My professor made this game. Like, my teacher? At college? He was part of Magic Lantern, the devs behind this game. This hits... awkwardly close to home for me. I even showed him the video, and he told me the story of the work behind it. There's a reason there's no dev credits in the game... they didn't want their name on this thing. If I recall correctly, it had a lot of heavy handed oversight and some very impossible dev goals for the budget they were given.

Well, basically the dev team for this game knew they were walking into a bad run from before they started. The publisher that hired them gave them very little to work with, not much funding, and a short build period, as well as the publisher knowing little about the source material. They knew from the first months of work that they wouldn't want their names on it, so if you go looking for Magic Lantern Studios, you will find very little information on them. My professor told me this during my Game Design course at university... I showed him this video and he's like "Yes, that's the one."

I can probably say some things for general info no one is going to give a shit about! :) 1. B.B. sadly passed away two years ago, which is a shame. I have no idea why of all the 32 players that played Survivor at the time they chose him and not Rodger, Richard or the ever iconic RUDY to be in the game instead, but I guess he got a dubious honor. 2. It's funny how the game is fusing the two seasons as Colleen and BB were in the first season while Amber and Jerri were in the second one. Now I am not that "hurt" by it, but it's just a weird design choice. 3. In the show the trivia challenge was actually really fun because A. it was a break from the physical challenges and B. It also revealed how people are aligned. 4. Standing on that pole wasn't hard. It was just standing on a pole. The reason why he won is because he didn't give in to temptations like PEANUT BUTTA. 5. The beef jerky line must've been a reference to Kel from Season 2 for being a smuggler of Beef Jerky, and the line is probably from Jerri who busted him for it. Kind of a random thing to put in the game since it's an element not common in Survivor. Heck in 30 seasons of Survivor Beef Jerky only came up in an auction in Season 11... YES I HAVE A LIFE. 6. This game is still shit.

Fun fact no one probably cares for: The smash player, "sephirothken" or just "Ken" was on the Survivor show. He's recognized from the show and from his smash career, where he dominated and was known as the, "King" of smash. He advanced the meta introducing dash dancing and making a combo widely known as the "Ken Combo." He still plays smash, however, as the meta advanced so much, he doesn't place in first as much. Wy wife's good friend actually participated and won Survivor on a recent season.. can't remember which particular year or her exact name but I'll track it down and provide another comment soon. My wife is a hair stylist and did her hair up to about a year before the show aired. She got married, moved, and then somehow ended up on the show. Was crazy to watch the episodes as she "survived" her way to victory. She was deceptively nice to everyone while being ingeniously manipulative (guess thats how you win). Anyway, fun review Ian. The beef jerky quote is based on the second episode of the second season where everyone thought that Kel brought beef jerky! Also, I played this game many times and I liked it, but hated some of the aspects of the game! Also there was an episode on both the first and second seasons where they had a trivia contest. One was for reward and the other was for immunity!
