I rented a suzuki swift for my first laps from Dale at rent4ring dotcom and was a great experience, thx Dale! The track was wet and the temp was about 5C first thing in the morning Nov 15/13. I used to drive my dirt bike in the winter when I was a kid in Canada, so sliding around a track was just fine for me and was nice since it felt like I was the only one on the track first thing in the morning allowing me to focus on the line while still checking my rear view in case Michael Vergers had an urge to do a fast lap in bad weather. If anyone wants a taste of this track in a simulator before going for the first time, the best I've seen is Xbox360 Forza 4, it has the same Radical Sr8 that Michael Vergers drove on his awesome lap posted on youtube. Adjust the car to full down force and and turn up the sound on your stereo. Thanks again Dale, I hope to drop by for a few more laps in the near future.

Still the best beginners guide in my opinion. Helped me a lot when I did my first laps back in the day, when it was actually mandatory to go straight on at Adenauer Forst as a newbie. ;D

I am at the ring with my Mazda MX-5 this weekend, and might do a lap... But I'm scared as hell cause I have no track experience whatsoever. Might just stick to watching till I have driven a few easier circuits :)

Good video. I see someone else has enough sense to wear a helmet. Me and my girlfriend were in a hard top Jaguar X type but still both wore helmets as various websites advise the use of them for obvious reasons. Our car was an automatic. Not good for feeding power on gradualy. would recomend manual instead. Also the track was wet so the car span around x2 but driving conservatively kept it away from the armco. also would recomend the use of track tyres. Even pirelli P zeros had little grip.

You shouldn't leave the handbrake on though, even though you were doing a mild lap. It won't let the brakes ventilate. I see that a lot from when we track Ferrari's with double-clutch gearboxes and electronic handbrakes. The handbrake is automatically engaged when you turn the ignition off, and in effect the brakes don't get properly cooled down, even though the drivers have completed their mandatory cool-down lap on track.

I like at the beginning of the video where you enter the track: "I'll give it to this very nice gentleman" and almost before you finished the sentence he started bitching at you about the camera. I Guess he wasn't so nice after all :D I know, I know.. He was just doing his job, but I thought it was funny.

I think 'bitching' is a little harsh. Assuming his native tongue is German, his English might be a little 'blunt'. Pretty much all he said was "no cameras". An English person might have said "Excuse me but you're not allowed to have cameras on the track". Just a matter of idiomatic/cultural use vs technically correct language.

Going again next week. Done a lap last year, which was my first ever circuit experience. Scary as fuck. Was on a busy day too. Not gonna do that again. Hoping to find a quiet time this year with a semi-empty track. I just kept right with my indicator on 90% of the time, screaming like a little girl last time.

Most of them I've seen are cameras at notorious 'accident/incident' spots looking at the track. The prohibition is on a mounted camera in/on the car (which I expect you know). Cheers.
