There was such a funny incident that the producer for Dionysus told him to just scream into the mic for the high note. Jin probably has the perfect voice for all genres. Given the fact that he started singing at 20 his voice is impressive. I love his voice. 💜😭

Wine in dionysus is a metaphor for Art. What RM says explains this a bit. "Art is alcohol, if you drink it you get drunk fool" he is saying that they are drunk in their art. it's not exactly about the creation of art being easier when you are intoxicated but rather saying that for him/bts art is their alcohol and they get drunk on it. It again works super well with dionysus because he's the god of wine AND art.

Hobi wrote Jamais Vu, that's why you have this wild Key Change, he is known to do it in his Solo stuff. Hobi is also the main songwriter of Dionysus, he wrote everything besides RM and Sugas lines, and Suga said Hobi changed the Melody like 13 times.

- You actually have the classic reaction to Jin. He's usually not the one people notice at first but he grows on you. But tbh they'll all come for you in turn. 😅 (Jin was my immediate boo though. 🤭) -"Die-on-eye-sos" is generally accepted for Dionysus so you're spot on. 👍 - The MOTS albums centre around Jung's personality model which includes Persona, Shadow and Ego. - I'm glad you said you'll listen to the Spotify versions as well because for example in Boy With Love Halsey has her own verse in the studio version but not in the mv. - After this album would be the perfect time to watch their MMA 2019 award show performance since it's built on this exact concept. It's even called MOTS: The Show. It's an EPIC 40 minute performance that includes Persona, Boy IN Love, Boy WITH Love, Mikrokosmos and Dionysus (plus reworked bits of multiple other songs) and a ton of symbolism if you know your greek mythology. IT IS AMAZING!! - MOTS: 7 is an absolute masterpiece BUT unfortunately it also contains the song generally thought of as the "Voldemort" of their collaborations: ON feat. SIA (I do like her but this one is just wrong). Just saying you'd better be prepaired for the comments. 😆 - Loved you as always and frustrated editor Lis is a hoot. 💜😂💜

Hi Lis, thank you for another great, thoughtful, and sincere reaction! I love your videos. 💜 I just wanted to let you know a bit more context for Dionysus that might add to your enjoyment/understanding of the song. In Korean, 예술 (yaesool) means "art" and 술 (sool) means "alcohol" (although the feel of the word is closer to "wine"). When RM raps "예술도 술이지 뭐 마시면 취해" which means "Art is also wine after all, when you drink it in you become drunk", he is using wordplay to call art a kind of wine that intoxicates people. If you're Korean, this was sooooo coooool because suddenly we could hear the word yaesool having a new meaning of yae-wine (wine that is made of art). From there on, whenever they talk about alcohol/wine, they're really talking about art (which for them is their music). Anyway, I hope that helps? Can't wait for Part 2! 💜

If you are aware of the current developments, Jin will be enlisted to the Military for about 18mnths~ (or more) soon. So that song is a goodbye (for now) for ARMY. Also, i hope you can watch (or react!! Hehe) to BTS’s latest RUN BTS episode where they do flying yoga. There’s 2 parts to this (2 episodes) and it is hillarious!

Lis, I hope you're doing well! Thank you for taking the time to analyse this album, record and edit! I know you must have put a lot of work into this. Also, I'm aware of how overwhelming it can get when you start to delve into BTS discography and content. I think all of the armies that got into the fandom later on in their career can relate to your experience (and mine). Their discography is huge and so is the magnitude of their content. I've been a fan for almost 3 years now and there are still new interviews, Run BTS episodes, obscure covers and collaborations that I'm hearing of for the first time nowadays. And once you understand the depth they go with their lyrics, visuals and the connections with literature, philosophy, the hidden messages that are told through wordplay (in Korean, English or both at the same time), the production and composition of their songs, their story as a band, as individuals and as South Koreans, it feels like everything you've known about them so far is just the tip of an iceberg. They and their team work so hard that you want to give everything proper justice and go as deep as possible with the analysis. It is very true that "the more you know about something or someone, the more you understand how much you ignore about it or them". The satisfaction you'll gain from learning more about them and their music, constantly getting surprised about something they've done that you'd have never expected, and their growth, all of it is so worth it, I promise! Plus, as you said ARMY is such a vast fandom that it makes it exponentially easier for it to have many gifted, brilliant and generous minds, ready to share their knowledge to enrich our experience. Literature, philosophy, law, politics, media, music theory and business graduates, polyglots, editors, wise elderlies, therapists, doctors, musicians. So many people contribute to the expansion of this fandom by sharing info and different perspectives. I swear you'll love it all! I grew so much in these past few years as a young adult, and being in this fandom and following these 7 guys really do take a big chunk of merits for my development into the person I am today.

