Thanks for the BTS, nice shot! Rosco makes ND gels in various densities which can be used to knock back your strobe output when you can't go below 1/256.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention those. I actually have a ND gel from MagMod always in my bag. Definitely great to have especially since TTL is usually a bit of a price increase.

Hey Francisco.- It would be great if you did a full blown Lightroom - - > Photoshop edit that demonstrates the approach and various techniques you apply when editing. It could be an hour+ vid or maybe a series of videos where you demonstrate all the techniques you refer to. I think that would be quite valuable to learn about the great techniques you apply in a more practical and visual way. Just a suggestion... Thanks and great content as always!

That was great , thank you for sharing. I have a question regarding modeling lamps, do you leave them on and then just fire your strobes and the strobes cancel out the light from the modeling lamps in the image ? I hope that makes sense. I just bought a AD300 and have only used it in daylight so far.
@fjhphoto
@fjhphoto Жыл бұрын
Yes, I tend to leave the lamp on in low light settings even with the flash firing because the flash cancels out the lamp output. The lamp allows me to focus better, have more iris in the eye, and makes for nice BTS video as the subject is lit up. Sometimes I don't even use the flash when the light gets really low which was actually the case for this photoshoot after I finished this set of photos.

Great work sir! Did you just get the one photo? I feel like this approach would be tough to get variety, because you perfected so many things throughout. Either way looks like it was worth it for this image and video!

This is a fantastic shot! I do have a question… When you do these on location shoots, do you have to get permission from the city/town ahead of time? Or do you find it’s not an issue?

Great commentary! I find the tree/bush lighting, in the background, really distracting. It doesn't provide any context to the image.

You have great and interesting content. But... the audio. I would imagine like me, most have to turn up the volume for your videos, then back down again when moving on to other channels. But, even that doesn't solve the problem when ads jump into the middle of your videos. Then I'm impatiently waiting for the "Skip" button to spare my hearing. Seriously, all good. But at least give us just a little bit of a break chasing a comfortable and "useful" volume. I never hear the beginning of your videos. As a reference, I'm on KZbin at setting 30 on my volume, and have to jump to 70 to not be struggling to hear you. Then *BAM* the ad hits.

Any reason not to go to ISO 400 and shutter speed 1/200?
@fjhphoto
@fjhphoto Жыл бұрын
Those settings would have resulted in 2 stops darker for the background. My goal was to do the opposite; I wanted the background to be brighter without overexposing the highlights. It's why I brought up the background exposure a little by raising the shadows in lightroom.
