Dope has great hidden meanings the line where Jimin says "I worked all night, every day, while you were playing at the club", this referring to how much BTS had to work and strain to get where they are. Ending the chorus, RM's rap mentions the "Sampo", "Ohpo" and "Yookpo" generations. In Korean, "sam", "oh" and "yook" are the numbers three, five and six. By this, RM refers to a popular expression that mentions what people must give up in the face of financial difficulties and social problems. The "sampo generation" are those who gave up having romantic relationships, marriage and children; the younger generation "ohpo" is unable to achieve the above three, in addition to not finding a suitable job or owning their own homes. I've said this many times and I'll forever say it. DOPE is one of the CLEANEST, SMOOTHEST, ENERGY-FILLED, mv from BTS I've EVER WATCHED in my 5 years of Army life! This song actually has a deep meaning. In this song, RM refers to the “Sampo”, “Ohpo”, and the “Yookpo” generations. In Hangul/Korean, “Sam”, “oh”, and “yook” are basically the numbers 3, 5 and 6 respectively. Now he is actually referring to an expression that references what the people have to give when they face financial and economics difficulties, and many other problems. Those in the 3rd or the “sampo generation” gave up on romantic relationships, having children, etc. whereas the 5th generation or the “ohpo” generation isn’t able to achieve the above mentioned along with not being able to find employment or even own their own homes. I think you guys are spending way too much time together. Ron is breaking out with the random dance moves more and more it seems 🤣. DOPE has a very deep socio-political class unfairness reference and can be seen as a diss directed towards the media and boomers. RM and Suga’s btb verses in the middle of the song encompasses this. This song brings up that the playing field and economy is unfair for younger generation and how boomers were the ones that screwed up the economy for younger generations, but that grown-ups and media blame the younger generation for being lazy and lacking willpower and writes them off. But BTS is saying they don’t agree with the media and older generation and BTS is telling the youth not to listen to what the media tells them. BTS is telling the youth that they believe in the value of who they are and who they want to become and their efforts are worth something. BTS’ perceived cockiness of being “dope” is actually one of solidarity with the youth.

She explains the extensive wordplay and also the "Giving Up" generations that RM is rapping about - Korean names for Gen Y, Millennials, Z. They had to give up on their dreams because of low wages, debt, etc.
