The Ending Of Ozark Season 4 Part 1 Explained: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJCslIt5a6iCZtk

Remember the conversation Wendy had with Ben in the car, too, at the fake Walmart about what she wanted. She said she was smarter than Helen, but she also alluded that she could be living a much more lavish lifestyle than she is now. Maybe since loyalty and value have increased, so will the Byrds lifestyle.

I disagree with the part about Helen being fixated on revenge after Ben told her kid the truth about what she did for a living. It does seem very authentic when Helen says the reason Ben has to die isn’t cause of what he told he daughter, but that she wouldn’t be the last person he tells(we see this moments later when he informs a police officer about his situation at the grocery parking lot) I do feel like she simply saw FAR too many red flags and vulnerabilities with the Byrds and just wanted rid of them, yes Marty was the best at laundering money, but I could see her reasons for not wanting to place anymore trust in them(VERY similar to season 3 of Breaking Bad when Gus wants rid of Walter and Jesse, even though Walt made the best meth, he saw enough to think they’d be risky business moving forward) Also let me just say, this season currently has a rating of only 78% on metacritic(while the VERY good season 2 got a score of 59) I’m starting to wonder what on EARTH are the critics watching?!?? This is by far THE BEST series ever produced by Netflix.

The reason he isn't all fully calculated and calm like his sister is getting to be is because he is still young more than the autism thing.

Helen's credibility went down the drain when the casino business was not able to function 100% with Byrde's absence. That proved to Navarro that he was necessary for this whole thing to work out, so when Helen said she wanted to take over... it was game over for her

Marty and Wendy were simply more capable and smart about running business's than Helen was. Ozark does to me what Breaking Bad did to me years ago. I think about the episodes hours or days later. I'm obsessed with the show, the acting, the plots, and the twists. It's another crime drama that has "normal" people dipping their toes into a world of crime that they're not really prepared to enter fully -- they think they can just be on the surface, but soon find they're in over their heads, and it becomes a matter of survival.Seeing the moral choices they have to make, and their sliding down the slippery slope to being real cutthroat criminals, is absolutely fascinating. I can relate to these people initially, because they're normal people, driving the minivan, nagging their kids about school work, and even sitting down to dinner as a family. That's what makes it so great to me -- the fact that these could be your neighbors...just living their normal lives. The ironies are endless, and I love it. The Byrdes really don't think of themselves as bad people, not until Season 3. Their justification of making a better life for their children and grandchildren seems to get them through, even though it gets increasingly difficult.

@FaifaxLady4 жыл бұрын
@@mmm98612 I agree - many thing one or the other is better, but for me, they're equally brilliant. Similar in that both feature normal people who end up being pulled into a very dangerous way of life. Both patriarchs do this. In BB, Walter White's initial moral choice was to try to survive cancer. He needed the money to have either a surgery or treatment, just to save his own life. He went into it thinking it would be a one-time thing -- he'd get enough money and then get cured and then be done with it. But greed got the better of him. With Ozard, Marty's greed got the family into their tough spot right from the start. He couldn't have expected to launder money and still keep his hands clean. There was no "need", so in that way, they're different. And the whole family in Ozark ends up aware of and operating within their new "normal". In BB, Walter's wife and kid weren't aware of his dealings for quite some time. He constantly had the struggle to shelter them from his other life. I loved both shows.

Ben was bipolar, and was only rational when he took his medicine. He stopped taking his meds when he met and fell in love with Ruth. Ever since then, he spiraled downward to the point of zero control -- he couldn't control himself, and Wendy realized no matter where he ended up, he would rant and rave about the Byrdes and their connection to Navarro and the cartel. So he was a huge risk. Ben's character was endearing, fun, and in a way, innocent...but too dangerous to Ruth and the Byrdes. I did enjoy seeing a softer side to Ruth, though; she's my favorite character in this whole show.

@movingonandup773 there is a video where the cast talks about the many locations Ozark is shot in Georgia. It's not just Atlanta it's all over Georgia including these many different lakes. I didn't know that Jason Bateman was a show runner production genius till I learned about Ozark. So much of this show is from his direct input including the opening credits with the 4 symbols that spell OZRK that also indicate the story line and plot points of that episode. He directs many or most of the eps and is the shows executive producer. I guess having the career he's had really primed his for Ozark. Let's just say there's no way Marty Byrde gets killed off the show, until they get to the very last episode.

I saw something interesting about the video game. Marty while in jail realized that there is no easy way to win with the cartel; you have to keep putting in quarters to survive and then maybe, maybe you might win (get out of the cartel and be safe). While Wendy may have been erratic and overzealous this season, Marty realized that she was right in a certain fashion; you have to keep investing and go further in order to survive.

