Best comment I’ve heard with regard to his English. EVAR. *virtual high five* RM taught himself English by watching the 90s sitcom Friends. He watched the entire series once with Korean subtitles, then again with English subtitles, and then with no subtitles and he had it. Dude is LITERALLY near-genius with an IQ of 148. He tested in the top 1% in the country in the past. So when you’re reading his solo lyrics or anything he’s helped with in BTS, there’s a lot of complexity and depth etc. Best. Leader. Ever.

You know...I didn’t even see his comment in a sexual preference light, but as admiration/appreciation. Like the difference between ‘appealing’ versus ‘off-putting. For me it’s like Korean ‘skinship’, where couples touch each other affectionately, but so do same-sex friends but it’s not sexual at all. As Kpop has gained visibility here in the West, I’ve been happily surprised that more straight guys haven’t reacted negatively, assuming all the idols are gay. Honestly, I think we in the West are the losers for assigning things with such narrow meaning. We miss out on something valuable and life-affirming, you know? Studies even show that babies who are denied physical, soothing touch are developmentally delayed and suffer both psychologically and emotionally. I realize all of this might sound ‘preachy’ or critical of your comment and I don’t mean it that way at all. And you’re right, a lot of people have responded quite favorably to BTS. I’m just responding because I’m fascinated by other cultures and positive things I wish were more present in my world too. Ultimately, isn’t it so great for ARMY to see our boys get appreciation and respect? I love it!!

D N It's just the fact that he made it purely on his own. He went to Seoul at 18, with no support from the friends or family. His family nearly disowned him and cut off all contact. His friends called him a sellout and turned against him. Yoongi was alone in a new city, trying to pursue his dream. He struggled financially and had a part time job in the early mornings. He shattered his should at work, but he still went to dance practice in the same day. He couldn't afford to lag behind, he couldn't afford to not make it. He hated himself, he wanted to die and he was utterly alone. Even after BTS debuted, they still struggled a lot. Yoongi couldn't even go on stage without breaking down. BTS slept in one room and were barely fed. Any food they did get went to Jimin because his abs were a part of the NMD concept. In 2014, BTS were going to disband, after NO. They only stayed together because Bang PD made a promise to Namjoon, he made a promise to him that he would never have to be alone ever again. In my opinion, EXID and BTS had to overcome the most hardships, while still miraculously succeeding. The KPop industry is harsh, of course it is. But you usually have a wealthy company to back you up

Actually RM learned english because he loves rap/hiphop and he listens to a lot of it and got a bit of the accent when speaking english due to those influences. This was what he usually say before (when he was an underground rapper) and after debut in interviews and vlogs. The "learned-english-by-watching-TVshowFRIENDS" thing is also a factor or helped him in learning i guess but it all started with his love for Hiphop. :)

He definitely watched the show and probably learned a lot of slang and grammatical things from it but the accent isn't from their. He definitely picked the accent up from rap music in America because he tends to switch between a Bronx and Californian accent. Kinda like what Rich Brian did.

RM studied English by watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S lol. He would watch it with Korean subtitles and pay attention to what they said, and then once he got a good grasp he would watch it in English subtitles and eventually he would watch it without subtitles. His mom got him a whole bunch of DVDs of it to help him lol.

About the live performances strikes, it's about live performances shown on TV: formats like MCountdown, MAMA, anything under Mnet (the logo always shows at the beginning of the video). Those are the risky ones. Mostly, this happens because when an artist performs at a TV network, they hand the rights to that specific performance to them. Be careful of compilations too, as they sometimes show bits of those TV performances and they are getting strikes because of that (which is absolutely ridiculous). Live performances from BTS exclusive concerts belong only to BigHit (BTS' company, the one that uploaded the MVs you already reacted to). So that one other company making the strikes has no hold over them. As I said before, > is one iconic performance and it's from a BTS exclusive concert. Then, if you want, you could check all the other members live in another of their concerts: > (if you search on youtube with those words, there's one that pops out that says "eng subbed" on the title). Those are examples of live performances from their exclusive concerts that are safe from this particular problem.

I usually don't watch reaction videos because you can tell when people dont get into but continue to do it, and at that point you can tell it's just for the views. But you guys get so into its, i relate so hard. Its also hilarious to watch you guys all pick your bias' and not even realize that is what you're doing. To answer the question about RM learning english. Yes, he got it from the show Friends, but he also has one of the highest IQs in South Korea. So he is extremely smart and that's why it was so easy for him. I think he watched the show 3 times and had the whole language down. But because he kept talking smack in interviews about everyone else not knowing english, they all started working on it. They have a lot of recognition all over the world though so I think they're also doing it so it's easier for them to speak with all of their fans which is great. Bts are super humble guys, and definetly someone who a lot of people can look at to follow their dreams, thats what they stand for and I'm glad you guys are giving them a chance and seem to enjoy what you see. Great songs to react to, Cypher pt 3 (my favorite cypher), Come Back Home (remake of an older korean song "angry hungry , yes I'm hangry" is my ringtone), Fire (the foot work though), RM- Do You, JHope- 1 Verse. And to go to other people who arent BTS, you guys should look into Dean, Zico, p-H1, Jay Park, Crush, Sik-K, DPR Live. You guys are doing great, love you! ✌🏻
