(Adam, pg 213) "Day in and day out, I've spent every waking and sleeping moment thinking about _how I can annoy Chuuya."_ (Dazai, pg 230, when asking Verlaine why *he* is so obsessed with Chuuya... it's like a mirror.) "I've got a hundred and ninety methods for exacting my revenge on him, and this is the second mildest out of 'em all. If I went with anything else, he wouldn't be able to work... Stormbringer is one of my favorite novels ever, not just in bsd. I could write a whole essay on stormbringer soukoku, but my favorite moments are the Chuuya punishing dazai scene and the scene where dazai asked Chuuya to think about if he was willing to use corruption, and... Basically all of it, stormbringer is proof that they don't hate each other, and this comment is too long isn't it 😅

I want this novel to be animated so bad I can't 😭😭There was a rumor that we'll see Stormbringer animated in season 5 and it's gonna be a movie like the Dead Apple, but even if they'll animate it I'm afraid they will cut off a lot of Soukoku moments just because it's too gay. Like Dazai holding Chuuya in his arms OMG WHAT IS THIS

Also dazai let chuuya a choice to use corruption or not !! If chuuya didn’t want to use corruption,dazai had a other plan for him,I think it’s so important and kind of romantic likes dazai having a other plan so chuuya wouldn’t suffer the pain of corruption 😭

Its actually a bit deeper than the pain of corruption. The reason why dazai was so concerned abt chuuya doing it is cuz it'd rewrite chuuya's memories so he'll never find out for sure wether or not he's a human. He even emphasizes how the issue of being human or not could torment chuuya just like it did to verlaine, so clearly he cares a lot abt chuuya's emotional well being (And also in my personal interpretation, it's also because dazai sympathizes with the pain of not being human bcs he seemed to relate with verlaine's struggle)

@@savstinks6847 No? I think all it does is erase the log of what formulas were used on him so you’d never be able to determine if the memory erasure happened therefore you’d have no way of knowing wether or not Chuuya is a human, because if he was cloned, then it wouldn’t have been needed

when I first watched this video, I wasn’t TOO interested in stormbringer. I loved reading it of course, but it wasn’t really my favorite thing ever. now, im watching this as I draw verlaine for probably the hundredth time……. stormbringer changed me in so many ways and it got me VERY interested in analyzing characters and stories. it’s genuinely so great and will forever be my favorite novel. also, verlaine and rimbaud are SO fruity

Can’t believe I’m seeing this a year later but one of my takeaways from stormbringer is that Dazai’s straight up just in love with Chuuya or something. Like he really did all that for Chuuya, for what?? Because the maid thing obviously wasn’t serious(atleast to me). Dazai is literally obsessed AND sincerely cares for Chuuya, like idk seems like he’s in love.
