This is how i felt as well, the game felt too familiar, including the mess ups in the fights, because I'm not perfect either, and that makes these games basically unwinnable. Except it's not the hotkeys that have the issue but my fingers or my brain.

I mean the real problem was 3 of his teammates with 10+ deaths against a Riki. Like BSJ said - the other team had pick off heroes and when your team is 'feeding' those heroes (Riki, BH, Tiny) - it's REALLY hard to come back from. BSJ would have literally had to play a perfect game to essentially 1v9 and drag his team to the win. Some games just have such low chances of winning that it's better to cut losses and take the L, save energy for a game that's more 50/50.

Yeah these new ones are showing actually two points. first of all that when people saying they are losing because of random stuff it's true and you can't always say but it's your problem,. second I think some it could be possible that some more risk taking help for comeback. bsj playing like the enemy team gonna react in good way but lots of time they don't so you may get better result with playing more risky but you can't say always.

I've watched dozens of smurf videos. This connects with my pub experience in a really rare special way. Looks a lot like a griefed pub witch you'll never watch in common pro players videos/streaming. Great job. I also believe that this connects to a cope streamers always hear. Something about "your high bracket game looks nothing like my pub, therefore, you can't really help me".

@@cornedenecker1636literally in every dota video in KZbin. You post some comment and you're at most 2-3k or less and there are these people who are " high ranking" not even sure if it's a 2.8k mmr saying noob 2k or ancient and above high mmr saying noob 2k and they would say that, that if they smurf they will keep winning. Its bs. I mean bsj rank is probably higher than most of these commentors and he recognizes hes struggling. This is good, but I'm not sure if non of them know if hes in the game as in bsj a smurf is in ur game even if you dont know you're winning or losing or how exactly he ask these people to play like pub. Because in a real toxic pub which is more than 90% of the game especially in s.e.a believe me, someone would start pinging and calling bsj a noob. I mean sure he can just mute them, but I'm sure hes affected by it before he mutes them. In pubs there are always those teammate tha immediately looks for teammate to blame as soon as they die. Like, " no wards" or " your just watching" even when their death is totally their fault or even after you warn them to not go there. There also the kidn where everything seems to be going fine and one of the twamtes are being toxic to the other and cause him to grief and even though hes been playing well he suddenly decides to grief and not join fight. And these happen way more often than people might think. I'm sure bsj find playing in his bracket difficult but playing in low mmr is a different kind of difficult. Also I'm not sur eif he let's them pick whatever they want and maybe even chooses the hero he had to play. That would be more authentic too. Be ause bet smurf that are stomping the low mmr only plays a few hero they know are effective against them.

Just like dota, you see someone buying items that aren't helping and you suggest them item, without even the toxic blaming or anything, or just saying in general to the entire team we need, say a pipe for this and this, and your teammate gets offended because they feel you're teaching them how to play and starts griefing

tbh this is not the problem, this never happens. I think most players would be fine if they got to play solo lane if they got solo xp. Whats hard is when your pos 4/5 stays in lane first 3 min and does pretty much nothing then dies, flames you and walks off. Now you are playing against 2 lvl 4 as a solo lvl 3/4. This happens often but I have never seen anyone walk off min 0 to jungle.

Yeah. I'd argue a lot of off laners would do even better with a jungle 4 in low elos. Something like cutting waves lvl 1 on axe or primal beast can probably net you a pretty good lane when the enemy doesn't know how to react to it.

BSJ was essentially pos 1 this game and to me goes to show you if you as pos 1 screw up late game team fights game is pretty much over. Shows even high mmr players hesitate when they should doom silencer while he's stunned to a tree before he hurricane pikes you to death. Or high mmr players fight mid late game and lose a huge fight even though they know and even said "play the ward." I find that when players listen to calls like "play the ward" or "back and regroup" we win a lot more. We must accept the loss when ppl don't listen and take responsibility for our own mistakes. Comeback games are worth more to me than stomp games. Hard fought. GL next! 😀 Let's go!

