Toss American psychics in Japan and see if they can go beyond “J”, “M” names and guess an actual name, even as if they toss possible ones, cold reading style. Faith is the most dangerous concept ever invented. Education Critical thinking Empathy
@LS-ys8nrАй бұрын
Welcome to life. Faith is an inescapable part of it. If you take your car to a mechanic, you have no control of what they do to it when you aren’t around. But you take your car in anyway because you have FAITH that the mechanics know what they’re doing. You basically have no choice if you can’t fix it yourself. Same with surgery. When the doctors put you under, you have no choice but to have FAITH that they will do what needs done successfully. This applies to so many other things in everyday life, because humans actually don’t have much control of what’s going on around us. Also, education, critical thinking, and empathy are part of life too. Faith doesn’t erase them, and faith itself is not bad. But maybe it should be a last resort. Or just used wisely
@ObservantHistorianАй бұрын
@@LS-ys8nr You are deliberately conflating the words "trust" and "faith." What you are describing is NOT the same as religious faith, and you know it. Religious faith is "faith" in the existence of something invisible for which there is no evidence. It is believing in the invisible evidence-free gods of one's own culture, while rejecting the invisible evidence-free gods of other cultures - a fundamental lapse in basic reasoning. It is believing in things in the absence of ANY evidence (as opposed to religious assertion and conjecture paraded as _evidence)_ and in the face of overwhelming evidence against it. It is believing in the power of prayers that are never answered. It is an exercise in rationalizing impossible claims. That's rather different from trusting a car mechanic or surgeon. First, the mechanic and the surgeon _exist._ Second, I don't need to just brainlessly have "faith" in the outcome. Based on the _actual_ evidence of their past _performance_ , you can make an informed decision about who to trust with your car or surgery. Because of experience and history, I can _trust_ that one mechanic won't think that putting a dab of holy water on the hood will fix it, while another advocates for the laying on of hands and burning incense, and yet another wants to take it in for an exorcism...I don't merely have to have "faith" that they aren't medieval nitwits. On the other hand, _performance_ is a standard that NO "god of faith" can meet - they don't even show up to work, much less ever perform as advertised. Nor does the word "god" even have _any_ agreed or understood meaning among the untold billions of faithful and the thousands of mutually incompatible gods and mythologies proposed throughout history - as opposed to mechanics who AGREE on where the car was manufactured and how to repair it AND who actually _can_ repair it. There is a reason why we _trust_ mechanics, while the ONLY reason for believing in the gods of one's own culture is "faith." Your comment is a very disingenuous and tiresome word game that is often put forward by apologists, in that way that religious people are forced to engage in intellectual dishonesty to argue a baseless rationalization for believing in the ridiculous. You need to ask yourself why you need to be dishonest to try to convince yourself you're right.
@robgillan2493Ай бұрын
@@LS-ys8nr Its not just faith with those mechanics or doctors or other jobs though. Its schooling and training and regulations and certification and known experience and word of mouth and so on that gives people that idea that they know what they are doing because its actually their job. That is absolutely nothing like having faith in a god in any way. Faith in a god 100% has been trying to and succeeding in erasing education, critical thinking and empathy.

I was at a Uri Gellar show at a university in the middle 1970's. I was in the 3rd row. He passed something small to the audience and asked for one of the audience members to hide it on their person and he would find it from the stage. The person sitting behind me hid it in my long hair. It took Geller less than 5 minutes to tell the audience where it was. I thought maybe he had a mirror somewhere but i learned from this video his wife was probably in the back of the room and😊 signaled to him where it was. I was also on stage and he told us to close our eyes and then said some "magic words" and told us we could not open our eyes. i opened mine and the guy I went with told me he could see my open my eyes. He did not say anyone else opened his/her eyes. The rest must have been under the power of suggestion. This was years before cordless microphones so I doubt he has an ear piece. Besides, when he invited audience members on the stage for him to use psychic powers on, I looked him over really well. I thought for a few seconds he was going to excuse me from the stage. I was a science major and my Dad was a scientist so I was skeptical. I would call the guy I went to the show with and tell him what I learned watching this video but he died during the 2020 Pandemic. He was a retired nuclear chemist. He was watching for tricks, too, as was I

This is a wonderful series/compilation indeed. I love the fact that you've made these and that you've compiled it into one video. I struggled to watch one at a time and kind of wanted to but, I felt it's better and more enjoyable to watch the whole series all at once. And amazing work on the whole series, from episode to episode. My personal favourite part of cold reading is that when the scammer is trying to fish for a dead person they ALWAYS go for illnesses, diseases, or trouble walking. My neighbour is a man with a letter in his name that has a sound, and he is like many older people: OBSESSED with how the weather affects one or other ailment 🤣And he can go ON AND ON about how other old people around him have this or that. But eh... how is that information that ANY dead person aside from my still living neighbour identifies with? I would love to have someone do a cold reading on me. If they start waffling about pain, cancer, or heart failure, I know it's not a relative of mine. I have a lot of memories with deseased loved ones and I know that if they still existed and communicated, they'd share one of those memories, even perhaps a memory from their death bed, but it would never be about their illness. Unless of course if they died because of me 🤣 That would be hilarious 🤣 "I"m getting a: Hey d&ckhead! Remember how you would always let me enter a church before you, and that you said that if a god exists lighting would kill me before I'd step into the church? Guess where I'm at!" 🤣 That's me mum alright! ❤🤣 My super heathen mum 😈🤘

