For me, BTS' Japanese songs are the most Romantic songs in their catalogue. By that, I don't mean romance as in courtship, it's more classical Romanticism, as in overflowing with emotion, drama/melodrama, ideas conveyed more through feeling than fact, etc. I don't know the actual linguistic differences, but to my ears, Korean is a relatively staccato/rhythmic language, whereas Japanese sounds more legato/melodic. The Romantic modality + Japanese rhythms & phonemes = vocalists' paradise. Ofc, BTS' entire vocal line are fantastic ballad singers, but Jin's particular kind of expressiveness has never met a power ballad he couldn't slay.

@@goreyfantod5213 I've always found it fascinating that BTS's Korean-language songs translated into Japanese and BTS's original Japanese songs feel so different. I've read that Japanese audiences prefer higher ranges and that's certainly one aspect of it -- the vocalists' tones emphasis clarity (Jin shines particularly brightly in these songs) and the rappers definitely lean into their lighter, softer, more melodic deliveries.

Those triple high notes were Jin. There’s a fancam version where you can see him singing that part. This version, unfortunately, the camera was not on him when he did those high notes. It’s simply amazing.

I absolutely love all of their voices on Crystal Snow but I have to say that especially when it comes to their Japanese songs Jin's voice really stands out to me. That triple high note by Jin is truly beautiful, and what is amazing is that is isn’t overshadowing JKs vocals. It’s super powerful, but Jin belts it out in such a way so that it’s not the focus, as wonderful as it is. So many people miss it that it’s sad, because it is so powerful. They all sing this amazing, but Jin and Jimin seem to really have such great affinity for Japanese songs. Thank you for your reaction, I just really love this song…

Oh I loved this. EXO CBX has a Japanese song called Diamond Crystal that I absolutely adore and although this song sounds completely different, it gives me the same emotionally captivated feeling. Just beautifully performed vocals and letting the song's emotions shimmer in the air. Hmm like crystal snow? Groan ok I'm leaving now. 😅But this was beautiful.

beautiful song and the only one I feel the guys made a mistake on who sings what. (That was jin hitting that one). I would have liked Jin, Jimin and V to take leads on all of the song. Let JK do adlibs and the rappers have their parts This might be the only one I think this on. They handle ballads so well, But Jin is King on these songs. Jin flips from mix, to head to falsetto and back to a nice mix so smooth! Not many vocalists could handle it and make it that coherent.