we dont really know how this match is set up. Whether the other 9 knows that bsj is going to be in the game, even if they dont know which hero it is, or they were told a smurf is going to be in the game but not know its bsj. I mean just knowing those 2 can make a difference in the way they play. Beaides he mention about a request and through out the game tall about how some of them really commits to the " role" as in to behave like pub would at the rank or to grief deliberately. We dont really know, but it's not really the same as random pubs just griefing if they were being told to do that. So that's probably why theres a jungler from level 1. But anyway, it makes a difference to bsj's play if hes expecting it too. On an actual pub I bet one of the players especially the toxic one like wr, is going to at some point start pinging bsj's item or hero to blame him for whatever. As fast as toxic goes wr, is pretty mild, it's not even up to the average toxicity in that mmr especially in s.e.a.i mean hes complaining about a jungler, it's somewhat reasonable in terms of blaming. Be ause the real griefers and toxic that's often in the low bracket, blames you for no good reason. Like them going to place where they shouldn't and die, and you were somewhat to hia proximity at the time, and by that I means 1k to maybe 2k range or sometimes just ina different lane altogether with no tp, and blames you anyway for that death. Wards out of stock and planted , and they die in the one area with no wards and starts blaming sup for not planting ward. Tons of stupid reasons that dont even make sense but these kind of toxic spreads and before you know it you become the scapegoat and everytime any of them made a bed play that lead to them feeding everyone just starts blaming you pinging your item and criticizing you even when you are doing the right thing. Even if you are the one owning and actually clutching the team, theyd say things like you're just ksing. And these are common in 80- 90% of the game. I'm sure bsj can just mute them but I'd like to see how it affects him until then, or how even after muting them he realise one or 2 teammate who were doing ok or even doing well suddenly starts griefing be ause they one of them was being an a hole like ksing carrys creep deliberately, and make that carry grief. Or winning a huge team fight wiping the entire enemy, in front of the jungle but the carry and 2 others decided to immediately retreat instead of taking tower, and that to either walk home or just farm nc camps, with basically still a lot of resources too. Or right when the team is using aid or moving to look for a pick off, the carry suddenly wanders off for small level 1 camps but the rest didnt notice and started engaging. These are very common part of low 2k and below 2k But you dont see it even in this video. I mean the wr no stop talking shit about venom, and venom jungling rpg is a huge improvement compared to the usual educational smurf but it's really not toxic enough to be comparable to the usual pub games, at least not compared to the s.e.a pubs. If someone as skilled and high ranking as bsj can feel it's a struggle that even him not playing perfectly every single fight can really throw the comeback he wouldve been able to clutch for the team. All good points from you that I didnt think of. Because I'm sure with how uncoordinated pubs can be, team fighting can be difficult and confusing in a way that is different from the difficulty in high mmr. Climbing ranks from 1k+ to say 4k is a lot harder than people assume. Especially say someone who's always been in that 4k range since their first calibration.

I think the idea is that if you're in a bracket where you consistently get griefed in a majority of your games, or you see your pos 4 pick some shit like WR, Mirana, or NP, its preeeeeetty likely they're going to be griefing and playing like a core. If anyone can answer a simple question that confuses me a bit. When there is a kill between multiple people and it says something like 567 + 322 to 1 hero - is the whole reward/gold split between the killer and the assist so both 567 and 322 or is it only the "322" gold that goes to that assist hero?

