This was edited down from a 19+ version so Jungkook could watch it. Apparently JImin drowns, JHope overdoses, Suga burns the motel, Jungkook gets hit by a car and V kills the guy. But were not 100% on this or what happened to Jin and RapMon. When I first watched the MV I kind of got what they were trying to say with depression, suicide, death, etc. However I felt the MV was leaving some stuff out. Maybe the 19+ MV will fill in the gaps and finish the story. They may have made this MV a bit unclear as those emotions are difficult to understand when younger, especially when it comes to young love

There's apparently an explicit version. They released on twitter a pic with V drenched in blood so I'm guessing he killed the dude? I feel like Jimin committed suicide, J-hope dealing with some medical stuff/depression, Jin with depression, Suga just feeling hopeless (on twitter it showed him pouring gasoline, so I guess he's doing something with that lighter...), RM just wandering aimlessly, Jungkook just looking for fights. I feel like their happy moments were all a dream or the only time they felt they can escape was when they were together as a group. There's a lot of interpretations in the M/V comment section. angelicfreakalee my thoughts, and i could be totally off, was that a few of them die through suicide or violence and a few of them are left on earth thinking about the good old times when they were happy and friends and carefree. so jungkook wanting to pick a fight might be him dealing with the loss and jin putting those flower petals could be sort of like an 'in memory of' thing and rapmon just feeling lost w/o V, Suga and Jhope, Jimin (who I think all died bc of the shit they were dealing with) and jin and jungkook were crying as well. there's an assumption that jungkook got hit by a car and there's a chance that it was bc he was lost in thought over missing his friends i think that way, they'll release a good message like suicide hurts everyone and affects everyone and that even though some ppl seem happy and carefree, they still have their struggles

I think the lollipop here symbolises a cig. I think! Lol. I don't know about others but I find this mv beautiful. It seems like each and every one of them has their own struggle. A loss of a beloved, depression, break up, or a troubled gf/unrequited love of some sort. Anyhoo, despite that, they are all happy and smiles when they're together and at the end, it seemed like they're helping one another letting go of their dark past/present. But then again, that's my interpretation of the mv. Every individual read things differently. Haha

"Suga: The girl was playing around with him, using him as some sort of a rebound. The room he was in symbolized her keeping him in the dark, going to him only when she felt like it. The lighter in his hand signified the relationship. The constant flame-on and flame-off thing was like his relationship with her, on and off. When he finally threw the lighter, it was him being done with being her rebound. J-Hope: The girl used him as a way to boost her confidence. In a way, he carried her flaws. She made him feel so flawed so that she'd be in control instead. Him looking into the mirror, scrutinizing his face was him questioning if it was worth letting her put him down. Those pills in the cupboard signified the girl. She was killing him, draining him of everything and he knew she wasn't worth all that but she was addictive, just like those pills. He had grown so accustomed to her (just like those pills) that he needed a constant dose of her (those pills) just so he wouldn't feel the withdrawal. Him throwing away those pills was him giving up on her. The pills falling bits by bits signified him forgetting her slowly though his expression showed signs of withdrawal. Taehyung: The girl wasn't his. But the girl constantly went to him, informing him of her abusive boyfriend and Taehyung's just there waiting for her to leave that abusive boyfriend of hers and come to him instead but she couldn't do it. The line "Forgive me" as he made his way was him saying sorry for not doing anything earlier and he also says sorry for helping her in the worst way possible. The part where he wandered about with that rod in his hand was him contemplating his actions but eventually he made up his mind. He heads to her home and "kills" her boyfriend. When that happened, the girl was gone. In other words, she left him because even though he somewhat intended to help her, she still sided her abusive boyfriend. Him crying out expressed his frustration towards her but a second later where his cries decreased a slightly different kind of expression, that was him feeling as though the weight had been lifted off his chest. The weight was her. Jimin: The girl left him through a note. Him opening the tap signified the start of his sadness. The tub filling up signified him being swallowed by his heartbreak and pain. Him nearly dipping his whole head in was him nearly surrendering to depression but he didn't. Instead, he burned the note. And as it burned, he rose up, the sadness slowly draining away from him. Him letting the note go was him letting go of her. Rapmon: Him and the girl went about a cycle. Both of them knew it was the end but they let the cycle go on. She had pulled out of the cycle but he was still trying to keep her in. The petroleum station signified the two of them. Just like cars traveling everywhere only to still end up at the station to refill their oil tank, the two went about the cycle only to reach at the very same spot and each time, Rapmon would "add the oil" to attempt at "fueling" their relationship. The lollipop symbolized their relationship as well. Continue sucking on a lollipop and what do you get? Nothing, the flavor never changes, just like how no matter how hard he tried, the relationship wouldn't change. In the end, he accepts the fact that just like the lollipop, their relationship wasn't healthy. Him dumping the lollipop was him breaking out of the cycle. So what about the rest? Well let me talk about the scenes in which they were together as a group. The first ones were them being together physically but being elsewhere mentally. They didn't communicate, not even when they were walking on the railing. It was them individually pretending to be okay . The second scene in which they were rowdy and all, that was them escaping from the pain, wanting freedom. The end scene was basically the end stage of their recovery. Them sleeping was them finally resting in peace (they didn't die, that's not what I meant HAHA), the pain long gone. Jin: He represented all of them when they were together but mentally elsewhere. On the outside, they play it cool but on the inside, they were crying. The rose petals Jin laid out in the floor was the guys offering their love to the girl but the petals catching fire was the girl toying around with them, leaving the remnants of their love towards the girl. But Jin was basically the side of a guy which is seldom seen for guys always play it off as though they're okay. Jungkook: He symbolized them when they were rowdy and making their escape. Those bruises on him signified them getting hurt along the way as well as them being willing to "take a beating" for her but his scoff-smile was a way of showing that they were done with the girl. Jungkook wandering about and nearly getting hit by a car symbolized them being in a lost state, feeling completely numb before that whole escape thing."

