@@Homoerectus111 I am not talking counterfeit. These same companies subcontract production to legitimate factories which is not carefully investigated. They have code of ethics/conduct yet some factories have much higher production rates now, which would make it easier to sell black market yet authentic goods. Yet now the reports of poorly made products are increasing. Can’t make stuff that supposed to be carefully crafted by hand yet expect it should be done by assembly line timing.

@@judithlondongal1817 - Correct; a lot of these "prestigious" houses have subcontracted to some of the lowest bidders, i.e. diffusion lines. Ralph Lauren, Canali, Brooks Brothers and Burberry, among others, are all guilty of having subcontracted suit lines that are generally weaker quality. And I don't believe the pandemic has played a part in it - you can find anecdotes going back 15 years or more talking about some of the problems with these lines. There are also a number of brands that would have been considered top-tier 10-15 years ago that have fallen in style. Modern Brioni, Burberry and other exclusive lines have taken reputational hits due to contentious rebrandings, i.e. Burberry going in for the "chav" market with obnoxious giant monogrammed scarves and clothing.

My problem with all of these ‘tiers’ is that most of it is just smoke and mirrors and advertising. The real ‘high tier’ stuff is basically just bespoke. So if your ordering bespoke stuff frequently your in the most luxurious tier list. Hermes always triggers me mainly because aloot of their stuff isn’t especially good in anyway, since they usually use chrome-tan leather as opposed to analine leather - the best treated. So for example I prefer Giorgio Armani leather goods over hermes for example, basically because on average they are either equal quality or sometimes better.

Another key item to recognize is how often the brands' respective products go on sale and what contracts they draw with other organizations. Example, Louis Vuitton doesn't have any contracts which allows any store to sell its products. When you buy LV, it's only from the LV store (or the online store). Their products NEVER go on sale, ever! This is why they remain solidified in the upper tiers. Whereas other brands like Gucci has contracts with several department stores in which allows them to discount their products during a specific cycle, however, this doesn't mean you'll see discounted Gucci products in the Gucci store because it's not considered 'prestige'. Another comment I want to point out, I see them in the comments, is the amount of brands that were dismissed from this video. Perhaps the content was limited to fit it all under 10 minutes but we can't dismiss Fauré LePage, YSL, etc. Maybe a part II ? :)

I own a couple items from the Tier 3 brands. The 3A brands at least within the products I've bought have been consistently better quality of manufacture than 3B comparing items in the same price range and like you said 3B offers a lot of cheaper products diluting their reputationand making them feel cheaper across the board. As well I specifically have an issue with Versace. Their customer service is atrocious. They had an item listed incorrectly on their website that I was asking them about. The associate was very rude and unhelpful. I contacted them a second time to hopefully get someone else to help me and they forwarded my query to their "specialist department" and that was the last I heard from them. No follow up at all. That's why I no longer buy from Versace. Unfortunate because I kind of liked their designs, but Balmain is a fine replacement.

Luxury brands are designed to make poor people look like they have money. Rich people spend money on high-quality, well-built items, not expensive, cheaply built luxury goods. One example is men's wallets. A leather men's wallet is well built using full grain leather at around the $100 mark. These $100 wallets don't use liners or plastic parts that will break and wear out sooner. They are often hand stitched with thick marine grade nylon thread that wont break or unravel. Meanwhile, luxury brands use cheaper leathers, machine stitching that will unravel when broke, and plastic coatings and parts.These luxury brand wallets often times cost $500+. Buying luxury doesn't make you look rich it makes you look dull to the rich. Why would someone spend 5-40 times as much on a subpar product just to look important? I have money and would rather spend it on real estate, investments, and products that are well built like Toyota, Jim Green, Popov, etc. BIFL and hold onto your money

There are luxury watches just as expensive as Rolex but still run on a battery and have the same quality as Walmart but with expensive paint. Kitchen knives are interesting, the best ones like Cutco almost don't advertise at all and have lifetime warranties so good you can pass them down to your kids and it will still be covered! As was indicated in the video, the best brands specialize and use the highest quality materials AND manufacturing. Some of them are just ridiculous in price but when you get to that level of wealth you can afford whatever you want and the manufacturers know it and it's "worth it" to the people that care about it. I wouldn't buy a $50k wallet for myself if I was a billionaire but I'd get a $50k purse for my mom because she LOVES her purses.

