The adversary is using the same strategy as Amalickiah, but rather than poison, he uses tolerance for poison. Thomas S. Monson said: “The philosophies of men surround us. The face of sin today often wears the mask of tolerance. Do not be deceived; behind that facade is heartache, unhappiness, and pain. You know what is right and what is wrong, and no disguise, however appealing, can change that. The character of transgression remains the same."

This was excellent! What I find fascinating is that most members of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints will agree that these things are happening in our time, but we are split as to who portrays Amalikiah. Some believe it’s a person on one side of the political aisle others will believe its the person on the other side of the political aisle. It’s amazing and frustrating because we all see deceptions but depending on your political leanings, will point the finger at the one we disagree with.

Reminds me of the book of Adam and Eve in the pseudepigrapha .. they are in cave in a mountain and the only way he draws them out is by music. But he wants them off of that mountain.

Thought I had: Lehonti might not have trusted Amalakiah and had food testers, but if it wasn't the same food tester every time they wouldn't have as much of a reaction to the small amount of poison as the accumulated effect on Lehonti. So he could think, well they ate it and nothing bad happened, so it will be ok for me to eat.

Contrast it to Nehemiah 6:3! Do not come down from that mountain. Mountain = Temple

The phrase "low man" or "bottom of the totem pole" is wrong. The totem at the bottom is actually the root or most powerful totem. The totem at the top is the youngest and least powerful.
