Just did Bryce and Zion. Headed to the North Rim today. EVERYONE should get your audio and written guides as they have been invaluable in planning our trips. Last fall we used them at Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. We did many of the hikes you recommemded in all four. Such great information and Matt is a great story teller, things we would not have known had we not bought the guides.

Thank you for your informative videos. We started planning our trip to Utah three months in advance and would not have been able to do this without your videos as well as the guides I purchased from you. Regarding Bryce Canyon, on the park website it is recommended to start the Queen's garden Navajo trail hike at Sunrise trailhead, but you suggested starting at Sunset trailhead and going Navajo to Queen's garden. What do you like best about hiking the trail in this order? Thanks
@WereintheRockies

We did the "Mighty Five" last fall just after Labor Day. We did Teton and Yellowstone first (from SLC), then drove to Moab via Price/Green River/UT128. We did Canyonlands and Arches before going to Monument Valley/Grand Canyon/Page AZ. We finished up with Zion, Bryce Canyon, UT 12 and Capitol Reef. I bought the blue "Utah Rocks" shirt at the Bryce Canyon gift shop. We were at Bryce on a Sunday, Sept 12 and it wasn't crowded at all. Grand Canyon is awesome b/c of its size, Bryce was the most mind-blowing!

Wanted to mention on another video but forgot... one of the things about winter visits to Bryce... I was there a couple weeks ago (May 2024) and drove there from Cedar City (do NOT stay at Motel 6) and had to go through a mountain pass that in May had lots of snow... and it had snowed recently... I would guess the drive in winter could be a bit sketchy

Most helpfull info thank you so much!! However, I have an issue still unanswered RE Queen Garden-Navajo Loop: if you do the combination, you can't do the full Navajo Loop and you can't do the full loop you need to miss either on Wall Street OR Two Bridges+Thor Hammer OR Queen Garden altogether. So here is my question to you: is my assertion correct? Which one of the three items would you miss if need be? Or how about adding a detour out and back from Navajo Loop to Queen Victoria? Sure I could also make it two separate loops, Navajo Loop, then Sunset to Sunrise, then Queen Garden looping back via Horse Trail (it's open for pedestrians, right?) to Sunrise... and then drop something else because... time is never unlimited LOL.
@WereintheRockies
@WereintheRockies Жыл бұрын
That's a good question, if you do the Queen Garden-Navajo Loop, you will miss out on Wall-Street or Two Bridges+Thors Hammer. You could do the whole Navajo Loop and then backtrack down one half of the loop and then go over to the Queens Garden trail, which will take you back up to the rim.

Great video!!! If you were to choose one place to do a horseback ride, would you choose Bryce Canyon, Zion, or the North Rim of Grand Canyon? I'm planning a trip that includes all three of those parks and want to include one horseback riding experience for the trip.
@WereintheRockies
@WereintheRockies 2 жыл бұрын
I think I would choose Bryce. There's nothing like getting down into the hoodoos. I loved my ride there. But that's only if you can do the one that goes into the canyon. See more here: wereintherockies.com/bryce-horseback-rides/. If you can't go into the canyon, I think Zion would be second best. Grand Canyon is great but you're just going along the rim, unless you do a mule ride into the canyon (2-days -- a totally different story). See more here wereintherockies.com/grand-canyon-mule-rides-our-review-what-you-need-to-know/

we are headed to the area to do a 14 day trip Las vegas to GC to ALBQ NM to Monument Valley to Page to Zion and to Bryce and back to Vegas. I agree it would be great to have a guide that includes alot of what is in between as I am searching and searching and it is hard work to find "correct" information out there about so much!!! I am nervous about the car ride and weather from the east entrance of GC over to Zion/Bryce area. Should I be? Heard some horror stories. I do not know what to expect. I never have been out there and will be there for so long (coming in October).

I would say the biggest concern would be vehicle problems because that area is so remote. Other than that, you should be fine. The nice thing is you won't be there in the heat of the summer. Have a great trip and best of luck.
