Thanks so much for checking out a dance practice. Ok, so I am a 51 yo ARMY whose niece was BIG time in to NSync and BSBs, and I took her to their concerts as a gift to her (and to my brother so he wouldn’t have to go with her😂) and as talented as those young men are, they do not even come close to BTS from a choreography or stage production quality. I mean that with no disrespect to the other groups but BTS really are on another level when it comes to performance, dance skill, and lyrical depth. A lot of other Korean groups are very talented as well…. But in my humble biased opinion, they do not include the total package of artistry, humanity, and personality as BTS. You need to watch the DKDK TV explanation of this song. RM is being the little crowtit at the beginning and when they are dancing with their legs out straight they are the storks, those who are silver spoons. You need to see them doing this on stage to see J-Hope really going off doing the hip thrusts and the splits. Such a fun song with a real message. I’m glad you enjoy it as much ad I do.

I really love it when they have fun during dance practice and Baepsae is a fun song even on their live stages for this. They usually take turns in taking the center at the end to do a freestyle which explains why Suga tried to randomly do the twerk lol love watching your reaction (and witnessing you guys going deep into the rabbit hole) BTS discography is truly insane. you haven't even touched their Japanese tracks or BTS World soundtrack album or their storyline which we all call as BU (Bangtan Universe). you'll truly get windblown if you try to dive into any of the above. trust me.

This is one of their best dance practices! Love it so much! You guys should def check out a live version of this song, it’s usually in a medley in the later shows but it is fiiiiire. If you can find a front row fan cam from the Love Yourself or Speak Yourself tour, watch out! As a 90s teen, no, the boy bands (that I loved!) then did not go anywhere near this hard. BTS blows them out of the water.

I loved BSB and NSYNC as a kid, and I will always have a soft spot for them. Listening to them always brings back such a sense of nostalgia, but... They don't compare to BTS. Neither in vocals nor in dance moves. The guys are totally out of this world and I'm so grateful that they were able to create music like this and will continue to do so 💜

This dance practice was pure chaos and them goofing off. The 8 count freestyle solo at the end is typically performed by J-Hope during live performances, but in the full video you see them doing rock paper scissors to see who will perform it here. It was hilarious because the first people to get ruled out was the entire dance line. So all of them were laughing because, while they can all dance, it was going to be one of the less strong dancers who had to perform the solo. The look on Suga's face when it ended up having to be him was so worth it.

Oh and by the way I was a big boy band fan (NKOTB/Backstreet Boys/Nsync) but BTS is nothing like those guys-no offense.These guys do more than just do choreo…they do HARD choreo, write, produce music and their lyrics always have deep meaning behind them. When you know the imagery of the song, the dance becomes even better because they use birds and birds’ legs as an allegory due to a korean idiom, and so they incorporated the leg movement and flapping hands like birds wings into the choreo 😆👍🏻

The fact of this choreography and its key point: the hip thrust. It's not just a sexy move, but it reinforces the song's message. It's basically "f*ck you". To contextualize: BTS in this song criticizes the older generations who say that the new generations have everything easier. no other band does what BTS do or have the quality that BTS and Big Hit (Hybe) put into everything they do. They are incredible dancers, incredible singers, their videos are incredible, their presentations are incredible, their shows, their performance, their entertainment programs are crazy. All of them with the most high quality Production.

What I think makes BTS above all other artists is that they take a hand in writing and producing their music. So the messages of the songs are aligned with what they want to impart. And of course, the performance talent is excellent! But outside of performing, they’re sincere, funny, and loving. Something that cannot be faked long term… and they have been communicating with their audience for almost 10 years. As for Bapsae, the song is about those born in different social classes. The haves and have nots. Those born with silver spoons and those born with wooden spoons. Those born with long legs, and those with short legs (like a crow tit). Those born with advantages tell those less than them they just have to work hard. But those disadvantaged has been working so hard already… some with even 2 jobs. And when one of the disadvantaged start climbing the ladder, the advantaged ones say that the disadvantaged should know their place - that status quo should be maintained. So it’s a never ending battle for the disadvantaged.

They ARE special. (Sorry... but this will probably be long.) You mentioned that all of the other kpop artists are doing this.... basically working this hard. And all kpop artists do work REALLY hard, no doubt. What sets BTS apart (other than their versatility) is that they had to work soooo much harder than the other groups to get ANY recognition because they didn't come from any of the big 3 entertainment corporations. They were put together by this little start-up company that almost tanked. And they were given more artistic freedom than the other kpop groups which lead to them coming up with the variety of songs that we get to enjoy. But, for me, I think it was amazing that Big Hit gathered these 7 guys together... and most of them, by kpop standards, had some flaw (looks, never danced or sang before, etc) that would have made them unacceptable to other companies as an idol. But they also all have strengths that, when combined together, make them something so unique. That's the problem with the kpop industry, in general. They are looking for perfection in the combination of looks, dance, vocals.... but not really looking for...I don't know... soul, maybe? They want pretty faces and voices to make money for them....not really to make art. BTS makes art.

The funniest part about this song is that while it’s hype and catchy, the lyrics actually call out older generations for causing a lot of economic issues in Korea while at the same time judging youth for not working hard enough. The song compares people born with silver spoons vs "bapsae" (crow-tit), a small bird that’s a metaphor for those not born into privilege, which is why there are so many funny references to birds in the choreo and where the lyric, "They call me Bapsae", comes from. A casual/non-Korean speaking fan might miss that their lyrics (minus most of their English songs) are rather deep, especially the ones written by the rappers who have been writing verses from early on, so the KZbin channel DKDKtv made an entertaining video explaining Bapsae to give listeners the cultural context/translation. Honestly though, this song was even better when I went to their concert in 2017.

I used to like NSync and Backstreet boys back when they were popular, and they never even came close to the talent and passion of BTS. Even in comparison to other KPop groups. Their talent, their message, mixed with their passion, and their chemistry, and the team that supports them (Hitman Bang and the BIG HIT team). There is no one else that comes close. 💜

Backstreet Boys and N'Sync have their personalities and in jokes that their fans know and love, however they were very much pre-KZbin. BTS was active on social media before their debut and never stopped. They are incredibly smart about how they interact with their fans and provide content. There is an abundance of content out there., Also, they are unlike any group I've ever followed in that they are unafraid to allow their music to be influenced by whatever piques their interest. Their music is all incredibly well-crafted, but they have a huge variety of styles. I am convinced that, no matter what music you love, there is a BTS song that will appeal to you.

If you pay attention you'll see the choreo is perfectly shows what's the lyrics says. As an example the choreo shows how parents and teachers tell kids to chase your dreams. It's really creative and fun. Thanks for the reaction 💜️💜️

So, there are a few places in the choreo that aren't actually in the real choreo. The way Yoongi and Kookie started dancing crazy at the end were actually punishments from their variety show Run BTS. If they loose a challenge in that show they have to do something crazy in public. The best example is poor V's punishment in the GoGo Dance Practice.