Great reaction, as always! I love album break downs and BTS often say that's how they want you to experience their music for the first time. Going through the album, top to bottom, track by track in the order. They really are album artists, the flow of their albums just make sense musically and thematically. I've seen someone already mentioned it and I second that: if you decide to use lyric videos from Lemoring and Jaeguchi just keep in mind they usually have the most views only because they release the whole album lyric translations within minutes from album release to get as many views as possible (often times more views than official audio tracks). So you can imagine the quality of their translations is not too great (sometimes the meaning is completely opposite to the original lyrics). Just letting you know so you can take their translations with a grain of salt or avoid them if possible. Again, it has been a pleasure to watch your reaction and looking forward to more.!

"the wings of Icarus that you gave me" is a reference to what they said before during Wings era.. They said that ARMY gave them wings and made them fly... BWL is a cute love letter from BTS to ARMY, in Korean the title is "A Poem For Small Things" cause it's like these small simple things between BTS and ARMY that makes this relationship special, like asking them if have they eaten, or they should sleep cause they have this habit of sleeping at 4AM especially Jimin, and then them reminding us of the weather and to dress warmly, them updating us that they have eaten 3 meals that day and that we should eat too.. Then just these light and heavy conversations whenever they were active on Weverse, them giving us advice and comforting us, joking with us and such..

Hi Liz! You’re just like me, we live music through the lyrics and story behind it. I could say, BTS is similar to Taylor in a sense where they both write their lyrics where it relates to us. I love BTS and Taylor! So happy you’re going through BTS as well ❤️💜

YES!!! EXACTLY, YESSSS!!! I've always been a rock and alternative girl, so my irl people were really surprised when I started listening to Taylor and became such a big fan of hers, no matter how often I explained the genius in her lyricism. And when I started getting into BTS, forget it. They weren't just surprised, they straight up don't get it. Lol I understand that not everyone cares about lyrics and stories, but I don't get how they don't understand our perspective when we get into artists they think are "overhyped" and we explain that the hype is deserved and that the lyrics are amazing. I've argued about this with so many people I've lost count.

@@lisontherecord Exactly! I can tell you this now, not many would understand why or who we listen to. Only we know ourselves why and how we connect to these artists songs in a deeper level. I grew up as a swiftie cause I connected to her songs and lyrics as it relates to me alot. You name it, the process and feelings of growing up, tring to find self-confidence, having troubles and wanting to power through and be courageous, etc! I only got to know BTS for a year+ and I wished I discovered them sooner cause their lyricism is totally relateable too. Finding self-love, fighting against all odds, teaching how to rise after falling, etc. I love alot of artists and songs from different genres. But honestly, deep down, Taylor and BTS are the only two artists that I really really appreciate and understand. I just really find comfort in them. So excited for you!

Okay this is my third comment, I'm sorry not sorry So basically MOTS7 is an album that "looks back" to their previous works.. "Intro: Persona" alone is a sample of an intro of their third album, "Boy With Luv" is a call back from their 2014 song "Boy In Luv", A LOT of the lyrics from different songs in this album are references from their older songs, "ON" will be the callback from their earlier song "N.O" and etc. It's also kind of a looking back like questioning and/or reminding themselves of why they were doing this, because it's inspired by the Carl Jung's theory, so they're like looking deeper into themselves, their Persona, Shadow and Ego.

