Historically bringing in the police to stop protests at Universities is a horrible idea. The presence of police ( especially USA police who are in full military gear) changes peaceful protest to tense and adversarial...seen it happen. It radicalises students who might never have joined protests.

@@Irishtradchannel Do you want to know what our plan for the day was at UT? We had planned a walkout which would then be followed by a few guest speakers, a study break, and a pizza handout. That was what we had planned. Pretty peaceful if you ask me. You wanna know when it turned violent? When the police who are quite literally supposed to protect us began tackling us, arresting our peers, and threatening us with random arrests until we all left. We didn't leave. In the end, they arrested about 80 of us and ended up leaving. Today we're planning to actually protest.

Today Owen I was listening to a professor in Australia who was a student in the 60s in America protesting against the Vietnam war and he said the same thing happened then.
