I am firmly in the camp that all art is subjective and any meaning you take from it is the "right" one. Art is meant to inspire a reaction in the consumer, not an argument as to whether that reaction is valid. Are we good? 😊 (The only time I challenge other's interpretation is when they deny Spring Day could be a memorial to the victims of the Sewol Ferry disaster. I'm wholly convinced and I believe it is disrespectful to the victims and survivors to deny it is a possible meaning.)

im so in love with this song bc of how creative it is, im not sure if you understood but this song has 3 different meanings to the idea of losing something/someone/oneself: FOR RM: - he uses the word tear as in tears you cry. when losing something he feels sadness and grief. he’s emotional and longs for comfort FOR SUGA: - he uses the word tear as in ripping tear to show how he feels. when losing something he feels upset and empty, as if his heart has been ripped to pieces. he’s more angry instead of sad but is still grieving in a different way FOR JHOPE: - he uses the word fear. he explains how he’s afraid of even thinking about losing something and doesn’t want to imagine a life without that thing i hope this clears some things up at a lot of ppl question if they mean tear (crying tears) or tear (ripping tear) but it’s actually both!! this is is truly amazing so thank you for reacting!!

I just saw them live on Saturday and Sunday night and they KILLED IT. They performed this followed by Mic Drop in Dior military-style gear and it was everything. You could feel the beat from your head to your toes. The bass was insane. See them live if you can. Worth every cent.

*Fun fact they are actually using a double meaning for the word “Tear”* In RM’s verse he’s talking about “Tear” as in the pain of their relationship led him to cry. In Suga’s verse he talked about “Tear” in terms destroying their love and “tearing” or ripping apart his heart so that there can be no lingering feelings towards her. So when the chorus came through they actually said “Tear” (as in crying) then “Tear” (as in tear/rip it apart) and “fear” as in now they’re afraid to have another relationship.

Ah yes. Outro: Tear aka the greatest song ever written and composed. The song that created music. On a serious note, while this song sounds amazing and it's a total bop, the lyrics really make it even greater. I was playing KZbin on my TV while cooking the other day and this lyric video came up. My mom came over and she knows I love BTS but she's never heard a song by them before. She was reading the lyrics and was blown away. Kinda a bummer when I see people react to deep songs like this, only trying to turn up when the lyrics are so meaningful. Glad you guys didn't do that!