aaahhh im so happy you're reacting to mots: 7 !! i hope you're doing well outside of youtube and thank you for this :') also, if i may share one (of so, so many) of my fav parts in intro: persona. the whole verse before the last chorus hits is very very interesting, writing wise. The ‘me’ who I want to be The ‘me’ who people want The ‘me’ who you love And the ‘me’ who I craft The ‘me’ who’s smiling The ‘me’ who’s crying sometimes Living and breathing every second, every moment, even now, Persona the korean word for "me" is 나 which is pronounced "na". due to korean grammar, all the lines in the verse above ends with the word 나, since he's talking about all these different aspects of his self. so joon ends that verse with saying "persoNA" to not just rhyme but also complete the previous line and sort of like combine the meaning of "persona" in english and "me" in korean. isn't that just so witty ????? im a bilingual too and an aspiring writer and i want to emulate that kind of playfulness with BOTH my languages too 😫😫 sorry, i just really adore joon's writing style 😫😫 and i can't wait for you to be acquainted with the rest of the members' writing styles too !! the more you read their lyrics, the more it becomes apparent who wrote who (the most distinguishable for me are joon's, yoongi's, and taehyung's). but anyways !! i can't wait for part 2 !!! and expect probably even longer comments from people regarding each song 😭😭 EDIT: i missed you saying you read the lyrics on doolset omg so you probably already know about 나 😅 but i will still share nonetheless hhdhdh

One piece of advice....when reacting to lyric videos, I recommend you avoid channels like "Jaeguchi" and "Lemoring" as their lyric translations are often wrong/incorrect. I only recommend the channels "af taehyung" and "DIAL 6137" for better lyric videos. Also I recommend the explanation videos "BTS - Persona MV Explained By A Korean" and "BTS - Boy With Love MV Explained By A Korean", both by "DKDKTV".

Recycling what I said in another comment cause I'm tired lol: "The "Map of the Soul: 7" album is the second and last of the two-albums-series that is deeply inspired by the book "Jung's Map of the Soul: An Introduction" by Murray Stein. This album is a lengthy piece that includes three psychoanalytical concepts of Carl Jung's work: Persona, Shadow and Ego, with references to the inner child, anima/animus and other topics from Jungian psychoanalysis." This part of the album you've reacted to so far comes from their previous album "Map of the Soul: Persona" which also contains 2 more songs, Microkosmos and Home. Given the title of the album, the concept for it is quite self-explanatory: the Persona. Our masks, personalities, crafted by our minds to show ourselves to the world and prepare us for the judgment of others, under the scrutinising gaze of society. Luigi Pirandello, an Italian literate, describes us as actors, life as a stage and our way of interacting with the world as the action of putting on different masks. However, "everyone wears their mask according to their necessity - the outer mask. Because inside then there is the other one, which often does not agree with the outer one". This means that there's truly not a singular part of our identity that can represent us as a whole, ignoring the others. Being uber popular artists, a part of BTS' identity that developed immensely is their Persona. The part that allowed them to interact with us and build this parasocial relationship. The part of them that builds the path they need to follow to not make mistakes in their career, because the mistakes they make will go under a magnifying lens and be criticized by many, blown up for everyone to judge. The part of them that understands the labels they are forced to wear and they actively make themselves wear. So these are mainly the topics that are discussed in this part of the album: their relationship with their Persona, and how hard it is for them to get out of their staged personas and uncover other parts of their identities. You mentioned how RM's song and Jamais Vous gave you this feeling of anxiety and imposter syndrome, well those are certainly consequences of their Personas becoming so solidified that it's hard for them to understand who they really are outside of what they want to show us and being scared of doing so because of the judgement of people. Also, being recognised as role models and leaders and protectors of the younger generations, they impose so much pressure on themselves to be not only good human beings, but heroes, that saved many lives and want to do more, be more for their fans, their loved ones and themselves. Not to mention the fact that since the beginning of their career, they have been pushed into so many different labelled boxes, for the genres they explore, their styles, their dancing singing and rapping abilities, their concepts and influence, that it's easy for them to fall into a sudden existential crisis, questioning their own sincerity, skills and passion. However, they also accept the fact that they had to build these interfaces and personalities and sometimes even be a bit hypocritical or get out of their comfort zones to allow themselves to grow as artists, to protect themselves from the trap that is stardom and fame, to respond to all the difficulties they had to face along the path that led them to where they are right now. In Dionysus, they thank themselves for being so multi-layered in their musical and lyrical expression (and I think metaphorically also in their lives), because not sticking to any label they've ever encountered during their journey, they've allowed themselves to be consumed and intoxicated by art itself, and, therefore, being reborn as artists. Right, I'm done talking out of my ass! Can't wait for when you'll get into the rest of the album!