I DONT EXPECT anyone to believe what Im going to say... Back in the late 90's there was a psychic on a radio station and she was taking calls. I called so I could prove she was fake. (Coworkers around me were listening). There was NO pre-questions and I didn't tell her my whole name. All I asked was, "Tell me about love." I was vague on purpose. She didn't ask me anything at all. She did say somewhat soon I would have issues choosing between 2 men. I would eventually choose one and be with him for a short time. Later on I would be with one guy for a very, very long time. I lived in Nevada/Arizona desert and had absolutely no plans to leave the desert. I loved it there. She then told me I would be moving to a northern state. Meet a man that I will stay with and not return to the southern desert again. I was convinced she was wrong. I didn't believe I would ever move away or north at all. Ever... Turns out, in 2000, I ended up having issues choosing between 2 men. I chose one and was with him till 2001. Then alone till 2005 when I did move up to Oregon, not planning to stay long. 2009, I met someone and ended up staying in Oregon, buying a home together and have no plans of moving south, to this day. I am still amazed how correct she was. I completely thought she was a fake. I didn't have a lot of relationships so her being this right with absolutely no information or the internet, is amazing. With my own self, I do know things before it happens but it happens once in awhile, not everyday or in a whim. I never tell anyone anything about themselves. But I can choose black/red playing cards correctly, 10 out of 10 every time. How? I dont know......

You found that convincing? Come on!
@azleenie127 күн бұрын
@Nocturnalux Then explain it.. That's what I thought. You can't. Plus, I did say I don't expect anyone to believe me but you didn't get that subtle hint aparently.

I just realized that the cartoon images you show have a very particular kind of eyes for each character. The eyes are all very gentle and portray a visual kindness and calming look. Makes you want to believe everything that is said. I mean i,do believe what you,are saying but the eyes say it better so thanks for the eyes...lol

I've had my tarot deck for 34yrs. They're practically mashed potatoes, they're so worn. I take them out when asked at parties, I've never charged a penny. Just funsies. I am very very good, and I don't purposely try and trick people. I'm just naturally intuitive, apparently, and I'm very good at creating a cohesive story from what I know those cards are intended to define. It's not magic, it's not hard. There is enough variation in each interpretation that you can always make it make sense. I shock myself sometimes, with how clearly it all lays out, but it's simple common sense.

My mother went to a well-known psychic named Valerie Morrison when I was 5 or 6 years old. She told my mother that I would be "nothing but trouble" and possibly incarcerated as an adult! She also said that I would never be close or care about my mom. I suspect it was because my mother told her I was adopted and she pulled all the stereotypes out of her @ss. My mom 100% believed in this, which drove a wedge between us. Until the day she died, she would bring it up whenever she was upset with me. Even as none of it came true, she still thought it would someday.

About 15 years ago I thought I would look in to all this as I always need evidence to believe something.. I bought many books and obviously the old victorian suggestion tricks have always been at play.. I heard that there was a good psychic in my area very well know and a family member had already been so I made an appointment using my middle name and no surname. I turned up and the correct time and said nothing. A greeting, I sat there and didn't give any indication of anything. I let her go on for about 45nmins, I never made any facial expressions nothing. This woman told me about my father in law and his life which I knew about, she told me about a close friend who had died in a car accident, I was a school with this girl friend and she had a special name for me, she gave me the name. My wife's mother had died when my wife was 18 months old, she gave me a message about my wife and her older sister and if that wasn't enough she told me about my grandfather who I never met who lived in Windsor, and he was also in the army... There is no way this woman could of know any of this.. She was either a kind reader or the real deal... Oh just one other thing, my girl friend who had died was killed in a car crash and she told me the name of the driver and asked if I could get a message to him as he survived.. I was a believer from then on.. I didn't need any more proof.. Regards JJ

Please feel free to disregard this comment if you'd prefer, but if you don't mind entertaining my curiosity, i had this question. When you set up the appointment, do you remember if you provided some type of contact information for yourself (e.g., a phone number)? That obviously wouldn't prove that she did use any hot reading techniques, but a piece of information like that, paired with an internet search, could hypothetically have made it possible for her to know your identity and do some research beforehand.

My mother told me that she visited a psychic when she was newly pregnant. The psychic told my mom that there was two, and that one of them will die early, and that the other one will become her favourite child. ... 7 months later my mother gave birth twins, and 3 months later my little sister died. And after her death my little brother was special to her. I can't say that my mom in some way mis-rember this, or actually BS'd this. But it happened. My sis died as an baby, and my brother didn't.
