Remember Lynn and Me having that stationary spill at the junction of Tweedsmuir and the A701? That road was in a shocking state with loose gravel and no road markings due to the timber lorries constantly scrubbing the tarmac with their tyres. Hope Bryan is okay. Good work all at MCL Scotland. 👏🏻

The roads are shocking throughout the UK, and whoever decided loose chippings we're the answer needs to speak with a few motorcyclists

I had a similar spill almost 40 years ago , in fact the one and only time I ever came off my bike , on a road over the hills between Stirling and Kilsyth . There were warning signs for loose chipping , so i was going carefully , and on this downhill section with a sharp right hand bend at the bottom I could see all the chipping had been swept to the bottom of the hill and lying on the bend . I slowed right down to walking pace , but even so it was almost like ice ; my back wheel slid out from under me and I just let the bike go and stepped off it . Because I was going , at most , 5 mph , I lost my balance when I stepped off the bike and put my hand out to break my fall - that was a mistake and gravel went up the inside of my leather jacket , over my glove , and gave me some scratches on my arm . Broke my front brake lever and RH indicator but nothing more serious and easily fixed ; still enough of the brake lever to get two fingers onto and get safely home . I count myself lucky that was the only spill I ever had in seven years and over 100,000 miles of motorcycling . Only other incident was going straight ahead in the LH lane at Roseburn St Traffic Lights in Edinburgh , and this girl in a mini , waiting in the right turn lane , decided she was going straight ahead and pulled into my lane just as I was passing , clipping my RH exhaust can - I stayed on the bike and stopped safely just beyond the lights . the young girl was clearly upset and no damage to speak of - she had a tiny scratch on her front wing as did i on my exhaust . I told her not to worry about it and just to watch out in future - all very amicable and we parted on good terms .

Was Bryan using a bike mounted camera? It seemed vital in his case so it would be nice to know what he was using 👍
