BT Digital Voice Adapter, how two old people set it up

Joan and I were worried about setting up the BT Digital Voice System but are delighted with the outcome. We now have a system with three phones in the house and one in the garage (useful when we are in the garden). This video shows how we accomplished it. Michael Parkinson

Not just older people at all! I am a young person and was having terrible difficulty setting this system up. The instructions in multiple places from EE and BT are not even half as clear as you. So useful and helpful of the two of you to put this video up. Thank you so much. You should do BTs instructional videos for them. So clear.

Thank you both so much - this was super helpful. Now my almost 80-year old Dad at last has his extensions set up and working and I don't have to worry about him falling down the stairs trying to get to the phone next to the router!

I was going to buy one of these but I couldn’t find any information about how my old hands free phones connected to it, your video was most informative and showed the phone socket on the top of it, which is not mentioned anywhere. Now ordered one, thank you for the video, I give it five stars 🌟

@@michaelparkinsonnotsir I was used to work as tech advisor to BT I see how elderly people struggle with things like that, mostly of the time for fear of trying. You guys has done a great job, not only pairing the adapter but recording it and posting it!

Yes we changed over last year, in my opinion it gives great flexiballity in where you can place corded phones rather than being stuck to locations where just a normal phone socket exisits. Kind of makes corded phones almost wireless lol

Thanks guys really really useful info. I have seen a few vids involving the old BT tel port strripping down removing the cable obtaining a gismo to fit coloured wires into it. I was gonna have go, but just seen your vid on adaptors, sounds less hard work!. Thanks for sharing. btw where do you get the adaptors from? blessed be x

A word of warning, if you place one too far from the router, the phone won’t ring but you can make calls on it.

Sad to think that during a power cut, you will lose all your 'landline' telephones, whereas with the reliable old copper network, your phone would still work. Progress isn't all it's cracked up to be...

@@michaelparkinsonnotsir Indeed, also, as a couple, in an emergency you have each other to rely on in a power cut. If living on your own, and you have a power cut, and you need an ambulance, and you don't get a mobile signal, well, the outcome is you die. Guess that's progress for you though...

We’ve had BT EEvfull fibre installed and have set up the adapter which has a solid green light, the phone base unit is plugged into the adapter. Only problem there’s no dial tone.

@@john_smith1471 Hi John I would complain to BT because you should be supplied the Digital Voice adapters free of charge. I would forget about the dial telephones though because they are way out of date.
