Thanks for sharing. It also work with analog meter, just need to set meter x 10K ohms (12Vdc), + positive probe to Emitter, - Negative probe to Collector. Just use the same method as shown. It will work. However, your method doesn't work with my digital meter. I found my diode test only give 2Vdc. IGBT doesn't switch on.

Hi there. Nice straightforward video. Question though - I don't seem to get short, nor activation of my IGBT when running this test. It's a G4PC40U from a treadmill board - is it possible that my (cheapish) multimeter doesn't have the grunt (current?) to open the gate when following the steps in your video? If so how would I be able to test the IGBT to see if it is good? I had the same problem with the new IGBT I bought to replace the above one which I thought was faulty.

the problem is some digital meters will not test this way since they have to low a voltage. i use a simpson 260 on rx100 and it does work.

Hi. Thanks for the video. I am testing G7S313U IGBT's out of an LG Plasma TV that went bad. I am using my Greenlee DM-850. I am getting all 5 of them to turn on. What I am observing is that two of them read 1.5 volts (roughly). The other three climb to 2 volts and all of a sudden, I read zero volts as they turn off (I believe that is what is happening). I don't have any shorts. It is easy and cheap to just replace all 5. I am wondering though what my multimeter going up to 2 volts and then registering 0 says about that IGBT (or maybe my multimeter. Thanks much!

I just bought a new IGBT (FGH40N60) and when I followed your steps, it always shows 0L between the Collector & the Emitter even after I briefly touched the Collector with the positive lead. Why is that? Thank you in advance.

this is fake because can not check to the igbt with multimeter because this is isolate gate and of this gate voltage not are least even that it least gate voltage of this 15 voltage ok so plz don,t capture a fake video ok
