I was 16 years old in 1969. Met my husband in a disco and we're still together. This song wasn't around then. One of the first things my husband asked me was, "Have you heard Abbey Road by the Beatles?". I was into Simon and Garfunkel, Thunderclap Newman, Joni Mitchell, Jethro Tull, the original Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green, Cat Stevens, Moody Blues. He was a Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Ten Years After, Love Sculpture..I could name many more. Over the years we've listened to loads of brilliant music and even now we appreciate some of the new stuff. My advice is never get stuck in one era. Listen to as much music as you can whatever the year it was written in. I've enjoyed and still listen to music from then until now. Music is wonderful and can bring people together. Wishing all of you here a great musicalicious time. 🤗

@khanzeermuslam I think of it kind of like this: an atheist and a person who believes in God are talking. The person who believes in God says, "If God doesn't exist, and I die and experience nothing, I have lost nothing. But if God does exist, and I die, I also lose nothing. For you, if God doesn't exist, when you die, you lose nothing. But if God does exist, when you die, how will you feel realizing you have believed the wrong thing your whole life?" (On a quick side note - I don't think God cares whether we're atheists or not, just as long as we're good people.) I bring this up because, if the climate is not changing, and we switch over to solar, wind, etc, we will have lost nothing. (In fact, we help ourselves because - forget the climate for a second - if we switch to alternative sources, we'll have cleaner air, so less cases of asthma and other respiratory illnesses.) If the climate is changing, and we switch over to solar, wind, etc, we will help protect the planet. But imagine, if the climate is changing and we don't change our habits... we're dead.

I got my first real six-string Bought it at the five and dime Played it 'til my fingers bled Was the summer of '69 Me and some guys from school Had a band and we tried real hard Jimmy quit and Jody got married I should've known we'd never get far Oh, when I look back now That summer seemed to last forever And if I had the choice Yeah, I'd always wanna be there Those were the best days of my life Ain't no use in complainin' When you got a job to do I spent my evenings down at the drive-in And that's when I met you, yeah! Standin' on your mama's porch You told me that you'd wait forever Oh, and when you held my hand I knew that it was now or never Those were the best days of my life Oh, yeah Back in the summer of '69, oh Man, we were killin' time We were young and restless We needed to unwind I guess nothing can last forever Forever, no Yeah And now the times are changin' Look at everything that's come and gone Sometimes when I play that old six-string I think about you, wonder what went wrong Standin' on your mama's porch You told me that it'd last forever Oh, and when you held my hand I knew that it was now or never Those were the best days of my life Oh, yeah Back in the summer of '69, uh-huh It was the summer of '69, oh, yeah Me and my baby in '69, oh, oh It was the summer, summer, summer of '69 (Yeah)

Why would a song about reminiscing of the summer of '69, be written IN '69?

I'm a DJ for my local radio station, and every Friday, I make it a point to try and play this song. I'll be an older man by 2069, but I'll still be blasting it in 45 years. Rock on!
