If you think that "I'm driving the Toyota Supra SZR on the Nurburgring, that I helped Emerson and R4R develop" is basically the same as driving random people's random cars every day you're either very delusional, or you just have some beef against Misha and are blinded by emotions.

A true thank you to the work put by the involved in spec'ing/building/setting up the car. Driven it last weekend, going back again the next weekend TF days for a few times in a row. Wonderfully setup. First, so much more confidence coming from the car as a whole (perhaps a lot on the Ohlins TTXs), compared to the 125i. You can take the right kurbs at Wiperman without a single concern for instance. Second, balance as always, that's why I come to the particular rental company. Orgasmic when you are having 4 wheel slides on the limit. Extremely balanced, rotates so easily on demand, it is on point. Third, the grip levels are absurd, wow. This is a freaking fast car, running sub8s on the middle of TF traffic. A lot to get used to the lateral accelerations on the fast sections like PflanzgartenStefan-Bellof-S. Hard to imagine much faster cars on curves w/o aero. Forth, I typically do ESP off but started on Sport on Marc's advice. It is inherently a low-polar-moment of inertia, agile, neutral-balanced, very fast car, so there is no magic: you really have to be thoughtful on your inputs. With the new Fuchsröhre easy to get oversteer on the top left hand. Overall, it gets you sweating and a beautiful way to enjoy the NBR with some good challenge. Btw, we've met ~10 yrs ago where you were certain I was messing up with the Swift's ABS's, which I was not, haha (because of what you saw on the approaches to the Karrousel). I'm putting in another 300-400 rental laps this season on weekends now targeting RWDs, the Supra asks for a premium I didn't want to spend, but hard to say no after driving it. It's whats gonna keep me loyal there at least a few more rentals. Tks again, cheers!

@btgdale Do you think the TTX are a bit overkill for a rental or do you think the quality of the part is worth it in the long run given the hard life of a rental?
@BTGDale9 ай бұрын
On any other circuit, I'd think it's overkill. But with these kerbs, and the servicing we have to do... cheap shocks die fast. Bottom-end named brands (like those that rhyme with Hey Bubble Dew) tend to pop A LOT on our cars, and our service times with Ohlins are very fast, and they pop less.
@B__L9 ай бұрын
@BTGDale Fair enough! Interesting to hear your comments about that brand. I'd always assumed with their popularity and name that they would be of a higher quality especially given the price tag.

One serious question: How du make the r888r work on such a heavy car? In my experience they are quite good on a car with less than 1300 kg but relatively rubbish on a "heavy" car like the supra or my M346. I had a really good relationship with the good old r888 which was not good for most drivers and tire pressures, but never really liked the r888r