Basically, they are all depressed and all of them commit suicide except for Jin. When Rapmonster is sucking the lollipop, it's actually a cigarette and when he throws it on the ground, the gas station blows up and he dies. Jimin drowns himself in his bathtub and V murders someone and either kills himself afterwards or goes to jail. Jungkook gets beat up by a bunch of thugs and then gets hit by the car Namjoon was filling up. J-Hope overdosed the pills that's why he collapsed on the road. Suga dumps gasoline all over his room then uses the lighter to set his room on fire which the then gets burned up in. Jin dosen't commit suicide and when he lays the white petals down then burns them, he is mourning the rest of the member's deaths.

From the comments that I've read I think that each one of them sorta took a wrong turn in a sense (Rapmon: cigs, Jimin: suicide, Kookie: hit by a car, V:jail for killing a man, Jhope: Overdose *someone call the doctor* , Suga: Idk tbh death by fire? LOL help please.) So the 6 petals Jin put down symbolized each of them and reminisces on the good times they had together even if it wasn't all that good (homeless?) Which is why he's all Jinbooty fetal position. And I guess he burns the petals to symbolize forgetting them but he can't? The end with them all sleeping is how he wishes they were (serene and peaceful) and the ending scenes in general is what he wished happened (Jhope dumping the pills) Idk that's just my opinion. Can't wait for that 19+ though