@@rahimi4762 Generally, male will know that only if the shop at the high end department for men's. Brioni generally is station close to Kiton, Brunello Cucinelli, Canali, Isaia and Zegna.

You might as well call those brands no name brands. They shouldn't even be on the list, let alone above the mass market brands.

Which tier does Ermenegildo Zegna belong? I assume it’s Tier 2 or Tier 1-B. Am I correct?
@TNMUSlC3 жыл бұрын
For men wear. They basically in the same range as Isaia, Canali, Belvest. So that is a Tier 2. Tier 1 Brunello Cucinelli, Brioni, Kiton, Savile Row. Suit wise: Oxxford clothes.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe there are some luxury “brand” where you have to either get invited or know someone who has an established relationship. These types of brands don’t even have outlets or websites and you can only interact with them in person. Again I might be completely wrong about this.

Only desinger brands i like and buy is Burberry and i love LVs leather goods. I noticed that you didn't even mention Gucci. Dont think i would buy gucci. I have however owned a goyard cardholder befofe amd replaced it with a LV coin and card wallet which i absolutely love and have the matching belt for. I only own 3 Burberry items and one of them being the supreme colab also have a tee and sunglasses. Will be addinb to my Burberry collection slowly but surely i really like there simple style ❤

I don't get the appeal of Goyard. Their bags are horrible. The monogram is uglier than Louis Vuitton and Gucci monogram. The bag silhouettes are unoriginal and uninspiring. Difficult to buy doesn't equal prestigious. 🤮

I was looking for luxury men’s clothing and got recommended this video. Almost none of these brands are known for their clothing. And some of the lower tier brands on this list sell overpriced trash. How the hell am I suppose to look exquisite in those goofy outfits from Alexander McQueen?

One very exclusive brand actually two very exclusive brands that you forgot to mention was asidine alea and Oswald boateng and I was really shocked that Gucci and Versace brands like that were were ranked lower on your brand I mean Versace for instance one of my favorite fashion brands is one of the most exclusiv high fashion brands and the atelier is one of the most exclusive just like you cannot go into an Hermes store and just ask for a birkin bag you cannot go into the Versace boutique and ask for an affiliate outfit they start at $30,000 so I mean I don't know I mean navigating fashion can be very complicated but I would put Versace and dolce and Gabbana I will put that up on the tear a because dolce and Gabbana is a very exclusive label as well and maybe their d&g collection could be ranked lower but don't you think about it themselves I mean that's a very exclusive label and they don't have boutiques all around the world like Louis Vuitton or Chanel or do but being as it may I really enjoyed the video it was a treat

True, Philip Plein overhype and overprice their copycat products. But I think this guy got all these brands mixed up in these different tier levels. Tom Ford is nowhere tier 1. Versace, Dolce and Gabbana and Balmain are at least a tier 2. Louboutins are too mass market for tier 2, but do not drop much in resale price.

the categorization here is all over the map. balmain should be in the same category as LV, giorgio armani and other couture houses not mentioned here (YSL, celine, brunello cucinelli, zegna, etc). fendi should be a step down and on the same level as gucci, prada, ferragamo, etc. and the highest tier isn't fully accurate - kiton and loro piana certainly belong here, but not brioni - and armani prive doesn't even exist anymore. but it seems much of this review is based off massively outdated data (quoting a 2007 review as basis for brioni) as to make the whole video somewhat irrelevant in 2023.
@GB-nn8uw Жыл бұрын
Mostly right. But I would say Hermes has gotten quite douchey and showy where as Loro Piana is much less about pushing signature patterns. Unfortunately, under LVMH that will start advertising and likely become like hermes
