@@DaveNoakes Hi Dave good informative video. I have a Bryton 530 which is good for basic info not great for routing so the 750 looks interesting. One question can you just have the map on screen when out cycling rather than load in a route you have done beforehand? Thanks Pete 👍

Thank you for your video, which has now definitely put me off getting one of these things (I already more than second thoughts).

Bought one Dave! So far so good. It's synced with all my Strava routes, and it does accept GPx files!! Will try turn by turn nav next weekend, which is what I really bought it for!

Glad you posted this Nick - that 'doesn't accept GPX files' was a deal breaker for me.

Love that you fessed up to it being a teensy bit shiny 😂. I'm still not 100% sold for my own use. Reason I chose Wahoo Elemnt Bolt over Garmin is that I didn't want a huge, colour, touchscreen display. I would however recommend the Bryton to friends who like those features. Save themselves a few quid. Bonus!

There is the Bryton 420 as well for 150 usd w black n white non touchscreen. Bit more basic navigation though I think. I ll go for that if I replace my current one.

Thanks for the latest Dave. One thing, when the Sportive Cyclist reviewed it on his channel he remarked that while it connects to your phone via Bluetooth, it only connects to your sensors by ANT+. I'm sure it will give turn by turn nav. It's in there somewhere!! It's on the top of my GPS list now 👍🏼

How does it handle going off route? How quick does it recalc an alternative, and is the alternative qualitative (vs. just 'go back')?

Hi Dave! Is the battery of your 750 still working? Ask ´cause i saw a posting, that this guy´s battery was out of order after about half a year - and then with the exchanged one once again! Thanks for an answer!

Dave, I watched one of the Bryton KZbin tutorial videos on navigation, and it seems you should have had a red marker arrow on the route path on your screen. I don’t recall seeing this on your video. Did you hit the green start button when you started your ride? I sometimes forget to hit the Ride button on my Garmin when navigating, and lose turn by turn direction guidance as a result. 😬

If I’m on a ride without a route, can I load a saved route mid ride? Or do I have to stop the ride to use the saved route then click on start again?
@DaveNoakes9 ай бұрын
I believe you can start mid ride…but I’m not sure though. It’s not something I’ve tested.

I cycled up from Babbacombe Road to the top of the hill at Windsor Road with an old heavy , very heavy, bike once with metal rod controlled breaks (no new fangled cables). Was knackered when I got to the top. Did you see the route in your "Falling with Style" video. Maybe to out of area at the moment.

I am using a Briton Rider 15, even more entry level but does exactly the same things. After 3 years of daily use the battery is starting to fade and it has started freezing on me from time to time mid-ride, so I am looking for a replacement. Will stick with Bryton, just not sure what model. Have you got any tips?

Tq sir for the review. Just one question, is Bryton 750 provide audio prompt when approaching intersection in turn by turn navigation ? Also, does it have bike alarm ? I m currently considering this vs Edge 830. Thanks

Was it hooked up to your phone while you were riding? On my Lezyne GPS (fairly old), turn by turn only works if I have it paired to my phone.
@redart644 жыл бұрын
Surprised to hear about the turn-by-turn direction issues, they work really well on my Rider 60, so would guess the 750 should be able to do them even better. Audible beeps and distance countdown on approach to next turn, plus an arrow pointing left or right, it's all there! 😊. Also for loading routes from the laptop have you tried using "Bryton Bridge" ? Plug in the device, select route, and "Copy to device" - works a charm. Hope it's of some help, and cheers for the great vids 👍

Am pretty sure if it's like the older brytons, the turn by turn only works if you plan/create the route using the bryton app rather than import a file
@kevinlyon95014 жыл бұрын
Looks okay, it'll be how easy to see screen when the sun is out. Will await your further investigations. Though it does take the fun out of getting lost on the mtb if you know where you are.

Okay, a year too late, but the Bryton app does not create turn-by-turn from Komoot GPX files automatically. After you import the file, you open it in Bryton app, and select convert to turn by turn file. Then you transfer this new file, not your original, to the device. Yes, it is confusing and annoying. Bryton's online web platform allows for drag and drop of GPX files, but I can't seem to get that to work. I drag the files in, the web app processes them, says it's done with an exclamation point no less, and then nothing. The files just disappear, they do not show up on my app. I just bought the s800 which is a really cool device, but importing my routes is a real pain. Sure, it can connect to Komoot and Strava, but it doesn't just import my planned roots, it Imports everything I've ever done and I have to dig through dozens of roots, many of them with the same name, to figure out which is which. Then I have to convert the ones I want to use to the turn-by-turn file before sending to the device. It's a great gizmo, but Bryton has a ways to go in terms of software.

Seems to be extra steps compared with say the Wahoo or the Garmin. Bit of a faff... From the Garmin I connect directly to the komoot app. Price wise though it seems pretty good, about 1/3 the price of a Garmin 830. For me I want the GPS for navigation... so the turn by turn is important for what I want. Lets see where I can send you on Komoot!

Fair Play Dave 🚴🏻♂️🤪👍😎 Kamoot Great for making routes 👍👍👍and. It’s FREE Yeah best advise ever Name ya route People then on my Wahoo it’s just there in routes no flaffing about In setting on Kamoot on first use it did ask to sync /share with other devices wonder if ya need to do this with the Bryton??? Anyway loved the happy riding woop woop 🙌

Probably I'm retarded but I have 2 problems: if the paths cross then there's no way on earth to understand in which direction you need to go. There's no explicit direction and, since as you said step by step navigation does not work, is even worst. Other is that you make a mistake and miss a turn then it's lost even if you go back to the route. Really annoying. Do you have any solution?
@DaveNoakes4 жыл бұрын
I’ve experienced a similar problem, I managed to get turn by turn navigation working so will need to do a kind of figure 8 loop to see how it copes. To get the turn by turn navigation. In the Bryton app go to courses. Find the route then click the three dots in the top right and select download with turn by turn. It creates a new route that you cam then download to the unit.

Good vid, IMO if you can’t do something correctly on these devices, then it’s the fault of the manufacturer’s instructions not the user. Also having to load from web to phone to device sounds too fiddly. I have Aspergers and if a device ain’t simple I don’t bother, totally happy with my Cateye Velo 7, going strong since 2012 - yes mapping would be useful, but the search never ends right?

Bike Computers are another BIG marketing coup. A phone is all anyone needs; in fact, a spare cheap phone loaded with one fitness/cycling tracking App is all one needs. I've not used other Bike computers, but Bryton is the last one I would buy again. I've the Bryton 530 which has had numerous issues years after its release. I can not get it to change page settings without doing a factory reset. Do not try following its maps, it's useless. For all you will save buying a Bryton, you will pay wasting your time to get it to work properly and having emotional feats after it fails you. Oh, data sync can be a hit and miss too. Everything else works just like it would on other cheaper bike computers.
@DaveNoakes4 жыл бұрын
You’re entitled to your opinion but it’s completely wrong. Phones are not water proof and to get one that is costs more than a cycle computer, also they don’t record data as accurately. You can’t pair multiple devices. For someone who is not interest in data a phone is fine. As soon as you want more you need a computer. There’s no gimmick at all, it’s a product that’s useful and works.

Phones are good for navigation in fine weather.I'm afraid British weather calls for a dedicated navigation device.

@@ronbobo8772 some phones are now IP7 water ingress protection levels, there are weather protection covers for a £1 on Amazon, some apps are beginning to offer connectivity to various bike sensors via Bluetooth etc. Bike computers will die like the DVDs, VCRs, and others. Some bike computers are slowly becoming phones 😂😂😂, leading the way is the Hammerhead Karoo 2.
