“Summer of ’69” isn’t just a song, it’s a heartbeat of my childhood. Every time I hear it, I’m transported to a time when life was pure and unburdened, when dreams were big and summers felt eternal. It brings back memories of running barefoot under the sun, laughing with friends and holding onto moments that felt like they’d last forever. It reminds me of the child I once was, full of wonder, hope and the belief that life was limitless. This song isn’t just music, it’s the sound of my memories, a bittersweet echo of a time I can never return to but will always hold close to my heart.

I was 16 years old in 1969. Met my husband in a disco and we're still together. This song wasn't around then. One of the first things my husband asked me was, "Have you heard Abbey Road by the Beatles?". I was into Simon and Garfunkel, Thunderclap Newman, Joni Mitchell, Jethro Tull, the original Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green, Cat Stevens, Moody Blues. He was a Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Ten Years After, Love Sculpture..I could name many more. Over the years we've listened to loads of brilliant music and even now we appreciate some of the new stuff. My advice is never get stuck in one era. Listen to as much music as you can whatever the year it was written in. I've enjoyed and still listen to music from then until now. Music is wonderful and can bring people together. Wishing all of you here a great musicalicious time. 🤗

80's when this song was released were "the best days of my life". I just didn't know it at the time. But now looking back...the theme of the song is exactly how I feel now. So many memories and I've lost so many family members due to passage of time. So...so... feel this song now. Tears.... Thank you Mr. Adams for this song. I remember it in real time. I now truly appreciate and better understand your sentiment now.

@@christina311uss True. You just don't know your experiencing the "best days" until years later. In my case, decades. With the loss of my mother a few months ago and my dad in 1990 and being an only child, my memories are just the only thing keeping sane at the moment. I so miss those times in the 80's. @@Malcontent- I'm an only child and only had my mother. I lost her almost 10 years ago and since that day I feel like a lost orphan. She was the one constant thing in my life. She was the type of parent that would take a day off work and drive 3 hours to see me if I went through a bad breakup. Or make a trip with a bunch of gifts when I adopted a pet. I could talk to her about anything in the world. Nothing compares and there is no way to get that back.

It’s funny. This song, which reminisces and romanticizes the 60s, wishing to go back to a time like that, was released in the 80s. Today, people have the same attitude about the 80s and 90s. Just a reminder to always enjoy the present instead of focusing on the past because in the future, our lives right now will be glamorized

Talking of memories that don't exist,I'm watching this again a couple of hours after waking up from having had a dream about staying in a hotel we'd stayed in once before some years previously, and both times all kinds of things went wrong, causing much embarrassment. In reality I've never stayed in that hotel, which is supposedly situated in a town that I've never been to (and it seemed a bit grand compared to that town's reputation). So I had deja vu that didn't exist in a dream?

This song makes me wish I could travel back in time to live the 60s and 70s. I mean, I didn't have a bad childhood, maybe one of the last from this generation to have a gang of friends and spend entire summer days outside playing and being little rascals, but how fast that goes away... When I was 15 I thought I could have that forever, that sort of freedom that comes when you actually got nothing but minor concerns, internet was just for research, phones were rare. Now here I am reaching my 30s. This song always gets me on the best and worst about nostalgia, damn good job Mr. Adams... Damn good job.

The lyrics hit all of a sudden and even if I am still young, I know when I’ll be olden I’ll remember this moment and my life as a teenager and I will truly understand the feeling described in the lyrics. Until than, I can still enjoy this masterpiece and cry my eyes out for a nostalgia I dint have the chance to understand
