Bryton Rider 15 (Full Review & Comparison to Bryton 420)

Hi Scott. Thank you for reviewing it! I was just wondering if the Bryton 15e is compatible with the 'Magena' Speed/Cadence Sensors (bluetooth). and if it does, would it be possible to connect more than one device? (i.e. one speed sensor, one cadence sensor and my smartphone for data upload on strava).

smartphone no problem... as long as the sensors are standard should be ok... you don't need the speed sensor since it will do speed via gps without a sensor ... the speed sensor is only needed if you have bad gps connections or are riding in a tunnel or something. If i ride through a tunnel using gps only it will display zero speed.... but it picks it up right after leaving the tunnel and continues with the recording

Hi Scott Great review. I hadn't come across Bryton until seeing your reviews. Excellent work. I'm keen to move away from Garmin which I've been using for years and Bryton look like a good option. One question: I really like having Speed, Ave Speed, Max Speed and Distance all on one screen so I don't have to move between screens while on shorter, faster rides. From your review I assume that I could do that on the 420 but not on the 15, is that correct?

the 15 is limited and you more or less have to memorize what each setting does. the 15 really only shows a speed related metric in the middle plus 2 other metrics.... aka 3 per page. definately get the 420. you can set up to 8 fields of data on any of the pages and its ALOT easier to see... and ANY of the 'cells' can be configured to anything you want. for example... i have only 2 pages enabled on the 420 and can simply press one button to flip between them... page 1:speed/cadence/altitude/alt gain/distance/heading ...page 2: time/temp/ride time/av speed/calories/av cadence/sunset time/odo. again...any of the cells can show anything you want. the big thing is that even with my poor eyes i can read the labels in each cell easily... aka... i know what the data is if you set up ALL the pages on the 420 ... you can simply toggle them off/on quickly with the phone depending on the ride the 420 is literally 10x better than the rider 15... trust me. the only fault i have with the 420 is sometimes when connecting the bluetooth it needs a reboot to find it, i think this is more of phone bug and most other units including garmin have these issues. no big deal, since after setup i only connect the phone to transfer the ride files after, and the bryton app is set to automatically send to strava. Ii thought that not having wifi was going to be a problem but it really isnt... a 60km ride will transfer via bluetooth in like 50seconds.... no big deal.

No it doesn't have navigation also they're updating the 15 there's a 15 neo that's a lot better I think. If you want navigation that's basic just a line to follow you'll have to go to the 420. If you want like full on maps and stuff like that then the 750.. it gets kind of expensive.

Haven't used the rider 15 for a few years, but I do remember having an auto pause feature somewhere in the settings where if you stopped it would pause the recording when you kept riding it would continue it has that on the newer units as well.... You likely have it paired to your phone app check the phone app you should be able to find it I know it's in there

Yes... Up to 8 things can be shown per page... Any data can be displayed in any cell

try restarting the rider 15, and restarting the phone. sometimes i find after i use my bluetooth headphones it doesn't connect to app.

I update firmware? Bluetooth usually needs to be toggled time to time. Try different satellites setting....
