remove the alternator and you can use a 3/4 ratchet wrench and get it out...use pliers for the connector...

Have you done it? Will the cables for the sensor come out far enough to swap the sensor out? I still haven't fixed mine. Need to get it done so I can clear the code and get the smog cert done.

Hey Bret, not sure it you had the sensor replaced yet, but just did mine a few days ago and was able to replace it through the front. Was not easy as access was a PITA. But after removing the baffling/insulation inside the opening of the intake runner (on the sensor side) I could reach it. Had to contort a bit to get good grip on the connector, but after an hour of swearing and sweating the connector came off. Then used 3/4 ratcheting combination wrench to remove the sensor itself. Good luck.

I disconnected the battery for the time it took me to check all four wheel speed sensors and turned on the key and the system displayed. > Engine temp data error. (the 05 nav has not been started in 3 days) which led me to your vid(good job). Why do you think this happened?

That’s not the ECT. That’s the CHT (cylinder head temp sensor). The CHT has no contact with coolant. The ECT however is actually all plastic and on the oil pan.

@shantheman77 i have a 07 5.4 i dont have a ect on side of Oil Pan. Have any idea where its located?

The part dosnt cost that much.I found it for $25.And with a 19mm or 3/4 flex end ratchet wrench you can loosen and replace the CYLINDER HEAD TEMPERATURE SENSOR.Not the ECT like other guy said.

Sólo remove el alternador y tendrás espacio para mover el sensor. Not so hard to it.

Ion, a 2005 Lincoln Navigator biggest piece of s*** I've ever own cam phasers went out. Now. This little sensors out and you gotta take almost the upper part of the engine off to get to it. Ford sucks I wouldn't buy a ford soon as I if someone gave me one I take it to the junkyard chevy all the way bitches