Hey BSJ! I rarely comment on youtube videos but I feel like putting up this one to express appreciation towards you! I'm a long time lover and admirer of Dota who has played this awesome (and also at the same time awful) game. Been playing this game for 9 years with 4 initial years playing it intensely when I was in highschool, on-&-off in college years, and had to put off a couple of years playing Dota. I was a mid player with the occasional position 4 support whenever there are better people in the party. I'm not a "great" player but believed that I was "quite decent" (wasn't bad nor really good). Started off the first few years with low MMR (when it was first introduced) of 2.1k and gradually gained MMR to 3.1k max. I've always had a mindset of placing the blame on other people while emphasizing that I was playing the game correctly; whether I was a support or a core. It was always the other person's fault. I've always judged my "kinda good" skill level on the idea of my mechanical abilities, such as last hitting, winning team fights, having a high K/D/A ratio: those were the qualities that I had in my mind of "what constitutes a good Dota player". That being said, I believed I was a "somewhat decent player". Obviously because I could play invoker with all the spells memorized and know when to use it in fights; or I had fast hands whenever I needed to blink in & out whenever there was a potential kill or trouble. As I played on during the years, that mindset never really faded off. So, whenever I lost, I never understood why. I've always understood that "hey I got an okay-good laning phase, I contributed to fights, I understood that teaming up is generally good". This kind of mentality and "mechanical abilities" allowed me to stay up to the 3k bracket with my group party. I'm not gonna lie, being 3k in 2014-2015 was "not bad" if compared to the highest MMR at that time (if I'm not mistaken): 6k. I was also queing up with people at the 4k-5k bracket in 2014-2015 and had no problems winning games with not bad of a K/D/A. Though I never understood why I keep losing solo queing ranked matchmaking. I've always thought that I was "decent" and because of that I always (internally) blamed my teammates and raged after a loss (gonna recognize this sentence as "beta mentality" for this KZbin essay). So, I've never really liked playing Dota alone since "it's always my teammates fault"; "it's always a bad matchup"; "my team isn't fighting efficiently". After finishing highschool, friends drifted away, life happened, and I just stopped playing the game I loved. I hadn't completely abandon this lovely game throughout the years. During the on-off period and stopping period, there had been times where I watched Dota from my favorite streamers like SingSing, Gorc, Dendi, Sumail, Purge. So, sometimes I would casually boot up a game or two by myself and I would lose and put the game off again. Still having that shitty beta mentality. As time goes on, my mechanical skills become rusty, I was responding really slowly towards fights, I kept dying weird deaths, and my K/D/A was like 0/20/15 consistently. My rank also dropped down to like 800 MMR as I was playing in the Herald V to Guardian III bracket. So I thought it was time for me to throw in the towel. Lately, KZbin recommended your videos, precisely the smurf playlist this past 3-4 months. Those series of videos sparked a dying fire inside that prompted me to try Dota again. Especially that Hard Support smurf video where you played Crystal Maiden. You said (not verbatimly though - something like): "I'll do what I can do, if my teammates die, let it be. I'll just play around the objectives and control what I can do". That kind of made me interested in understanding what you meant. It didn't make sense how you won in a game with a position 5 support using Crystal Maiden. That was just very weird for me: I always thought that CM is the type of hero to not carry games, not the type to create plays, not the type to push. I've always thought that when picking CM, it was "hoping to win". That video made me realize, all these years, that I was completely-absolutely-fucking-foolishly wrong. It's funny because I had an existential moment where everything in my Dota life during the first 4 years were a complete lie. I didn't know ANY Dota fundamentals. I completely didn't know that you could ignore fights and just "pushed towers". I didn't know that you could, smartly, choose fights that are to your advantage. I didn't know that LANES NEEDED PUSHING. I've always had the mindset of - fighting = good; fighting = win; game = win. It's an insane realization. Now, I feel like everything that I know was completely thrown out the window. I didn't need "good mechanical abilities", I needed good map awareness and where to place myself in the map during different phases of the game. I didn't need to quickly react to a fight, I needed to understand what fights are essential and which ones to ignore. I didn't need to conform to my teammates if they choose to fight in the enemy jungle while the tier 1 isn't pushed with no wards around them, I needed to mute their pings and comments lmao. After watching your CM smurf video, it really feels like I'm a newly reborn person in Dota with a new profound appreciation towards the game, not towards winning. So, I thank you sir for your contributions to the Dota community. Dota lovers like myself and a couple of my friends really needed that. I feel like you really showed in that one line the crux of the community's toxicity, which is: "I can control my teammates and the outcome of the game". In reality, you really can't control anything besides yourself (this is also a funny realization because I'm a training therapist and you're the guy that taught me what we're supposed to be taught in psychology school lmao). What we can do in this lovely game is to focus on ourselves and what we can do FOR THE GAME, not for other people. INSANE IDEA. Now, I started muting people when they raged pinged or commented unnecessary stuff that is OUTSIDE the realm of Dota. But still kept useful communications such as call outs, bewaring of people, telling brief statements of intent (such as wanting to go for rosh). Besides that, I just want to enjoy the game for the game. For that, I thank you mr. BSJ. Thank you if you had the time to read this long essay in a KZbin comment. Please do continue doing what you do, you're an awesome light in the toxic pit of the Dota community. P.S., I'm very interested to learn a couple of new things as a person being "reborn" in Dota: - You've made a playlist of Dota fundamentals videos. Those are awesome videos but I feel like it kinda lacks the aspect of active implementation in game. I feel like having a smurf video every month for every bracket while revisiting the ideas of the fundamental videos would be awesome. - Having roles that aren't carrying your team would be awesome to show how we should appreciate the game. I'd love to see more of support videos (especially hard supports/ 5 position roles) since they aren't really appreciated in the lower MMR brackets. Understanding how we should play different hard support roles would be insanely lovely! Thanks again for your contributions.

