfjJARBhp-3 this would be the tool for the job. Since I had never used one, I watched a couple of youtube videos and I'm so glad I did. Some really good safety tips, which I followed, and this tool did a splendid job. One good thing to know is the weight of the tool puts just about the right amount of pressure on the metal I was cutting, so I didn't have to use a lot of pressure, which is more likely to jam the tool. It made fast work of my job.