Lis, I missed your BTS reactions so much. I was so excited to see this video on my feed! And an album reaction! I love them. Your reaction to their voices throughout this video... same, girl, same. I'm so in love with their voices. Each time one of them sings, I'm just like, his voice is so good. Until the next member comes in. Especially in a good live performance. They usually sound better live. Jimin - I love Jimin's voice too. He's naturally high-pitched so he can sing high notes with power. J-hope - his lyrics are also introspective. You need to do an album reaction to his "Jack in the Box". It's amazing. The music, the lyrics, the message, the concept, the fact that it tells a story from beginning to end. V - I love his head voice/falsetto. He puts it in good use in his solo songs, like "Winter Bear", "Christmas Tree", "Scenery". Suga - yes, he's very cute. But have you seen his recent pictures on his Instagram (agustd)? RM - he's a master lyricist. I can't wait for his album, hopefully released this month. Jin - to promote his single "The Astronaut", he's released a lot of content these last couple of weeks and he's just adorable, charming people left and right with his easy-going and humorous nature. I love seeing it. JK - his voice is just gold. For songs without MVs, other than lyrics videos, there are live performances that have subtitles. A good source for this is "Enjoy BTS More", which specializes in adding good English subtitles to BTS live performances.

So glad you’re doing a full album reaction! I love how much you appreciate lyrics and themes, you’re absolutely right - the way the constantly reference their other songs is so interesting. You mentioned it a bit, but in Jamais Vu, J-Hope says “your remedy is my remedy”, just like in Boy with Luv, “your scar is my scar”. The surprising melody is actually part of the message! “Jamais Vu” is something that should be familiar but is new/strange to you, so you expect the melody to go one way (familiar) and are surprised when it goes in a completely different direction (strange). The whole “Persona” section of the album (from Intro: Persona to Dionysus) is BTS singing about their public image. This is the face they want to show to the fans and the public, very bright, happy, supportive, thankful. The “shadow” section (from Interlude: Shadow to Louder than Bombs) will explore their darker sides, things they’re afraid of and want to keep hidden, and then the “Ego” songs at the end (from ON to Outro: Ego) represent their true selves, the side they accept as their identity. Persona, Shadow and Ego were all defined by Carl Jung, a psychoanalyst. In general MOTS:7 is one of the most cohesive albums I’ve ever heard, concept-wise. There is *so much* I can say about this album. Looking forward to the other parts:)

Jamais vu was actually written by jhope. So was dionysus. Jhope may not be existential but he has lyrics that present anxiety and nostalgia in a lot of his solo works. Blue side extended version is one of my favorites.... Dionysus is clearly jhopes work too if you look at the lyrics because he often does research on key words before writing songs. So you will find some really interesting references in them. Like the thyrsus, born twice, Jhope loves referring to Greek myths.

im so happy to see you back to reacting to bts music i get that theres so much tbh my favorite part is seeing you react to the lyrics in real time maybe instead of reading it before you can just cut while you read it then come back with your thoughts if you cant read it all on camera? especially for songs like louder than bombs and we are bulletproof the eternal you reading them first kinda removes the emotion/surprise of the lyrical content as you hear the song idk if that makes sense but maybe you can reverse the order like listen first read after? if not its fine ill still be watching your reactions either way.

