- Do yourself a favour and check out the explanation video for Ddaeng made by DKDKTV. It's pure lyrical genius. They use the word Ddaeng in like 7-8 different meanings. - Supreme Boi was a part of the original BTS line-up but when Bang PD changed the concept from hiphop to idol only RM chose to stay in the group. Supreme Boi stayed as an in-house producer though. - The last part of the Cypher medley that you thought was a separate song was actually Cypher pt 4. It's the conclusion of the Cyphers, hence very different from the other three. By then they were just done with the haters and basically let them know that they didn't care anymore and that they didn't need anyone's validation except their own. In other words: "Get a life, guys!" 😏 💜

3:26 you haven't heard his verse in cyper pt.3 yet but it's truly the most iconic thing ever (this one is from pt.2). in part 3 he has the famous line:"as you know, my voice turns people on. whether it's a guy or a girl, my flexible tongue will send you to hong kong (I think you know what that means, I don't want to explain it here haha)

Cypher Medley 🔥🔥🔥 The cypher you really liked, was Cypher Pt. 3 : Killer; they performed it at the Yet To Come In Busan concert. RM's part in Ddaeng 😏🥵; and I will never recover from OT7 Ddaeng!! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜😩🙌🏼! ✨️eta✨️ - this OT7 Ddaeng was during 5th Muster, which was also when we got that iconic performance of Dimple and Pied Piper! Can you imagine? I would have expired on the spot. 😂 Lucky, lucky ARMYs in that audience. 💜 There's also an OT7 Daechwita and OT7 Chicken Noodle Soup! 💜 Highly recommended both!

The OT7 Chicken Noodle is amazing. And Jimin feels like such a boss - and that's without even open his mouth. When he gets out of the car, then leans against it, his presence is so commanding. And then when he starts rapping... He has his own unique style, quietly commanding, and full of restrained swag. His rap has certainly evolved.💜😍 Though in Ddaeng he also brought a cute, flirty edge to his rap. Not quite seductive, but not innocent either. Mind you, it was performed right after the Dimple/Pied Piper double, so that flirty/seductive feel is a given.💜😘 Then, of course, there is Yoongi and Jimin's performance of Tony Montana. Jimin's growl gives you the most delightful shivers 💜😍 And Tae has grown into his own rap style. Deep, dark, and velvet smooth; that raps around you, compelling and almost seductive.💜🥰

thing is no absolutely NO ONE has even a fraction of bts rapline’s rapping sills or writing acuity in kpop, so u won’t get that in kpop outside these 3. Most rappers are only rappers because they couldn’t make it to the vocal line 😬it’s very unfortunate that these kpop companies and the kpop industry treat rapping as a “backup” plan for non vocalists, something that they can somehow treat these untalented people say a few words fast enough in succession on some random beat , thrown in some cringe English and voila! a rapper🥴 when rap and hip hop is probably the hardest genre of music to do! Thing is you can create a Perry’s decent vocalists from scratch, but rappers? need to born with that innate talent and lyricism

So after the Busan concert Namjoon said they would probably never perform Cypher 3 again but that would "probably write a new song". Bahaha. Poor Suga was sick during this medley. The Cyphers really call out their haters in the industry and all those who put them down. Supreme Boi is one of their in house producers. The Bae in Cypher 4 is a double entendre meaning bae as in looking down and teasing them by that name, and secondly it can mean "sunbae" which is the proper way to address elders, once again calling out those elder groups that hated them. As others said, you HAVE to watch the explanation video because the word Ddaeng has like a million meanings. It's a song of word play. RM is genius. And it's not anywhere official because it was a track made for what we call Festa, which is the time when BTS and ARMY celebrate our anniversary of coming together that takes place for several days. The one where the vocal line did Ddaeng is from what is called the Muster which is just a concert in Korea where they perform lots of songs that are old and some new. It's like a meetup for BTS and ARMY.

