I came to US in the late 1981. First I went to school to learn. No one helped me to go on with everyday living. I had studied real hard by myself while worked part time. It was not easy when you could speak English. I’m saying this, one must speak English I order to live in US.
My dear compatriot It's very very difficult to go to live abroad, when you don't know the language which you want to go stay, I live in France since 43 years already, opposite to you, I learned french language since Cambodia and English, when I arrived in France, I had difficulty also, because I'm foreigner who live a broad, it's easy when you write and read the language which country you live.
Not too late, you're young have a good personality and honesty. Start go to free none profit school or church for English classes (ESL) your life will be change. I came to U.S 38 years ago alone and have no family I attending school all day and work all night, so you can do it. Let me know the progress? good luck!

Brother, pls let me know how can Khmer move to live in the USA? I want to go there so bad
@vjjvbvjjvb95594 жыл бұрын
In order to come to US, you need to have someone sponsored you as a family member. But, it takes more than 10 years. Or married someone that lives in US or come as a student to get a PhD or study medicine, American will grant you a resident. Or American company sponsors you as work visa or you find someone who sponsors their relative, but you take their name. Before American has a lottery that you can apply, but I don't know about now. Or come to the US as a foreign student and find a girl friend to fall in love with her and marry her. Or ask for political asylum.

@@vjjvbvjjvb9559 do you know how to apply for working abroad?
Not really. Khmer in the US doesn't help each other as Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese or Japanese people. Vietnamese people help each other to find a job or finish college. Vietnamese student helps their peers to learn and graduate from college, but not Khmer people. Even they don't speak English, they will finish college, plus they work hard in school too. A lot of Vietnamese people graduate from college. They are highly educated people than Khmer. Most of Khmer people I know who came to US in 1975, 1980, or later, not too many going to school especially people who just came around 90's or later. But, small percentage come to US and finish college.
