domodachi is from RM’s recent album Right Place, Wrong Person. its a very experimental project. the album blends elements of hiphop, jazz, psychedelic rock, and r&b together. its one of my favorite albums ever. even outside of kpop. like this project blows past the box of kpop and dares to reshape and innovate hiphop as a genre in itself.

their music is pretty much never about a girl/someone romantically. awake was about how jin felt inadequate predebut/early post-debut, because he (felt he) wasn't as talented as the other members (coming in with zero experience & learning everything as a trainee), hence the line about "holding tightly to six flowers" - the flowers representing the members. and moon, like someone else already commented, was for/about army. 💜 also i'm sure you'll like any song better after seeing an actual performance, trust me! ps. rm's wildflower has an mv, with captions...

The Kim Line has a place in my heart, they have a range of voices that can set your mood in the right direction of emotions. Namjoon Kim is a great leader in BTS and has beautiful dragon-like eyes that you can get lost looking at them. Seokjin Kim has a funny dorky humor and love that we ARMY adore and respect. Taehyung Kim has an incredible voice that can go high pitch or go to a low deep pitch that can sway you where he wants you too. Good choices of solo songs for the three Kim men btw! 💜💜💜

Domodachi actually grew on me after some listens. I went from not really vibing with it to it getting stuck in my head randomly. But I would say I feel like it listens better when you hear how each song transitions from one another in the album because some songs connect together! Edit: also you’re such a mood with Tae, I remember this song coming out on my birthday! I surely enjoyed that lmao 💜 as a 2017 Army I enjoy seeing your journey a lot. :))

pretty much same i will admit the first interview i saw it was yoongi because he reminded me of a cat, and then i though rm was the most handsome but once i actually learned about their personalities and voices tae is literally my twin from another planet lol so i love him i love all the boys though and fell more and more in love with them as time goes on but tae i just see and it's like 'hey myself' and he is an asian man who look completely different from me (though he got all the talent)

I totally feel the same way and can relate about members I initially didnt pay so much attention to, suddenly snucking up on me 😂. I'm a 2022 ARMY and getting into each of their solo releases made me just love and appreciate every single one of them individually even more. Suga might be my bias but I feel like if they were members of different groups, they'd all be my biases from each of them. They each are all just so damn good and excel in what they do best 😭. BTS truly just a different level and a once in a life time group and I am so glad they get a long well and love each other. 😭💜🥹

Yeah, RM is the member who curses the most... in English hahahah Suga and Hobi also curse a lot in their music but mostly in korean so is not as obvious to us non korean speakers😂 edit: just wanted to share the fun fact that at his solo concert, Agust D/Suga had a whole ass 3 min remix of a curse korean word that now every army knows lmaoo And don't feel bad for not liking some songs, i love love love all the members so much and support them in all their creative decisions but i have to admit that those decisions not always align with my taste hahah😂 but Domodachi is a song that has grown on me, definitely. In many countries: first name = given name of a person last name = family's name. In Korea, family = first. Then, the person's given name. Example: RM's name is 김 넘준 (Kim Namjoon). His friends call him Namjoon because that's the name he was given, while Kim is the name of his family. When he introduces himself, he says, "Hello! I'm Kim Namjoon." He's first telling you who is family is, then who he is. Or, in idol context, he says, "Hi! I'm BTS' RM." He's telling you his team name first, then his given name. Korean society focuses more on being a member of a collective group, than in the West where we focus more on individualism. Neither is right or wrong. Your reaction to Domodachi is understandable don't worry! It's definitely niche and the video is quite disorienting. I feel like you would have liked the song Groin and the video for it better. I wouldn't say it's anything demonic though. Just to provide a little context, the MV's storyline is about a kid who is suddenly thrust into adult life too early, overwhelmed, not knowing who to trust, and escaping it. It's about perseverance and trusting real friends to help you, and keeping that loyalty to your real friends in the end. Domodachi is actually a combination of two Japanese words Domo which means "Thanks" and Tomodachi which translates to "friend"

Can I just say, the idea of ‘ranking’ the members is genuinely anathema to true ARMY. You might like one’s voice the most, or think another is the best looking, or whatever, but no matter biases ARMY love them all equally. Also, it’s important to differentiate between BTS songs performed by a solo member, and the music each individual creates as a solo artist, where the member has complete creative control over the sound, vibe and aesthetic they want to put out.

idk if someone has said this already but "KIM" isn't their first names It's actually their last names. In korea, last names are written before your first name. So with Kim namjoon for example, Kim is his last name and Namjoon is his first name. Same with Kim seokjin and Kim Taehyung. So their first names are Namjoon, Seokjin and Taehyung while they all have the same "Kim" last name.