This is literally every single one of my US East games around mid Archon right now. And I'm more often on the side that gets stomped I think because I'm being foolish enough to play single target save supports like Omni and IO (I was 56% winrate with Omni before patch but 43% this patch). Always the same thing, one team deathballs, wins a fight or 2 around minute 10-15 and suddenly it's gg but you have to wait 20 mins or so. And tbh, sometimes it just feels like Us East players in this bracket struggle to mount comebacks. Whenever I play EU West and end up in a 1-10 @ min 10 game you will usually have 2-3 allies who can play the mid/late game stronger. I still lose lol, but at least my carrys have items and we have good fights.

As support player, what griefs me the most are the cores that think they lost their lane when it went kind of even or we didn't lose a really bad matchup. Sure they died twice but the enemy offlane axe is jungling at min 6 because he never got close to his vanguard and I stole his xp rune. Now I just have a faceless void at 11 min whose like 0-2-4 with a midas and farming between his tower and the surrounding camps that all have our vision and even though we're up 9-7 he won't join a team fight until he has 4 items.

Yup... That's the thing, even if you do not belong in that bracket, if you do not execute barely "to perfection", game is basically impossible to win. And Veno did not grief you enough, he just didn't play the lane, that's LV 1 Grief... He could be leaching xp and dying to pos 1 on cooldown, as usually happens, there's also the Tiny airline's type of guys and the Io's getting ppl to enemy fountain... Well, I know you can disable the last one, but, still, he will catch some ppl unaware.

Good ideea for an edu game. But u started knowing ur support will go jungle and u could pick a hero for this type of scenario. And your build was constructed around that and still lose. Love the fact you teach us how to try to win with 20% win probability, but this will be at least 3 times harder in our game. So I guess we can learn that a grief is a grief. Remember to report this players, even if they are in the enemy team.

this is the biggest problem i've encountered myself so far (~4.4k mmr) my 5 is probably just farming role queue games and they dont really know how to play 5. they dont understand how lanes work and how and who they should trade with even if you tell them. i'll give you 2 examples. first one. im drow and i have dazzle 5 vs spirit breaker 4 and viper 3. we manage to get to the point of the lane where sb starts roaming and i tell my support to play in lane instead of pulling because we can kill the viper 2v1 while otherwise i cannot lane 1v1 against a viper. instead he tp's mid when we see the charge happening mid and we already pinged mid. midlaner dies (techies mid right-click xdd) and then instead of coming back to lane which wouldve been fine cuz you know you gotta try and help mid when he gets charged, dazzle just walks base with full hp 60% mana, and then tp's top, while im stuck at lvl 3-4 against a viper. sad thing is, we almost made a comeback in this game but i my midlaner techies decided that instead of stunning the entire enemy team and use nukes he should use mom and right click enemies that have 5k hp for 150 dmg. 2nd scenario. im slark and i have techies 5 vs ogre magi 3 and kotl 4. i tell my support to trade with the kotl because i can just right click ogre over and over and he cant lane, instead what happens is techies stays behind me and he's hitting a 1k hp ogre while their kotl is just right clicking me. a lane that we shouldve had 6-7 kills in turns into a lane where that goes just slightly in our favour pair that with another 1 or 2 losing lanes and its pretty much over. (also im not being a dick when asking them to do it, and of course there are games where people either know what to do or listen to what im asking them to do and i usually win those games). this is my biggest problem where my 5's are just farming role queue games and dont know how to play 5. or at least listen to simple calls when they have no clue how to play a lane.

Once you're above a couple levels teleport top and get a gank and then come through twin gates with your two top guys and gank the bottom lane

Constructive criticism : If you know you'll have a hard lane due to asking them to greif, it's not really the same thing as just realizing it mid game, from what I see and hear so far you know full well what is going to happen and prepped your starting items accordingly. Objectively, the difference could be somewhat minor as these items are cheap but it still makes a difference.

