In this situation, we are talking about the epidermis which is the layer of skin that provides a waterproof protection and produces your skin tone. It has 4 to 5 layers of skin, which probably means that Tess is right and about 2 layers of skin came off (by the way, altogether the skin has around 7 layers, thatis including the epidermis, dermis AND hypodermis) :)

I had the same accident as Louis did with my longboard, that feeling when you're losing balance and just know that you're going to fall at that speed is undescribable. I fell on my head and got brain concussion and also lost some skin on my hand and knee. Louis was kind of lucky he fell on the side of his arm. Always wear protection.. I know you might think it looks stupid but it could save your life :)

Elizabeth Herrera haha yeah, it was many summers ago. Luckily I didn't need to go to the hospital and the old man who ran over me didn't break any ribs. It was both our faults, I didn't walk on the right side of the road and he didn't honk, plus he rode quite fast. He felt pretty bad when he saw how I ran to him making sure he was fine when I was bleeding so much.

I hope you get better Louis, I remember back in 2012 i was going down a giant hill on my penny and stacked it and fell on my back and the whole of my back was bleeding and had so much skin off and i hurt my foot really bad but i didn't go into any "shock" or anything but i do remember it hurting a lot and almost in tears hahaha i just ended up walking home and sleeping a lot... Not trying to brag.

Damn dude you ate it heavy, a word of advice: next time you get speed wobbs crouch down and lean forward, it's a more stable way to ride and it sets you up to roll rather than slide if you do end up having to take a tumble

I got a concussion and was in hospital for 4 hours. I was only just in shock, also at an age way younger than him.

+sian heap I've had 2 or 3 motorcycle crashes worse than this and got up and went on my way once I fixed my bike up. It hurt, I took a lot of painkillers once I got home, but otherwise I didn't go into shock and was fine. I was surprised he went into shock.

There are a number of things/reasons that can cause someone into shock, not necessarily from pain. It's nothing you can control because its a bodily reaction. It's the same thing as when people get lightheaded/dizzy just from seeing their own blood, which is very common. I think most people would go into shock of that accident.
