Why the hell did your group even bother with Jimin reactions, or BTS for that matter…for views by Army to pad the KZbin algorithm for you? With the exception of Curtis and one other of you (sorry I don’t know your name), there couldn’t be a more disappointing, disrespectful, group of BTS reactors! This is not just a rap group, which seems to be all you’re interested in. Serendipity is such a beautiful song. One of those, that can be listened to literally every day. It’s just something very calming, soothing and comforting about it. Jimin’s voice is so pure and full of emotions. The MV itself is aesthetically very pleasing, every frame is so picturesque and there’s a lot of symbolism included. Jimin just has that ability to captivate. I absolutely love this song! Thank you.

Hi guys. This is what you need to know about this track. “Intro: Serendipity” serves as the Intro song for the first installment of the Love Yourself Trilogy, Love Yourself 承 ‘Her’. This was lead vocalist Jimin’s solo song, out of the other four solo intros performed by the vocal line, “Euphoria” by Jungkook, “Singularity” by V, and “Epiphany” by Jin. A full length version of Serendipity was released in the last installment of the trilogy, Love Yourself 結 ‘Answer’. Serendipity is a song written about two lovers who discovered each other coincidently; The word itself meaning, “the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way.” The music video of Serendipity, a.k.a the comeback trailer of the Love Yourself 承 ‘Her’ album was dropped on September 5th 2017, deeming it as the first intro to be made by a Vocalist of the boy group. WHEN YOU CALLED ME I BECAME YOUR FLOWER A reference to the poem “Flower” by Kim Chunsu: “Before I called his/her name, he/she was nothing more than a gesture…When I called her name, she came to me and became a flower." These lines from the poem give voice to something (in this case, a person) in order for it to be expressed, for it to bloom. An interesting analysis of Kim Chunsoo’s poem, who is one of Korea’s leading modern poets. The message of the poem seems to speaks of true love. As mentioned above, the line , “When I called her name, she came to me and became a flower” is an exceptionally interesting line alluded to in Serendipity. The poem Flower seems to be more than just a very sentimental romantic poem; It is because that the poet seems to address the human’s instinctive pursuit of wanting to be recognized and acknowledged by others, rather than merely depicting emotions from being in love. Similarly, Serendipity addresses the same issues. Accordingly, the main focus of the poem includes the process of “he” in the poem who once is a gesture becoming a flower, then a meaning to somebody. Similarly, Jimin here as a lover yearns to become worthy of his lover. Perhaps Jimin could be suggesting that whilst he fills their world with ‘ joy’, he still feels the need to become useful. Alternatively, the symbolism of the flower could suggest once again how the impossible becomes possible. A flower is usually associated with remembrance as well as beauty but also, impermanence. This is quite contrasting to Jimin hinting that their love is immortal. Perhaps this again connects to the beginning line, ‘ All this is no coincidence ‘ questioning the true reality of love and if it possible that love isn’t simply a coincidence. Interestingly, the lyrics mirror slightly ‘ All this is no coincidence’ towards the song, DNA, which similarly speaks out upon two lovers and their fates. The line ‘ None of this is a coincidence ’ greatly parallels the line ‘ All this is no coincidence ‘ in the beginning of Serendipity. Both songs were released in the same month in 2017, however, Serendipity was released first. Perhaps RM could have given us a slight hint towards DNA, as well as reinstate the message that love isn’t a common occurrence. MAYBE IT’S THE PROVIDENCE OF THE UNIVERSE IT JUST HAD TO BE THAT “Providence” means destiny, God’s will, the divine intervention, the protective care of god or nature as a spiritual level. Somehow the universe brought these two people together by fate. That’s why the lyrics say, “It just had to be that.” These lyrics are describing love as something sacred between two souls that can’t be shaped and created by human minds. Love is more than the material and insignificant meaning that today’s society is giving to it. YOU KNOW, I KNOW YOU ARE ME, I AM YOU When we feel like we are resembling our soul mate more, then we know that what we have is true love. In this scene of the MV, after Jimin pricks his finger, and it bleeds, we’re sucked into a galaxy vortex. It begins to take shape of an eye, before we zoom back out, revealing Jimin’s eye. AS MUCH AS MY HEART FLUTTERS, I’M WORRIED Even when things are going well, we still have our worries. Everyone is terrified that family, friends, society, the world, just anything or anyone might destroy the love just because they can’t see the feelings from two soul mate’s eyes. We get scared of losing the significant other because of somebody else’s influence. THE UNIVERSE HAS MOVED FOR US WITHOUT MISSING A SINGLE THING OUR HAPPINESS WAS MEANT TO BE CUZ YOU LOVE ME, AND I LOVE YOU Around the same time these lyrics is sang by Jimin, the happening of a solar eclipse is occurring in the music video. This could be the representation of the Universe moving for the narrator and his lover. The occurrence of a Solar eclipse is very rare, and a perfect one, when the moon perfectly covers the sun, is even rarer. Thus by making a reference to this extraordinary natural phenomenon, the narrator is emphasizing how much he believes that they were meant to be. However, even though that universe has moved, nothing is out-of-place. Just like even though in the MV when everything was shaking, Jimin was still smiling unbothered. This is the impact true love has over two souls. It’s almost as if the stars itself are touched by the genuine love that bonds these individuals. Real happiness cannot be held in human hands. “Happiness always looks small while you hold it in your hands, but let it go, and you learn at once how big and precious it is.” - Maxim Gorky YOU’RE MY PENICILLIUM, SAVING ME, SAVING ME Penicillin was hailed as a miracle drug/vaccine and saved countless lives in World War II. Referencing it might be to show how a significant other can be like a miracle to one’s life, once more tying into the song’s title. I’M YOUR CALICO CAT, HERE TO SEE YOU Calico are a breed of cats that are distinctively known for their orange and black, spotted or particoloured coat. Being a female dominate breed. It’s considered almost impossible for there to be a male calico cat. Due to males only having one X chromosome rather than two, they are unable to be both orange and black at the same time (because this requires 2 X chromosomes). Trying to portray the idea of a destined soul mate/one and only love, Jimin refers himself to/as Calico cat. He is rare, and exists only for his love.