@TheRealHubeau
@TheRealHubeau Жыл бұрын
@@sebastianGunnarson71 okay so you agree then, that starting items matter, and so knowing you'll be greifed in lane is going to define what you buy when you start. Aka it's not a fair representation of a real situation. My point is simply that knowing you'll be greifed from the get go leads to different starting items, as he said himself he was getting a windlace because of that, instead of a quelling blade (for example). A blind test would have been a better demonstration of his points. Not by a ton because, again, these items are cheap enough he can react quickly if needed.

This exact reason is why people complain about how hard it is to win games, you just fell what an average 2 - 3k game looks like, nobody does anything to help each other, everyone is selfish, theres a lot of griefing if you had to concentrate being a top tier player, you cant expect an average 2k player to do the same. Do the 9 people know that bsj will be in the game? Or even if they dont know that it's bsj that a Smurf is going to be in the game? But most importantly how exactly is he requesting them. The best way to get that authentic experience is just to let them play and everyone don'y really know each other. Because there's this element of chaos in pub where everything can go well, but some people start wandering off, like wiping the enemy team in front of their tower, and your carry or carries starts retreating so he can farm nc. Or a player that's doing well the entire game suddenly gets titled by 1 toxic person and decides to grief. You might think im giving the worse case scenario but it's at least 75% of the game. To be fair, the way the fight is so messy and uncoordinated and windburn keeps talking shit to his teammate is relatable. Then again, were they expecting it, like knowing bsj and bsj requested them to behave that way or something? But other than that, the only thing maybe missing, is a teammate flaming bsj, pinging his item, or pinging his hero when they die, and that kind of stuff. Im sure bsj can just mute them, but until then... Still this is probably the best out of the series, although Im not sure why I can't find this video in his educational series or going to his channel>videos. I hope we can see him play multiple games in a row, or however frequent he's playing his game as usual and the best part about him losing is i"m sure hell be able to figure out a way, to make it work better, maybe something that works on lower mmr that's not so much used in higher mmr.

This looks like current harold 2 and 3 in eu severs. I also clutch up in the fights there and mess up, even tho it would have given me a win chance. I remember one game with a instant feeding tiny, who farmed a devine to feed it to a Pa. That Pa was really bad and didnt know what my ult did (muerta). Thats why I was happy about that feed, because I would have gotten a free devine. Well I got jumped at our graveyard (they had warded there...) by her and her support, while tping back to base. Than it was gg. 1 sec was all it took for me to destroy her and win the round. In Herold 5 its a lot better, but there the unbalanced teams, smurfs and scripting Tinkers mess everyting up. Some of the matches there feel like at leas 4k mmr and I come from this bracket, and most other players there as well.

Imagine trying to make it a game, when your team starts flaming you too when they start dying all over the place, and you are just trying to take the best by split-pushing and farming. BSJ is mentally prepared to solo lane and picked a hero "suited" for it, big difference to what actually happens in pubs. It's rarely the case, because you don't know upfront you're gonna get "griefed". So you pick and buy start items like you have a sup in lane, which makes your game a lot harder when it turns out you don't have a sup. And this "mild" grief is already enough to make a 9k player lose the match. So imagine trying to win in matches where you get griefed when you belong in that bracket or you are only a little bit more skilled then the mmr you are currently at. A jungling sup from the start is absolutely the mildest grief that can happen. What is way worse, and it's not that uncommon is a sup that: -afk at start, so only 1 or no runes -doesn't harass at all, just xp leeches (or stands afk under tower) -doesn't take the most obvious skill he should have taken and that catches you by surprise by the first hp trading in lane and gets you (almost) killed. -no ward(s) -no dewarding (lane or pull camp) -no pulling (and when you pull yourself, the sup ruins the pull) -no preventing enemy pulls (by interacting or camp blocking) -random lane pushing (especially when u finally have it in the right spot to get a few LH) -constantly aggroes creeps, ruining everything you try to do (last hitting, lane equilibrium) -takes last hits regularly -gives no regen (hp nor mana) -does stupid trades and gets killed a few times (so despite you being in lane solo a lot, the enemy are both equal level to you, or even higher) -doesn't buy any supporting items that would been really useful (headdress, ring of basilius, that kind of thing) -bit later when you expect him to have mana boots (because he took quite some LH), has brown boots and is buying selfish items. Yeah, if the sup does all this it's an obvious intentional griefer and you probably have to go next game or hope the other lanes go really well and you get carried. But often they don't do all of the above but they do enough of them to make your lane (and match) ridiculously hard.
