fun but sad fact: although the lyrics of this song seem like they're about heartbreak with a significant other (gf/bf) they're actually about the members. the rapline wrote this song back when bts were thinking of disbanding in 2018. 2016-2018 were especially hard years for them despite having troubles since day one. so yeah, these lyrics talk about how there's no such thing as a good "goodbye" and about how crushed their heart feels after this person left and the lyrics are really so intense so when you think about how this was actually about the members when they were legitimately considering breaking up as a band... it just really makes you sad. the whole title in itself has double meaning because they mean tear as in to cry and tear as in to rip something apart. lyrics like "you used to be my dear", "we're going to the same place but this place becomes our last. we talked about forever but we destroy eachother mercilessly", "thought we dreamed the same dream but that dream became, for the first time, just a dream", "just burn my heart so that no lingering feelings will be left", "this is the real you, this is the real me", "the moment those words left your lips, when our vision became irregular", "i wish i hadn't cried, i wish it hadn't torn me" and "forever, forever, stop saying that" really get to me. they really REALLY love eachother so fucking much bro, they break my heart sometimes🥺.

@@cindylepo6784 honestly. even though i always knew the song was really sad, i would still always jam to it but once i found out the real meaning i haven't been able to hear it the same. the intensity of the lyrics and then the anger and sadness in their voices when they perform it live really hits you different. the way they describe that pain makes me feel like i've never even felt real pain before. it's so hearbreaking but so beautiful. proud of our boys for getting through it like they always do tho💜.

I think the song is still meant to come off as being for a broken love, especially bc of the message throughout the Tear album, but to the members it’s abt the time when they were questioning disbanding. Since yoongi made it first, he was probably thinking abt that when writing the chorus and his part, Jhope and namjoon however were probably thinking abt the concept it was meant to come off as

I tried guessing who was going to get which outfit when Dior released their sketch and all I can remember is I got J-Hope right. Yes! Our boys were stylin' in Dior and they all looked extremely good in them ..They (BTS) are all amazing performers and stunning in their own individual ways but Hobi our extra Sunshine ,"live" got that smidge of extra X factor, just saying.😁 Honestly, RM's voice, dimples, artistry, leadership is top notch. Jin as much as he gives out hearts and flying kisses manages to steal more with his looks, vocals, attitude and manners. Suga our Tiger disguised as Lil' meow meow, may want to reincarnate as a stone but his passion, artistry, strength of character, being relatable in so many ways is truly admirable. Jimin might as well be the heart of the group but also elegantly stunning in looks and need I mention his dance and voice? 👍 V and his vocal range ( deep, soulful to high notes) is a performer that can change your emotions with a look...from protective to intrigued to...(take your pick). And then, there's JK, our dear Kookie, who we watched grow up B4 our eyes, doesn't know Auto tune, just gets your heart with his vocals, a look , thru his other hobbies ( Tae Kwon Do, boxing, wrestling, archery, bowling, drawing, video editing etc., Etc.) and just being himself with his hyungs/brothers. Worth LY your in Sept. of 2019 and I already knew going in ( after much deliberations) which songs I’d record and which ones I’d put my phone down for! Suga said he wrote the song when the band was thinking about disbanding, so I guess it's about how it made him feel like something he didn't even knew he feared hurt so bad to even imagine and his reaction was "ok, that shit hurts, but go on, just leave, don't act like it can go well and shit when you know it hurts tho" like we know at the beginning he didn't want to be an idol in a kpop group but he trusted them and got attached and of course started enjoying it too and now he loves being a part of this but he mentions a lot in his music how he's scared of making the wrong choices and having regrets and often thinks about what would have happened if he made different choices so I guess putting all his trust and hope into the group, which was probs difficult for him, just to hear them consider disbanding must have been scary and painful and they probably had fights over it and realized how they really felt about this and who they were and maybe at the moment they hated things about each other before realizing that they cared to much to let it change things..
