I'll never forget the day I collected my brand new A10 SR from H&L Motors in Evesham. The proudest day of my life. The only bikes I've ever owned that were not Beezers were an AJS 650 CSR and my current ride, a 1975 Triumph T140v.

I had a 1959 A10 650. It may have been built from parts in this 1958 video. I wish I had seen and realized this back when I had in the early 1970s.

It still makes my blood boil that the UK government,in it's usual short sightedness, did little or nothing to assist UK industry, especially the motorcycle industry. These businesses should have been invested in and import restriction implemented to prevent the UK market being flooded with cheap imports. The designs themselves did require serious updating and improvement to keep them current, but that is hardly an impossible task to achieve. These companies had much going for them, but they were dumped

The government probably had all our money invested in the Japanese market at the time as well as their own money terrible

I suppose the British govt. tried to intervene and help address these concerns and as usual Labour strenuously objected. Then 8 hours later they announced they were going on strike.

If the management at the time of this film had payed attention to what was going on around them in the world and invested in the company in the first place, the government would have never had any involvement at any stage

This dismantling before dispatch to USA is why Jay Leno thinks the British motorcycle companies eventually failed in America. The reliability of the bike depended on whether a proper mechanic or the shop boy put the bike back together. Whereas the Japanese bike came whole form the factory. So sad to see what we used to have.

Ironically, British bicycles were dispatched to the USA complete and in individual cartons, whereas for the rest of the world they'd be sent stripped and packed in multiple in large cases.

they should call this video "how to fail in business" did soichiro honda show this to his workers at break time for a laugh?

Shame you weren't around at the time, you could have prevented the demise obviously. Still, it's easy to improve what has already been done by someone else. But left their own devises, a nation who's staple diet is rice and they eat it with two sticks?

I don't believe anything shown in these videos reflected why the British motorcycle and indeed car industries went down. All I see is workers faithfully doing their jobs, unlike their "superiors".