Ok, so, DDAENG is a lyric MASTERPEICE. Like, really. I can't explain it that well in a comment, but basically is a constant word play because "ddaeng" has many different meanings in Korean. I think that they use it like with 10 different meanings or something. Here's a video explained by a Korean because it also has a lot of cultural references that can't be literally translated: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJWtnWSJgZVmd8U

Hi! A few quick things: I HIGHLY recommend you check out the "Explained by a Korean" video by DKDKTV for "DDAENG." There's a LOT of cultural references in the song that makes it go even harder. So, so, so, so, so good! Second, Supreme Boi is a producer, and IIRC, was a trainee with the boys at BigHit back when what eventually became BTS was going to be a straight rap group. Finally, in Korean, often when you see double consonants, it means that the sound is more "hard," with a little breath behind it. In the case of the "DD," rather than sounding like a soft "D," it's almost like a voiced "T" sound, if that makes any sense. Like, in English, when we make the "T" sound, it's just breath. But in Korean, with the "DD" sound, it's the English "T" with sound attached, making it like a more percussive "D" sound. All of which is to say, yes, '"DDAENG" sounds like "dang." :) PS -- In general, Jaeguchi is not the best lyric video creator. While I very much appreciate their efforts, they often mis-assign lyric lines, and their translations can be...challenged. But they did a good job on this one.

Cypher Medley is a snippet of all four of their Cyphers 1-4. Jhope rapped part of Cypher 1, Suga rapped part of Cypher 2, RM rapped part of Cypher 3 and they all rapped Cypher 4. My favorite version of Cypher 3 is at their Yet to Come concert in Busan. It’s the last time they will perform Cypher 3. They laid it all out and changed up the lyrics and really told their haters and those using them to F off and you felt it. Thanks for reacting! 💜🫰

Man, I get so mad when people watch these lyric videos (not at rj but at the people that make them), especially for the rap line songs. They are actually the worst. They are not made by armys but by people that only care about posting the videos before anyone else so they get more views. They devalue bts lyricism so much that sometimes they don’t even make sense. Unfortunately they are the most watched so everyone thinks they are good and as a result they get even more views. We have been trying to take these channels (lemori and jaeguchi most of all) down for so long but some people just don’t care. Sometimes they even trend higher than the mv itself. It’s so frustrating If you want to read translations made by an army I suggest doolsetbangtan. She also writes notes to explain cultural references. I think theirs are really the best 💜

So much gets lost for these songs from cultural and historical perspective. Rap is not normally a genre I enjoy...except for BTS, but I LOVE when the rapline just goes off like this. Knowing the backstory and understanding the context helps to understand just how special and different as a group they are with the rapline as the foundation of their music. They only perform b tracks and tracks that are gifted to us on SoundCloud at their birthday party (called festa) or technically what's considered our birthday party (called muster). They do fun stuff like having everyone sing a strictly rap line song. And they put on these concerts only in Korea and Japan. I think u watched a fan cam for the cypher medley bc there's actual footage of that medley. Also more of their older music medley was on that day and it's rap heavy as well. Definately watch the DKDKTV Ddang explained video. Theres a lot of wordplay with korean context that you just wont get unless a korean or someone intimately familiar with the culture explains to you

I know I'm in the minority, but I don't love the group version of Ddaeng. It's okay/cute. Much prefer the rap line on their own. RM's stutter rap is so iconic in this song and I miss it here. And each of the cyphers (4) is worth checking out individually.

Cypher pt 1-4 are songs. Suga did his part from Cypher pt 2. I think RM is doing his bit from Cypher 3. JHope did part 1. they are doing Cypher 4 when they walked out to the smaller stage try out the full songs. Ddaeng is a total diss song, mostly aimed at the Korean haters. that's why all the Korean references

I hope you'll be able to react to some groups like *Gfriend* and *Dreamcatcher* too because they really have some unique concept and music which differ themselves from other groups!

One fun thing you may want to do is simply start from the beginning and work your way through their entire soundtrack. Another KZbinr Landon Mark has done that and actually has a full up to date spreadsheet worked out that you can use that makes it super easy to follow

Just popping in to say that the Jaeguchi channel usually has very poor translations, so the views aren't a good way to judge authenticity
