15 year Bama/SEC hater here, but today is the day to give Saban his 💐!! Undeniable GOAT
@andrewbowen28378 ай бұрын
Saban changed my life, though I've never met the man. He's the reason I even care about football at all. You played a big part in that too, Greg. In my early youth, it was always Auburn winning the Iron Bowl, and I was apathetic to watching it if my team was no good. But Saban changed that. He gave me the desire to watch not just Bama, but all of the sport, and that has now spilled over into the NFL, to a lesser degree. He gave me something to be excited and passionate about, something to look forward to, when there was not such things. Especially after April 27, 2011, he gave the state a rallying force not seen since the Saints won the Superbowl after Katrina. He deserved to go out on his own terms, but I wish it could have been another winner. The one stable thing and passion throughout the majority of my life is now replacing what has been its heart and soul. It has been greatly appreciated

Stories like yours are honestly the ones I love to hear! I was brought up in a DIE HARD Alabama home, there was no other team! (Every other team were just losers and fighting for 2nd place) in my families opinions. I lost my mom on my 1st deployment to Iraq, so crappy start but on my 2nd deployment my dad actually was able to reach me and let me know that nick saban had taken the head coaching job at Alabama (I knew that I HAD to get back stateside and see this) me and my dad actually went to Nick sabans first A-DAY in Tuscaloosa. I knew he coached at MSU and won the natty at LSU but that’s all I really knew and my dad COULD NOT stop talking about this man (nick saban) and bragging how great he was going to be for bama. My dad was 62 at the time so he had seen some coaches come and go at Bama so I knew he may know something that I didn’t, and apparently he was right. My father passed away while I was deployed in Afghanistan in 2012, when I got back stateside and tried to get to my dad as fast as I could, The night he took his last breath, Alabama had just beaten Mississippi state university and I had to tell him the final score (Bama won) because I know he would’ve wanted to know. So I will always remember my dad being so excited about Nick saban taking the job at Alabama as the head coach the first thing he wanted to do was to let me know while I was deployed in Iraq. So I have a little piece of my life that I’ll always remember Nick saban and my father even though they never met

Bro I’m an Auburn fan and I started watching football and going to games in 2008 when I was a lil kid. So many memories man. For me, an Alabama team without Saban just almost doesn’t register. And the thing is that I watched Bama so much over the years as an Auburn fan, I could probably list out every loss Alabama has had since 2008 off the top of my head. They are all moments that I remember. There’s quite a few Auburn losses since 2008 that I probably don’t even remember🤣🤣🤣. But man I’m not gonna miss Alabama winning 50% of the national championships but I’m gonna miss the memories, and maybe some new ones will be made.

I’m so upset as an Alabama fan… I have a green notebook with every single play from 2008-2015 written down. I had all colors of pens and used the colors of whoever team was playing. Same with the Titans, 49ers, and Steelers when Patrick Willis, Navarro Bowman, Ahmed Brooks, Troy Polamalu, Hines Ward, Mike Wallace, Heath Miller, Vince Young, and Chris Johnson, all of those guys are my childhood. Now Derrick Henry and Mike Vrabel are gone. This week has been rough as an Alabama fan. I know Henry like the back of my hand and everyday feels like a punch to the face right now.

Greg! 2009 and '10 Texas game, i was a Bama fan for 20 years since i was a kid, through all the rough bama years i was a fan, then you and the rest of the the guys from those teams brought so much joy to us fans. im gratefull just to be a fan in those times

People always talk about Sabans 7 nattys when most coaches would absolutely kill to get there once! Well consider Saban made it to 3 nattys that he didnt win, thats 7 out of 10, completely amazing! No on will ever do the things Saban has done! Absolutely the GOAT!!
