Great performance! I really like this concerto and have been considering learning the first movement but so far I’ve only learned fantaisie impromptu and I’m halfway through the revolutionary etude, is the jump in difficulty too large?
@CharlieAlbrightPianistАй бұрын
Thanks so much! This is definitely way harder than the Fantaisie Impromptu, but the Revolutionary Etude is pretty hard too. (By the way, those were your first two pieces you learned?!? If so, those are pretty advanced pieces to start out with!). You can take a look at the Rach 2 if you'd like to and see how it goes. If you want an easier, romantic concerto to learn, the Grieg Concerto is one of my favorites that you can consider! (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKmulnidhquYbK8si=FnMRIWOdqb3BuiP-)

@@CharlieAlbrightPianist Thanks for the advice! I've actually been having weekly piano classes for about 8 years now but I only began taking it seriously last year so since last year I've only learned the two pieces i mentioned. (Also tried Chopin's first ballade but I found it really difficult, couldn't get the hang of the coda). I'll look intro Grieg's concerto for sure!
@CharlieAlbrightPianistАй бұрын
@@zhen7020 Most people will probably say the Rach 2 is harder than the Chopin Ballades (at least technically), so maybe the Grieg is a good one to look into (it sounds harder/fancier than it is)! It's one of my favorites. Keep me posted as to what you decide to do, and good luck! :)

This is a fantastic performance! I love the clear voicing and phrasing ❤ One question, are concert pianists invited to perform a concerto with symphony orchestras or do pianists usually contact the orchestra for a performance? Who gets to select the piece? Thanks 🎉
@CharlieAlbrightPianistАй бұрын
Thanks so much! That’s a great question…maybe a good one for a Talking Time with Charlie episode. Sometimes booking agents will be in touch with orchestras for scheduling, and other times the orchestras contact you to invite you to perform with them.

@@CharlieAlbrightPianist Thank you so much! I was always curious about that, but now I know :D This is great channel; I really appreciate your content, especially the inspiring performance videos and masterclasses providing insightful advice. If I may request, I am very curious about your thoughts and interpretation on Chopin's G minor Ballade (No. 1). But at any rate, your rendition of one of my favorite concertos was absolutely stunning. Thank you for sharing this masterpiece and best wishes on your upcoming concerts!! 🎉

@@Rachhhhhhhhhhhh2-mv2 I use the una corda (soft) pedal and sustain pedal in almost every piece I play, at different times. Almost never use the middle pedal. 🤣

Oh my gosh, to see such an amazing pianist as Charlie Albright play one of the most beautiful piano pieces ever written is an amazing treat. The best part was having such a close image of Charlie’s hands, arms, body and face while he is performing this amazing piece. Thank you so much. I will watch this over and over again.
