Thanks for watching 🙏🏼☺️ it’s unfortunately getting more and more temperamental each year, isn’t it? 😞 luckily in Scotland we do usually get at least a few days on the hills at least with good snow cover, especially over east, but we need to do more to protect our winters.

Great film ,shows how small your pack can be when sharing & could hear the snow & ice conditions underfoot when you had the crampons on,a perfectly pitched tent in a sensible location you will put some other pretend mountaineer KZbinrs to shame, keep up the good stuff, other,s will learn from this informative video. Many thanks.

Really glad you enjoyed it! Appreciate the positive feedback 🙏 Nothing like that lovely sound of crunching snow and ice underfoot is there. I was very happy with the pitch, the snow anchors are ones I made and the work a treat, don’t think much could have moved that tent off the mountain 😂. Hope people learn from our content, we are certainly always learning ourselves. Living in the highlands has certainly given us a lot of intense experiences in the last few years. Hopefully see you in the comments again! FYI you should see my solo outing pack, it’s even lighter 😉. Happy trails Ben & Megs.

Well done guys, good to see Meg back out as well, enjoyed watching this one. It’s a cracking range and brought back some fond memories of the first multi Munro day out, and that long walk back. Some good camping in the area as well… Liking the new tent, can’t beat a Hille in red. Spotted you guys in a couple of the RAB videos that’s been posted up recently, looked an interesting day out… Well done again, really enjoying the adventures 👍 ATB

Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it! It’s been great to get back out again, I’ve missed hills and exploring new parts of the Highlands 😍 it’s a lovely area, got some great looking trails running through the valleys too, bet you could create some cracking long distance hike routes. Absolutely!! So far it’s 100% worth the extra weight, especially in winter with long hours in the tent. Good spot 😉 we were indeed, was fun getting to meet everyone in real life and get a little behind the scenes peak at Rab too. Appreciate you watching, ATB Megs & Ben 🙏🏼

Hey 👋🏼, Megs is using the Marmot Phase 20 womens bag, which she says overall is a good quality and light bag, but has its flaws. I am using a quilt by Cedar Ridge Gear called the Laconte, it’s their 0 degree F option. Thanks for watching!

Nice one guys. Ah the Allak 2 in red ,the best looking tent ever 😉. I'm surprised you'se never done a summit camp just to be higher up for clearer views. What have added to the guy lines ?
@OutdoorIntrigue
@OutdoorIntrigue 2 жыл бұрын
Hey mate 👋🏼, you would say it’s the best looking tent, you’re biased 😂, but it is isn’t it. The summit was really windy on this one and the bealach was much more sheltered. We do love a summit camp but sometimes I find the best spots are just off the summits looking into other aspects of the mountains. Depends which mountain really though. The guy lines are all changed out for dyneema ones, and I was using snow stakes I made. Got videos coming on the changes. You keeping well??
@summitwithstevie6934
@summitwithstevie6934 2 жыл бұрын
@@OutdoorIntrigue ye sometimes you gotta just drop down a little just to get out the worst of the wind. Look forward to seeing your changes to the guy lines. I've only used my Allak a very small number of times and I've been lucky that the weather has been not too bad. I'm still trying to get quicker at pitching it in case I'm caught out in bad weather

@@OutdoorIntrigue it's fine if weather is ok but even then it's not easy if you're wearing thick gloves. Ye it's a good size for me. I think if I'd started camping with a really small tent I'd have went for the Soulo but i was used to plenty of space in my Wild Country Zephros 2XL. Didn't wanna go smaller. How you finding the weight as i know you like superlight gear ?
@OutdoorIntrigue
@OutdoorIntrigue 2 жыл бұрын
@@summitwithstevie6934 Yeah it’s harder to downsize if you’re used to bigger I imagine. It feels like a bloody palace for two of us. Weight between 2 is ok, I’ve got the total weight down too. I’d never take it on my own, fook that! 🤣😂 Prefer something max 1.5 kg. Let it be known I think you’re mad carrying it up hills for just you 😉.

Thanks for watching Michael, glad you enjoyed it! ☺️ overall the winter season in the Highlands this year has been a bit challenging, but the last month or so has really pulled out all the stops and given us some cracking conditions. It’s been lovely getting out again, a little break really makes you realise how much you love something. You did! We got invited along to check out the new Alpine 600 sleeping bag. fantastic video.. loved the soundtrack while doing the munros. i've walked that area before but the snow really takes it to another level! so the people you ended up helping out.. were they just not wearing microSpikes/crampons or was it worse than that? anyway i bet they were pleased to see you 2! Meg you must be soo pleased your first time out after injury was so phenomenal and that sleeping bag of yours in massive.. did you kernicker it from rab? look forward to your take on that trip.

Hey 👋🏼 it’s a cracking area isn’t it! The people we helped were all not wearing any spikes and had no axes. They were all lovely but had just misjudged the conditions. We’ve seen a lot of very badly attired people out this year, not to judge but it’s sometimes a bit worrying. Great return to KZbin for me 🙌🏼 have been out a bit already but not on film. Recovery is going super and basically done, now just rebuilding fitness 💪🏼 That ones a Marmot bag, full of so much poofy down! Testing out a Rab one for review currently though. It was an interesting trip for sure, surreal in a way, good fun though 😃

Hey I just got myself an Allak yesterday. I’ve watched a few of your videos now and you mentioned you used 10mm poles ? In all honesty … have you noticed a noticeable difference in the tense structure in the wind, in regards to your original polls of 9mm. I’ve seen a few videos where the wind is battering these tents ( Looks‘s like the guidelines or not position properly to be honest ) I used to have an MSR ELIXIR 2 No people are saying I should’ve got a black label 😏 funny! In comparison to most of the other tents on the planet that aren’t Hilleberg I don’t really see the necessity of the black label ? You ? But I am interested in your honest opinion in regards upgrading the polls do I need to think about doing that, really ie is it vastly noticeable ?
@OutdoorIntrigue
@OutdoorIntrigue 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary 👋🏼, appreciate you watching our vids. The 10mm poles do make a huge difference to the Allak, it is pretty surprising just how much stronger and more stable they make it. I was blown away by how much better it is at handling really challenging conditions with the 10mm’s. I think they are a worthy addition that converts it from a red label to sort of a brown label 😂. That all said it’s still a good strong tent with the standard poles, so if you aren’t planning to use it in the worst weather then it’ll be fine anyway. Hope that’s helpful ☺️

Hi, am yet waiting for my allak to be delivered, but already want to get 10mm poles 😅 Do the clips on the tent really handle both 9 and 10mm poles just fine? Btw, loved your video. Thanks for sharing this little adventure ☺️
