This is my NOOBS guide to the Nürburgring! Showing all the boring stuff, like how to get into the track, buying your tickets and getting off half way. Send it to a friend who's never been, but should!

Excellent video. Quote of the day: ""If he's behind you now, and wasn't before, then just move over!"" If more people were to follow that advice, harmony would spread all over the world. Or the ring, at least.

he's talking crap, you only need a normal drivers license.. so the american license may not be enough (depends on whether the EU accept it or not, though i assume they do) and you could be required to get an international license (which is basically another test and a few bucks to buy it and thats it i believe).
@chron151
@chron151 7 жыл бұрын
There's absolutely no need for an international driver's license unless you plan on competing amateur or professionally in which case you're paying your fees to the FIA... blah blah blah.

Gives me confidence that I'll be able to have a crash-free and successful day for when I eventually visit for the first time (I'm thinking 2018). I think I'll try to rent a car from one of the several garages around, and sign up for one of those 2 day trackdays. Would you recommend Destination Nurburgring for setting up all those plans? Are these other similar services?

I'm very tempted to go :P But I'm wondering how often do they really check whether the car is street legal or not? Cause I often see upgraded cars that wouldn't be legal on public roads. Although it might be that in germany they aren't as strict as they are up here. But for example, my new exhaust system is technically not legal in my country because it doesn't have all 3 mufflers. (non-resonated cat-back exhaust). And if you chiptune your car or something like that, that is normally not legal up here either. It would be a pain in the ass if you go up there and get denied bc of the exhaust, even though a lamborghini or ferrari would still be much louder, because I know there technically also is a decibel limit. Anyway great video to make everything clear and it seemed like you couldn't hold back the temptation of going faster in the end :P It was like you wanted to show the M3 that he was no match for you if you wanted to xD
@lennert8530
@lennert8530 7 жыл бұрын
HardstyleBeats_Mixr I don't think they ever check your car unless something is obviously wrong with it, i.e. leaking exhaust, leaking oil or body parts being loose, broken lights etc. If you drove there over public roads, you can drive it on the ring. Chiptuning and many engine and exhaust modifications are perfectly legal around here and your car has to be seriously loud to not be allowed on the track. Also I think you mean Focus RS instead of M3? Didn't really see an M3 in the video.
@coast2coast00
@coast2coast00 6 жыл бұрын
I think they regularly check the tires are not race tires (just looking at them) and that your exhaust is not too loud (i'm sure they have a dB meter around the office they bring out if you make their ears hurt[i've read of bikers shoving a pop can into their pipe to beat the meter and be allowed onto the track]), but other than that as long as it doesn't look like your car will burst into flames and leak oil around half the track, they are fine with it.

Well worth watching even your just learning the track for sim racing.... I bet its always a great day waking up with the knowledge you're spending the day racing cars, Surely the ring taxi driver got be one of the most enjoyable jobs in history lol.... What's the score with the Russian oligarch owning the Norshliefe track, Is it going to be boycotted until putins crazy ideas are stopped, Is there anything those oligarchs do not own.... But yeah this a great video if you want an idea of everything you needs to know.... Race etiquette is vital for safety.....

I could imagine a big problem adding fuel to the go-fast-instantly fire is the ticket price. People see 30€ (on weekends), for a single lap and somewhere heard it was "cheaper", like the GP Track's 29€ for 15 minutes, (or worse Hockenheim's "15€ for 15 minutes"), which probably sounds like more value, if only subconsciously, than "30€ for one lap". But they don't get the dimensions of track you get for it. Of course that doesn't mean the prices are too high, especially now with marshals (do they even get anything for it?), but peoples' appreciation for what's behind the 30€ is warped. Added to that, of course, the increase over last year. I do realize that cheaper laps would only change the angle of approach of this thought, this is just a guess at possible mindsets.

So what about laptimes? Arent even possible because you have to leave after 1 round? Or is it possible to hammer through the cones at the end of the straight on some days of the year?
@dschadu
@dschadu 7 жыл бұрын
Its called "bridge to gantry" for a reason: Your laptime starts at the bridge after the cones (so you have time to accelerate) and ends under the gantry at the beginning of the straight "Döttinger Höhe", a few hundred meters before you have to leave the track.

@Dowent
@Dowent 7 жыл бұрын
I really don´t think it´s a great idea to look up the lines, apexes, breaking points, etc. b4 the first visit to a particular track. First of all, it´s much harder to get it in your head when you don´t have experience with the track, but more importantly, you might become too reliant on it and it is quite important to be able to ride unknown or updated part of the track on your own, without a guide.