I think Del(esai Morales) from season 1 was way more intimidating than Navarro
@rsk69293 жыл бұрын
True Del was very blunt in his dealings but Navarro plays the long game so he is more in touch with Wendy and Marties mental fear he is less straightforward and therefore he is more intimidating in the long run because you never know when he is truly satisfied so they will keep having to put out. This is very different from Del because del wasn’t scared to show he was really human and at times would act like a friend to Marty.
@thaboramokolo93103 жыл бұрын
@@rsk6929 I agree with this 100%. Del spoke his mind, whether displeased or pleased. Navaro leaves alot to interpretation. The ending of it all when he embraced both Wendy and Marty after killing Helen was the first time he showed clear emotion (speech & body language), besides when he lost his family at the church. The biggest thing about Navaro is that he wants to constantly enforce that his employees never forget who they actually work for and Nelson does this consistently.

@@thaboramokolo9310 I'm thinking Helens whole family will be killed if Helen is a liability so is her husband and kids... It was either the Byrd's or Helens fam so I guess Navarro sided with he Byrd's since we'll Navarro knows that Ben blurted everything out to Erin and when she goes back to Chicago she can't be trusted where as he know Jonah and Charlotte have known all the shit going on and has kept quiet. Also it's a long shot to try to get Helen a casino liscence just like it was merely impossibly for Byrd's and since the Byrd's already have the liscence and there kids are cool and stfu as well as Marty might still be able flip that fbi agent and they can get fbi to attack the Laguna cartel Navarro like how Wendy is direct and like how Marty wants to win. I think everyone misses the whole point about why Navarro is keeping the Byrdes. Think about this a moment. The minute he threw Marty into the hole, shit got real back in Arkansas. The casino was in real trouble due to the flagged deposit. Now, even Navarro didn't know how to fix that, and Marty fixed it in 10 seconds. Does that not tell him how valuable Marty really is to his whole operation there? And regardless of what he said on the phone, the phone call Wendy made to Navarro telling him about Ben was a smart move. It's easy for Navarro to act like he was blowing it off, but Wendy did the right thing. But I am still troubled by a few things about the Byrdes. Like the horse farm. Wendy was far too sympathetic to the lady at the farm. It shows she still isn't 100% willing to be soulless for the cartel. And you have to be.

I agree it changed the whole power dynamic between Marty,Wendy and Helen. Navarro recognised that Marty was the lynch pin of the operation while he likes Wendys ideas he understands her nature and ambition the same as he does with Helen but no one can do what Marty does every time Navarro goes to Marty he has a solution ready for him the casino was Marty's idea originally Wendy did the grunt work to make it happen but she over reached by going after the second casino with Helen against Marty's wishes. Marty knew their primary job was to wash money Wendy wanted to secure a political base as that's her area of expertise but she let her ego and pride of wanting to out shine Marty blind her that set in motion a cascade of events that led to Marty staying in Navarro's dungeon but it also brought clarity to Navarro on who was really valuable to his organisation.

A whole video and you missed it. The FBI agent hit it when talking with Helen. Why was Helen concerned that Nelson might get the order against her from Navarro? Because, as the agent indicated, why would Helen offer to give up the Byrde's to the FBI knowing the condition was that the Byrde's would have to rat out Navarro? Helen didn't just want the Byrde's out of the way, she wanted Navarro out of the way and was in the bag for the rival cartel. Do you think the rival cartel had the information on the Byrde's and the drop without her help? Navarro figured it out.

Also Helen was not willing to kill her ex-husband and even endured waterboarding to protect him. BEN WAS THE MOST SANE ONE THIS SEASON... let that sink in (we should make the "let that sink in" comment a trend on this page lol)

Season 4 - Marty and Wendy have got themselves further into the Cartel, too far and there’s no way out. The FBI have acted against the other Cartel. Darleen uses Wyatt to get to Ruth to turn against the Byrdes. Johna is still upset and angry with Bens death, seeming like he is developing bad mental health. We later find out Nelsons involvement with Ben isn’t as it seems and we see what really happened outside that restaurant.

You totally missed the boat on the start of the season why she was tied about and tortured ..it has something to do with this. Not the fbi thing alone.

Also in the scene when Ben and Wendy woke up from police in the Walmart parking lot, the cop was impressed with Wendy’s knowledge about the law proving that Wendy is as smart or smarter that Helen.

Let's not forget that at the start the series, Helen was being waterboarded. This means that Navarro was wary of her all along.

Ben was the highlight of Season 3 and I think it's possible that he might not be dead. They never showed him getting killed despite always being graphic about most other killings. Perhaps someone else was brought home in the body bag?

I’ve known a few people with mental illness and I will say Bens character was spot on. He reminded me of this guy I use to know in the past who was also a meth addict and when he wasn’t on it, he wasn’t mentally sound. His heart seemed like it was in the right place and we had some good times but there was always that angry chaotic side. He would always do things because it was in his nature to do so even though he acknowledged it was bad.