They will be releasing another version (19+) of MV.(Don't know when its gonna be. But soon..? I hope..) They had to cut more than 80 scenes in MV because Jungkook is still 18,9 years old. Bangtan’s “I NEED U” MV Interpretation I’ve seen this theory circulating around saying that the MV doesn’t actually portray them saying “as long as we’re together” but instead “even with you here, things still fall apart”. I’ve watched the MV countless times now and that theory seems more and more accurate every time. The scenes with all the members happily together take place in the past, and the solo shots are the present. Each member has a dilemma (to say the least) and some result in death so it wouldn’t be possible for them to be together at the end. SUGA: In the beginning, he’s sitting in his room playing with a lighter. BTS tweeted a deleted scene that shows Suga pouring liquid out, which my guess is gasoline. In the scene before tae walks into a room and pushes a guy, you see a hand strike the lighter and you see Suga swing his arms and flop on the bed. The lighter is not in his hands. I’m not sure if he was also in the fire himself (since he flopped on his bed), but he set his apartment on fire. JUNGKOOK: Through the MV, you see him outside at night. He walks down a street and bumps into these two guys, and the scene changes. Later, when the focus is back on him, you see him with a busted lip and a start of a black eye. BTS tweeted a deleted scene where Jungkook has the same wounds and looks like he’s in pain. You see him walk out of an alley, to be met with a car coming towards him. Jungkook gets hit by a car after being beat up in the alleyway. This happens after all the boys were together and happy because when they were together, Jungkook didn’t have any wounds. JIMIN: Jimin is in the bath for his solo shots, and at the end, you see him sink down underwater, drowning himself. JHOPE: In the end, you see him happily dumping out his pills in the fire (which makes me cry every damn time I see it) but following with the idea that “things still fall apart”, my guess is he goes through withdrawal. In scenes with all the boys, he gets rid of the pills, but in the opening scenes, he’s looking himself in the mirror and taking more out. Someone who survives on pills can’t just get rid of them one day and never look back. It takes time, and withdrawal is possible. I’m not sure if he overdoses, but you see him walking on a bridge later (still in a similar mood) and I saw some say he was on the drugs and jumped (there were no fences on the bridge he was on). TAEHYUNG: First, you see him standing up and put on a jacket+hood. On the ground as he is walking away are beer bottles. Then, you see him walking on an overpass, seemingly really pissed off, hitting a can with a stick. The next time you see him, he’s walking into an apartment and pushing a dude that was hitting a girl. The last time you see him in his solo shot, he is backing away, crying, shocked, jacket hanging off his shoulders. BTS tweeted a deleted scene that shows tae sitting on the ground with blood on his hands and face, so my guess is that he violently fought (and killed??) the guy with something he grabbed on the way into the apartment (focus on the flower plants, it looks like he grabs something from it). I’m assuming the alcohol gave him the adrenaline and afterwards, he’s shocked at what he’s done. He couldn’t have possibly been happily with the rest of the boys afterward if he did that. (The only thing that throws me off is that he is wearing a different shirt [white] than the shirt he walks to the apartment in [black]). RAPMON: He starts his solo scene at a gas station, lollipop in his mouth. A lot of people thought, in the teaser, that it was a cigarette at first. I think that it’s supposed to symbolize a cigarette since he wouldn’t actually be smoking (and its not 19+ video). At the end of his scene, he takes the lollipop out of his mouth, and drops it. If it was a cigarette, it would be highly dangerous sinCE HE IS AT A GAS STATON. WITH OIL AND CARS. Rapmon set his car+gas station on fire. JIN: No idea what happens with Jin, still up for interpretation, but you see him crying, holding flower petals that are later set on fire. After that scene, you see him lying on his bed in fetal position. The flowers were on fire on his apartment floor, and he is lying on his bed in defeat, I guess he set his place on fire and stayed. Another theory is that something about the flowers were bad; perhaps they were poisonous. Piecing all these together, it seems more of a story with a sad ending rather than a happy one. The shots of all the boys together seem like a memory, like the last time where they were all happy together before they all fell apart for different reasons. I saw this on tumblr for those who didn't really understand Jin's scenes. "Death by White Lilies The way Jin dies is by white lilies. I guess this is a Korean thing, but Koreans say that because white lilies have such a suffocating scent and their oxygen intake is higher than many flowers, you can die by sleeping in a room full of white liies."

from my own view, i think that the story goes like this. everyone was suicidal. suga wanted to like burn himself, jin just wanted to die, rapmon's lollipop represented a cigar, taehyung wants to die because of his family, jimin as you saw tried to drown himself, jhope wanted to swallow some pills for it to be over, and jeongguk just suffers from depression. the music video isn't actually about them needing a girl, it's about them needing each other to survive. when they were together, they were happy. that's why jhope ended up crying while throwing the pills in the fire. they were their own escape to happiness, they NEED each other. i actually cried while watching this for the first time in school because i can relate to this so much. this has to be the 'One Shot' or 'Please Don't' of 2015.

Someone else's theory not mine. It's brilliant! "I realized that everyone's 'deaths' (starting with Jimin's at 2:58) except Jin's happened at night or in a dark, gloomy kind of room. J-hope with the pills (you can see him staggering around then when he throws the pills in the flame (3:19) (since flame is apparently signifying life so in a way he took pills and overdosed himself. Jin was not in this bonfire scene), Suga with the fire in the motel (2:50 after lighting it he collapses on the bed and drops the lighter on the bed with his left hand (your right) then again at 3:18), Rap Mon and the lollipop (3:23) (signifying a cigarette and we all know those are dangerous in gas stations), Jungkook when he got ran over (3:16), Jimin's drowning (2:58). When V got (stabbed? Shot? killed a man? Let's wait for the 19+ version to see) at 3:08 it's more darker and gloomy even though when he entered to push that guy you can see daylight in the window. Now for Jin, its all white and brightly lit. He's seen crying and I'm guessing this takes place after those six's death (maybe the day after? He'd be in time for the bonfire that night) since he places six lilies on the floor. The lilies are the cause of his death. Apparently, in Korea, sleeping with lilies can kill you since they take in so much oxygen so, in theory, no oxygen = you die. Another thing is.. Jungkook seems as if he was beat up at 2:32. If his right corner of his mouth and right eye (seems more darker and swollen though it can just be the lighting) is anything to go by. His kind of dazed expression also looks like he was (not sure if it was those guys he bumped into that did that) The dripping faucet is shown afterwards which, apparently, is a symbolic way to show that you are losing full control or feeling things that you can't control. It can also mean being emotionally drained. What is it that he (maybe they?) can't control? At the end of the video, you can see all 7 of them peaceful and asleep. The fire is gone = no life. The ending scene is also in a different color (kind of like how Call Me Baby went black and white) which can signify a new life or a different era from before.
