It is switching from MINOR KEY to MAJOR KEY and that itself is a 'lie'. It's text painting. Major keys metaphorically represents happiness or something positive but in this song it shouldn't.

official MV's are always on the Hybe channel.. but not all of their songs have MV's, like this one.. I recommend to watch either a live performance or a stage mix for the song without a MV..

This album (Wings) has some definite ear candy, and “Lie” is but one example of this. “First Love,” Suga’s solo, comes to mind. And RM’s “Reflection.” And-well, you get the picture. Ooh, “Boy Meets Evil” is also from that album. The MV for that (labeled a “trailer”) has some mesmerizing dancing from J-Hope. Instead of MVs, the solos in this album got short films that showcased the songs-or at least, that’s what I remember.

From my reply somewhere here: It's about Jimin being too hard on himself and making himself out to be responsible for any mistake, or disappointment, or failure they experienced. Lying to himself that he doesn't deserve anything he's got and that he's not good enough in order to push that perfectionist ideal he had envisioned of himself (and he's known to be an extreme perfectionist). Lying to himself that such perfection is even possible to achieve to begin with. Pretending to be the person he isn't to "keep it all together", and lying that he's "just fine" or that it all will be fine. This kinda also relates to what Jimin said once in the interview, that he pretends to be strong for everyone and that he never needs any help, doesn't need to vent or cry. But that was just a lie to himself and a mask he put on so he won't break under pressure and would be able to shoulder ALL of their pains on his own. TL;DR: kind of about impostor syndrome Jimin may or may not have experienced, along with the intense idol persona he had to put on to persevere.

BTS is full of surprises - you'll see the deeper you go. Love this song. You should watch a performance video of it, only bits of the performance were in this fan-made video.

I believe the lie is from his inner voice. The lie is that no matter how hard he worked he didn't feel good enough.

There's no real answer but my guess is the lie is his idol persona i guess. He's different in real life when he's not on stage. Like a total different person, he doubts himself , he breaks down, he's beats himself for messing up, he's so hard on himself, i also think he wants us to love him but at the same time he's scared of that love, because he has never been himself or had never shown us his vulnerabile self. So he doubts that love but he's also scared of losing that love. He's a people pleaser and an empath, always healing other people but is actually carrying a lot but has no one to share it with. His real self sometimes shows in his music. We always wonder who's the other person but we think it's himself. Just like his song PROMISE.

there is no "this sounds different for a bts song" youve barely reacted to many bts songs to know if this is a different sound and ALL of bts songs are different. if you stop sticking with music video songs youll see bts have much to offer. (but you are right there is no song like lie but that same phrase can be said about every single bts song)