With Intro:Persona Namjoon has always struggled with his identity wherever he is a rapper, an idol, an Artist, an Actor, a Composer, a Lyricist or a Son & what label he gives himself which may give you the Imposter Syndrome vibe. I got a little frustrated with him in the Pharrell Williams Rolling Stone Interview as Joon asked Pharrell what label he chooses for himself and I thought to myself why do you need just one you are all these things which makes you Amazing & Unique compared to everybody else out there, Why can’t you be all including when the time comes a Father as well as a recording Artist

Actually the best way to interpret this album is using carl jung. The albums title as you may already know comes from the book by Murray stein 'Jung's map of the soul'. Murray stein did a series of podcasts about the album actually after it came out, interpreting it. And he explains the jungian concepts of persona, shadow and ego, bts adapted to the album really well. It makes the album more profound. This is the best selling bts album for a reason. When it came out armys were sharing Jungian models of the psyche all over twitter. Carl jung, I'm pretty sure was trending and a lot of jungians and psychologists joined the fandom. Its very clever how bts used these concepts to explore the troubles they faced in their career. RM talks about his different masks in persona. And he thinks Kim namjoon is unseen and clumsy and nobody wants to see him, and he thinks rm is superior and more better as a persona. And so sometime the RM persona tries to take over him. That's why namjoon visits museums and rides bicycles in nature, its to preserve his Kim namjoon side. Same concept In boy with luv, except its about btss collective persona which they created for army and so btss persona is army. You will see this repeating in Interlude shadow by suga about Suga's shadow and black swan which is about btss collective shadow. Then in outro ego which is about jhopes ego and ON which Is about bts collectively conquering their shadow and making it part of the ego.

While j-hope is mainly a rapper, he also had another role as a sub-vocalist, and also a dance leader, our Hobi is a triple kill 😊 RM and SUGA also sing here and there but not as much as jhope Jungkook is also a sub-rapper, he raps mostly in their early songs.. He's called the "Golden Maknae" (youngest) cause he's also part of the dance line, and j-hope is called the "Golden Hyung" (older brother)

If you are interested I recommend I HIGHLY recommend watching and/or reacting to (I would love to see your reaction but it is okay if you don’t) dkdktv explanation video for most of these songs. Dkdktv are Koreans that explain Korean references, history, and wordplay. Also for this album they also explain the Carl young theory (which inspired them)…. However just remember you can have your own thoughts, interpretations, and theories. Most ARMY just like watching them to understand the Korean stuff, plus it is fun to learn how others interpret stuff…

Didn't you just start doing reactions to BTS in the last few weeks? Why are you doing a reaction to BTS's album Map of the Soul 7 which was released with the music video ON Kinetic Manifesto Film Come Prima on the 21st of February 2020. Why not react to their next album simply titled BE: wish was release sometime in 2021. Or their ANTHOLOGY album titled PROOF which is a three-disc physical album with over 50 songs. Or the release before proof which was the BUTTER and Permission To Dance single album. What about some of their single releases in the last few months including their collaboration with Snoop Dogg. Did you react to J hope's solo album Jack-In-The-Box featuring his two single releases MORE and ARSON. What about the solo work that Jungkook recently did. What about Jīn's new solo song and his live performance with Coldplay who wrote the song the Astronaut with him. Play perform the song in Argentina at a Coldplay concert the last live performance he will do until 2025 when he and the rest of BTS are discharged from the South Korean military. Also didn't see any reactions to their two special two-part episodes of their variety show RUN BTS released in the last couple of months. What about jenny's interview where he explained the meaning of his solo song the astronaut

I'm confused on why she can't react to the album she chose. Are any of the other albums, songs, or content going away? she just got into them and judging by her love for lyrics, the concept of this album probably intrigued her. There are so few reactors who actually take the time to do album listenings so im so confused by your hostility

I'm open to suggestions when they come from a place of enthusiasm to share the joy, but ultimately I'll react to whatever interests me the most at any given time. Your hostility makes it clear you either haven't watched my previous BTS reactions (such as Black Swan MV), or you have but don't really get why I do these videos. I'll make it easy for you: they are for MY enjoyment. Therefore I will watch in whatever random order it most pleases me. I also think it's ridiculous to try to impose rules and a strict order in which someone is supposed to consume art lol

Ok, but WTF was the point of your comment here? Were you trying to show off how many different BTS albums and performances you could name in one post or are you just trying to patronize and make Lis feel bad in some way? Either way, stfu and come back when you have something that makes sense to say.
