- VERY well caught with the microphones! Almost noone notices the direction they're pointed at. - After the explosion the haters are actually falling from the sky (their high horse/piedestal?) while burning in the background. - Mic Drop is kind of considered the fifth Cypher. It's their last general diss song which is why they say that it's the last farewell because they were just over and done with the haters at this point. - You should definitely check out the rap line's Cyphers 1-4 because they. were. breathing. fire., the word play is on a whole other level and when in order they tell a story of how their attitudes changed along the way. They're pure *chef's kiss* - They do have a really good relationship with their company. They even go for a drink or cook with their boss Bang PD sometimes and when Big Hit bought Ithaca (now Hybe) last year he made sure that they were given stocks in the corporation but kept them "safe" under Big Hit's label. (Btw, Jin would've been so proud of you for that joke. 😂)

but... the floating mics are NOT all pointed towards BTS though, they are just kinda floating around 🤔 the basic setup is clearly one mimicking a press-conference, with the table, the individual mics and the cameras pointed at them. the rest of the details are all for juicy symbolism of course :)

This is the first song/video I ever heard by BTS, just by accident stumbling around on KZbin, and I was instantly HOOKED. It's what started my rabbit hole journey a few years ago. Because who else was doing this in music? Amazing beats, lyrics, & choreo simultaneously??? I didn't even LIKE hip-hop (or rap) back then, and I don't understand Korean, but BTS introduced me to a whole new world. FWIW, you glossed over 'foot, foot, watch it; mouth, mouth, watch it lyrics (perhaps because it needed no explanation) but I take it to be a warning similar to the English expression 'to put your foot in your mouth' - IOW, "don't say something you'll regret later, haters"! LOL

Bts' diss tracks are on another level. Though they aren't really directed at someone it sends a message to all their antis. And like Suga also said that they don't write the lyrics about anyone in particular but if someone takes offence then it's their problem. You should check out ddaeng and ugh and even the cyphers. Also the hair pics inclusion were a last minute decision. The one with the Harry Potter cake is from my 24th birthday. A friend at the time bought me that cake because what I'm most known for amongst friends (especially back then) is for being a huge potterhead. I grew up with the books and films. bts have a song thats called silver spoon, an absolute intellectual bop ratatouille is peasants food its origin comes from farmers its not an expensive fancy meal (someones gotta rewatch the movie lololol), saying that someone is a tastless ratatouille...i would interpret it as youre the bare minimum that everyone can have and even fuck that up. also i second the person who recommended the fanmade docu series rise of bangtan it covers bts history so nicely as well as covers some things about kpop industry that pepole wont know. nice reaction as usual! this song has 3 version, the first one is more in korean so some of the lyrics are different, then this and then one with a desiiner feature :D they really milked this banger, as they should. all mvs also have making of on yt btw

these were the lyrics for the remix, i recommend looking at lyrics for the original version too, some lines are different and there is more korean, there is also a version with desiigner where suga and j-hope sing some of rm's lines

I think you DO need to read the explanations when they are extrapolating on Korean culture/sayings/phenomena and the possible different translation. sometimes some GREAT lines (like the grape one) are translated much simpler just for the sake of being understood by English speakers so it would be sad for you to miss the chefs-kiss lyricism because of that. because, after all, it's still a TRANSLATION and discarding that info you are kind of saying that you don't care what they actually said 😅 basically, you can just skim the text to see if it's about meaning or about translation/Korean things and skip if it's just about the song interpretation. you can do whatever you want of course but I think it would be totally reasonable to do it like that since you want to do your own interpretation but at the same time ignoring the double translations or references can lead you down a totally wrong path 🤗
