I think they're confused because kpop stans started using the word "fancam" for almost any video, especially on twitter. But you are right, fancam is the video recorded by fans (and doesn't have to be for a singular idol either), not like "focus cam" recorded by the company itself.

To clarify the confusion over the term “fancam”, it originally meant videos taken by fans, including fansites, which are usually focused on one member but can also be group-focused. Following the rising popularity of fancams in kpop, music shows started recording and releasing their own member-focused “fancams”, which you can usually differentiate by the show’s logo in the corner. Most of the videos here are unofficial and recorded by fans, they look professional because fansites in korea are very dedicated and use professional cameras to record performances and take photos. Some even work as professional photographers. Hope this information is helpful!

Updated Jimin info that some aren't aware of: ❣JIMIN, born October 13, 1995, at age 11, started studying, performing, & competing (winning every competition), in hip hop, popping (excelled), & street dancing, while attending the renowned Just Dance Academy in Busan where he's from! He was so good that an instructor even had the high tuition fee waived at one point! This was while also attending middle school, where he loved sports, being quite athletic, joined the football team, excellent at track, great at basketball, & billiards! Jimin also, all throughout his schooling, was known as a top scholar, achieving perfect scores, especially in math & science which just always came easy to him! Jimin was even class president for 9 yrs in a row! Jimin, all throughout his schooling, was also quite good in art class, as well as calligraphy. Jimin, then also took up contemporary dance. The media, after seeing a performance of Jimin's performing at a huge Busan Festival Event, called Jimin "The rising star of Busan"!! JIMIN also studied ballet & traditional Korean dance while attending Busan High School of the Arts. Jimin still went to Just Dance Academy to take hip hop classes whenever he could because his first love has always been hip hop, even though he was now majoring in contemporary! JIMIN even had an offer to dance overseas, but declined because he also wanted to become a singer since the 2nd grade, to the dismay of one of his dance instructors who said "The world of dance was going to lose a great artist"!!
