I'm at the 7k comic mark of which 5k should be sold but they are so damn sweet. I have 3 or 4 LCS that don't sift through their back stock which are priced from $1-cover so anytime something hits I grab what they have. In my mind I know if I flip the FOMO books asap I am going to make money but I can't get myself to list them. I literally have 5k mini to larger keys. So I feel ya!

As always, a very informative video! I've got all my books I bought from 1975 to 1996 sitting in short boxes that fill 1/4 of my living room, and still don't have them all bagged and boarded yet. I've sent a dozen out for dry cleaning and grading. Most have come back 9.6 - 9.8 but a few were in the lower 9s. I'm still learning to spot defects and pick the top ones. I'm waiting for cooler weather to put up some tables in the garage and get them all sorted by title. The good thing on these old books I bought for less than cover price is that my ROI is really good.

Another outstandingly informative video. Haven't seen one of this nature done better. I would add that if you're not doing this for fun (i.e.as more of a side business), then you have to calculate your time investment as part of the costs. My cut-off rule in determining what to send is pretty well the same as yours and I first check for three red flags: 1) Current selling prices being below $75; 2) Market saturation (i.e.how much selling competition will I have); and 3) Subjective sense of general interest (would anyone want to buy this and if not, am I ok with having the book in my PC).

Good video with some very useful tips. Biggest problem I’m seeing now is the wavy pages at the top & bottom of books. Do these affect the overall grade? Agree with you about being honest with yourself before grading submission as turn around times are massively increasing, but the biggest problem must be the online shops just flooding CGC/CBCS, not us fans. Anyway, keep up the good work 😎👍
@BrysComics3 жыл бұрын
Slight waviness is okay, I’ve even seen some really severe waviness pass as 9.8…yeah think about Gleasons studio, I think they submitted about 10k books in a few months, that has got to slow them down!

Finally confident in what I'm sending out (several Department of Truth variants, Eniac 1st print, Ms Marvel #12, Canto #1, Port of Earth #1, etc.). If all goes well, looking at a profit somewhere in the $2000-2500 range, all fees considered. Just need to wait for a few of them to come back from the presser 😀

Bry, if you don't like your hands getting sweaty wearing those gloves I would recommend you try finger cots. A bag of them are cheap and I use 3 on my hand, thumb, and two adjacent fingers.

It's to avoid oils and other finger markings from the hands getting on the books
@greatpix3 жыл бұрын
@@LiquidWeapon Yes, I know. I was using gloves to handle negatives as far back at 1970. Finger cots are more comfortable and do the job just as well. I use them on the three fingers I handle comics with. I use them on all my fingers depending on how I'm handling the books, but usually the three work the best for me 99% of the time.
