USA men should make use of all relay opportunity, when it comes to 4x100. I believe the Mix 4x100 will be greatly entertaining & top athletes will take part.

We should think about those who have been on relay teams and which legs they run best in. Along with their teamwork makes the dreamwork mindset. I would say Christian Coleman, TeeTee Terry, Kyree King, and Sha’Carri Richardson. All of them are in the same track club, so they’d be able to practice it consistently. If they run where they end with a man then I would say Melissa Jefferson, Kyree King, Gabby Thomas, and Noah Lyles or Fred Kerley. They would definitely need to practice though.
@headlibrarian1996Ай бұрын
@@JasIsDWoMann Timing for incoming runners will be way off in the sex change handoffs. The women won’t be used to how fast the men reach the relay zone and will probably leave very late, which is almost as bad as a sketchy handoff in terms of how much it slows you down.

I did this event (mixed 4 x 100m relay) along with the mixed 4 x 800m relay and the 400 meter dash in a high school track meet (in 1997). The males went first and third and the females went second and fourth in the relay events. If the women can handle the men sprinting up on them in the mixed 4 x 100m relay (check the mixed 4 x 400m relay races for those who doubt it could happen), I think the fastest time of the year can be a 38.90 in the event.
@SHT-kk7srАй бұрын
I would just take the 3rd/4th and 4th/5th fastest finishers in US trials in both men and women. Get them to train everyday till the world championship race. Build up that baton passing rhythm, confidence and chemistry. I think intense 30-day training will be sufficient. At least those who didn't qualify for the open 100m, get a chance to win a medal or perhaps set the world record time.

Gabby, Coleman , Sha'Carri, Noah could definitely break the wr in this event, just getting the baton around is the issue
@Jaedub86Ай бұрын
Gabby really isn’t as fast as y’all think she is. Her 100m speed is kinda mid for professionals and after this past Olympics her baton skills are now in question. I think at this point USA needs to open the relays to the 100m &110m hurdlers and the 200m runners. Brittany Brown and McKensie Long are faster than Gabby Thomas in 100m Gabby is the faster 200m runner.
@kc5466Ай бұрын
That order would be bad. If they’re doing women 1st and 3rd leg. Shacarri has to be 1st leg and gabby 3rd. That curve would cause havoc for Shacarri and gabby is great with curves.

@caseysmith544Ай бұрын
It is probably creating these relays becuse some countries actually practice the hand off in relays with those people already selected long enough ahead of time for the events in some countries and not just thrown together the way the USA does it now. In the past I remember that athletes in the USA Trained for the relay and was way ahead in men's and women's relay events but the way the USA picks its Relay it is like they expect the USA second or third level of runners to be as good as Say Jamaca's top elites who do both individual and a relay.
@stevie586Ай бұрын
I do feel this mixed relay will be the nosebleed, but will be tons of fun. I also agree they’ll likely use throwaway runners for this instead of our best, although our USA B-Team is like an A-Team (or better) elsewhere. I feel like a hot USA Team could be Christian Coleman, ShaCarri, Jenna/TT, then Noah! Anyone can say what they want, but I still do NOT like Gabby on that third leg…she’s powerful and fast, but she’s not good with the handling the stick at all. Jenna Prandini is fire on a bend!
@Jaedub86Ай бұрын
I can already tell you who it will be… TT Terry, Melissa Jefferson, Kenny B, and Kyree King (or Courtney Lindsey) correction I guess Melissa and Kenny are out they signed with grand slam I believe. So I guess Celera Barnes or Aleia Hobbs for the women and Christian Coleman for the men.

@@kc5466 Jacious Sears ran 10.77 once and only ran sub 11 one other instance running 10.96.. she ain’t an obvious favorite. @kc5466Ай бұрын
@@Jaedub86 well she ran 10.77 then haven’t raced again until sec’s when she was on her way to a championship until she pulled up. And the eventual winner ran 10.91 and Sears was well ahead of her so that definitely was gonna be a 10.8 low or sub 10.8 for Sears. So like I said if her injury doesn’t affect her ability she’s legitimately second best in the US time wise. There’s no other American running now that can run sub 10.8 besides Shacarri. Jefferson is the closest and should be able to do it but until I see it I’ll favor the one who actually did it.

The US could easily win if its athletes weren’t lazy bums who won’t practice handoffs. The US does more relays in HS and college than any other country, so its sprinters should have the most relay handoff experience, yet you don’t see evidence of it in WC and Olympic events.

See what? I see no evidence in the quality of their handoffs the additional experience these slackers should have. It’s like they forgot how to do it right and don’t care to put in any effort to fix it. France once took the 4x100 WR from the US with a quartet of runners none of whom had a ghost of a chance making a world sprint final. Perfectly executed handoffs gave them the record.
@kc5466Ай бұрын
@@headlibrarian1996 what record does France have over the US in relays? And many sprinters have a certain leg they do consistently in a relay in school and college and when they become a pro they get put in a different leg that they’re not too farmiliar with. And relays are not a priority for them in the pros. So they will never be able to gel seamlessly considering they only got about a couple days to work on it together since they’re all in different camps.

@@headlibrarian1996 well nations with sprinters that have no shot at making it to the individual finals actually make better baton passes than the other countries. Because they can actually practice the entire time. And run the rounds with the same sprinters. As for the US they do have multiple sprinters that will make the final. And they don’t know the final quartet sometimes hours before. That’s why Japan and China do so well in relays. They have nothing else to do but practice relays.

The mixed relays are just politically-motivated crap. No, you say? Then explain why, after allowing any running order in the initial years, organizers changed the rules to male-female-male-female. Then ask yourself what happened in the 2019 Worlds in Doha. Poland ran m-m-f-f, which ended up pitting a lone female against seven males. Starting out with an approximately 50-meter lead, the female was overtaken by all of the male runners in dramatic fashion. The event showcased the inferiority of female runners compared to males. It was a political disaster, and was ultimately “outlawed”, as this was exactly the image that promoters were attempting to dispel.