Loved it! RM's Domodachi is from his latest album RPWP, but it is NOT a K-pop album at all...I would personally categorize it more like alternative. His first album is Indigo but before that it was his mixed tape Mono which is fantastic too. RM is an exceptional artist in his own right. I am RM biased too, can you tell? V is very seductive and jazzy with his voice and the visuals enhance it. Jin's vocals are also out of this world as well. His songs would all be an OST to my life drama...lol! I love them all! They are all sooo unique and talented. Trust me, I found BTS through J-hope and then I was wrecked by JK, then V, then Jin...Jimin always drives me wild. At first I couldn't tell Yoongi and JK apart...lol! I went through Yoongi and RM as my wreckers...but then I went back to J-hope as my #1 bias for a long long time. RM fought his way as my #2 bias...I am double biased with 5 wreckers.

RM has made me cry with the ways in which he views life, which are imbued in his lyrics; Jin has made me cry off the sheer melancholy that his crystalline vocals can achieve; and Tae...whew, the love of my life right there! (SHALAYA GET TO THE BACK OF THE LINE AGAIN!) Tae's made me cry anytime his vocals reach my eardrums. I don't know if it's the richness of his tone or the feelings he can evoke in me or both or more, but any time I've listened to a Tae solo for the first time, I've cried! He's the vocalist my soul's been searching for and I wouldn't change a thing! As for your next video, I would say to watch the guide just to get a bit of a deeper look with their backstories. When I decided to dive head first into the BTS rabbit hole, I plunged myself straight into their variety show, Run BTS (not to be confused with their song by the same name), and their 2020 COVID staycation show, In The Soop, and I knew I loved these guys within a month - actually a week - of knowing them! It's just too easy to love them! I also binged all of the music they had out at the time...they were my escape/distraction for a long time as I was trying to heal from something, but eventually - probably within a year and a half - I began loving them more holistically: rather than an escape, they were people I knew I was grateful for because of their easy relatability, authenticity, and for reconnecting me with my love of art (amongst other things). Sorry, I didn't mean to ramble, I guess I'm just trying to say that everyone's journey into BTS is different and I figure it's best to do what you feel is best to continue to enjoy it while also staying genuine!

Glad to see you again! Ooh, good choices for songs. You got the interpretation for persona spot on. The album is inspired by Carl Jung, who says the persona is the mask we show the world, so RM was questioning what kind of image/impact he has on the world, what’s his “real self”, is he even good enough to be in his position of fame, and in the end reached his conclusion. Wild flower is gorgeous (I love the way he called back to Persona with “Where’s your soul? Where’s your dream?”). Please watch the music video at some point, it’s so beautiful! Domodachi is my least fav on the new album sound wise 🙈 and it’s also still hard for me to understand. So I get you, thanks for your honesty! It means “thank you friend” in Japanese. I think the chaos in the sound is on purpose, especially in combo with the mv I think it’s a kid getting lost in the adult world (= music industry??) and trying to escape, but once he’s out realising he misses his friend who he left in there and diving back in again? And the lyrics talk about friendship too. Idk though. Little Simz is great btw, you should check out her music too! She’s a British rapper. You probably heard, but Jin’s coming out with an album next week, so exciting!

Run BTS, the one you're singing during Persona, is part of Proof album, it's their anthology album released in 2022, before they went on break Map of the Soul: Persona was released in 2019 and Map Of The Soul 7 was released in 2020.. they went BIG in that one cause they planned to have a massive world tour and go on break to do their military service, in 2020.... but covid happened, world tour got canceled and they stayed back until 2022... supposedly, they're now back together and touring 😢