I love the Analysis! 💜💜💜💜👍 But I think the context is important. You mentioned DNA and the Album title. The choosen visuals and details contain a story that is told over the 3 Albums that ends with the message of "Love Yourself". It begins here with a first love that is new, a little bit frightening but also mystical first romantic love. DNA goes from there and confirms that with similar visuals like the eye/the universe/space and even a Serendibity scene and is now something real and fated. But already at the end of the album doubt comes up. The second Album of the Series "Tear" begins with "Singularity" (which out of context makes little sense). Here Taehyung ignores what he already knows is wrong by hiding it from himself. The part he pushed into a lake that is frozen over. It makes funnily enough even more sense when you think about the "Map of the Soul". The lake as a symbol for the uncounscious/the part about ourself we push away. In the video he ends "crying" from behind a mask. Than follows "Fake Love" where the bond break as it is built on the lie about who we are as a person and how the love that seems... overwhelming maybe... is drowned by the pain the denial of self brings. "Epiphany" brings it to the end with the conclusion that we need to love our imperfect selves first before we can have a healthy relationship to anyone else. That actually means any realtionship not just romantic ones including family, friends and so on. "Idol" celebrates that selflove at the end. So yeah as a lyric Analysis your post is perfect but the missing context - as we have concept Albums here - needs to be noted as well. As such the style of "Serendibity" makes perfect sense with the little bit of contemplative loneliness that is unfullfilled till it is seemingly added in "DNA". Thank you! 💜

So, they didn't "cut a verse" - when they have a comeback (releasing a new album), they release a Comeback Trailer which is a song that gives the general vibe of the album and it's released a few days before the album. Each of the members take turn being responsible for the Comeback Trailer. When they release a repackaged album then they'll usually add to the song and release a full length version. I am not clear whether you guys really got the meaning of the song. It is about leaving the safety of a simple uncomplicated sheltered life to find beauty and a sense of self by engaging the unpredictable sometimes dangerous often beautiful wonders of the world outside that simple existence. Serendipity extends on Wing's Demian and Nietzsche philosophy that one must step beyond the defined world one was raised in and explore aspects of existence that do not fit cleanly into right and wrong. Jimin through embracing this new unfamiliar universe can find the path to love himself and gain full person. It is serendipity that he now can go forward happily.

This trailer is Intro. Serendipity which is only short version of Serendipity. Serendipity means the occurrence and the development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way. The lyrics are beautiful and dreamy...Everytime when I see this performance it reminds me of the book called 'Little Prince' by Saint-Exupery.