imo Domodachi is very deep to understand it seems to touch on fake friends but also those in power wanting control cause him and his friends to cry. so i think its very cryptic on purpose and possibly only artists that size understand what he means. because artists globally are fighting to be independent and even if they are like bts are since the label doesnt restrict them they still get censored and restrictions outside of their label like tv, interviews, music shows, award shows, radio etc not due to their label at all but due to not paying for the exposure and racism in western/english speaking majority countries music markets rejecting non English music. bts barely get radio play. their interviews are full of dumb questions because those interviewers and their higher ups dont take bts seriously and in korea its classism as bts and their label were poor and its said you cant climb up high from the bottom unless youre with major labels. even when bts are the biggest group and bighit is big due to bts and hybe was created in 2021 due to bts theyre all looked down on seen as cheaters lied about smeared in news because the big labels must stay on top the big labels control the media and tv networks so of course theyre gonna pay for bts and anyone in relation to be spoken bad about. "mf wanna take control" "all my friends crying in a row" "step in the place they yell go figure" "greet them with respect when you see them" etc its more expressed in groin as well because bts get it at all levels from media tv and corporations to fandoms amd general public to the government trying to use them etc since you mentioned being Christian figured this bit would be important to mention bts and korea in general isnt religion forward most arent religious or beliefs in ancestors higher powers but not aligned to specific religions but there are catholic, Christian, Muslim & Buddhist koreans some idols follow these some dont some tap into all some have family who are but dont personally practice etc rm specifically has said hes atheist however over the years hes been seen to study and learn about many religions which is why you should react to on music video by bts not the kinetic one but the regular music video, but my point is hes open minded and has seemingly tried different religions to see if he fits any most recently being Buddhism and the monk similar to a priest has a confession like conversation and is not supposed to tell anyone about it and the monk spoke to the media about everything rm said. which breaks my heart im personally not religions but i grew up catholic and it was things like that that push people away. instead of guiding by example those around you or the person who youre supposed to speak and confide in breaks your trust ruins the relationship with any higher powers. so id avoid God Rap by rm this is before the public betrayal however it is a song many religious armys find slightly offensive depending on how religious you are and its not like he targets anyone or any religion he very clearly respects religious people but in that song he was expressing himself possibly through anger and wanting something to believe in but being late down in other areas etc so the wording may upet you down the road and they do use God in a expression way in multiple songs so just want you to be aware of that so its not as shocking when it happens. also other things theyve said and done in the past which they apologized for and grew and matured whether it be religious, culturally, racially, sexist etc they have grown into better men so when/if you come across things that make you uncomfortable make sure to put into perspective of the year it was released or said and the overall internet at the time. korea as a whole has a long way to go in so many areas but kpop wants to be global so they have to learn the hard way when things they do or say arent appropriate. but in bts case their fandom is so big due to their real growth in all areas as much as anti fans want to claim otherwise there has been real growth. but yeah Domodachi feels very cryptic but direct at the same time and feels different from their other hater songs feels very much attacking a bigger fish. youd have to know all bts history to really pick up on it and even then you feel like youre reaching. but bts have done this before and fan theories were right so it is possible with the context of their lyrics previously what theyvs said to us directly on live streams and in conerts and things we know about the industry and how it treated them the last 10 years. sorry for writing so much. please react to on music video and bts hardships 2021 by xceleste

1:18 I might heard it wrong since I'm not a native English speaker, but you said "all of their first names are Kim". In Korea (as well as China or Japan, for example), the surname comes first. So, they share the same last name which is Kim, and their first names are Namjoon, Seokjin and Taehyung. Due to historical reasons, the surname Kim is the most common. Other idols who have Kim as their surname are Hongjoong (Ateez), Seungmin (Stray Kids), Jennie (BlackPink), Mingyu (Seventeen) etc. Fun fact: In TXT, four members share the surname Choi (pronounced as Chwe) - Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu andTaehyun. It hurts that he felt this way. Dang it. This brings me back to what he said at Festa Dinner 2022. Youjeen was perfect. Don't know her but she sounded great. I look forward to learning more about her. She is a 46 yo rock singer. She is part of a band. They are legends in Korea. RM is a fan of theirs. By the way he did a live on Weverse too. It makes even more sense when you realize that in Korean the word for firework is bool kkot (불꽃). She's was the front woman for the South korean Rock Band 'Cherry Filter'. Oh and RM produced the whole album Indigo which this song a track from each one is very different. He says it's a walk through his 20's. The also got Anderson Paak to agree to on one track and also invited Erykah Badu to be on another of the songs on his album and she agreed.

They are all too talented. 😊 V is my bias for slow, moody songs, along with Jin--- which are very much my primary vibe. Jimin is my run BTS variety show, dance, and performance bias. JK is my live stream bias. Jin is my ballad bias. Suga is my solo concert bias and emotional rap bias. J-hope is is tied with jimin for performance bias. RM is my lyric bias and rap flow. I would love to sit down and discuss anything with him. Also, thanks for being a great example. I am also Christian and don't cuss or listen to music with swearing however I have to be honest, since I got into BTS two years ago, I have been listening to all their stuff even if they cuss which I have never done before. Not sure why I am giving them a free pass when I never have before with anyone else. I also try to avoid the songs where the swearing is excessive (pretty much just a few of RM's songs). That said, I really like domodachi and almost all of RM's latest album even though the swearing is far above my normal comfort level. I think it is a masterpiece. But you holding the line is very inspirational to me and is a good reminder to me to be more vigilant.
