The message at the end there was great, and TooGrown, you're right. We shouldn't take life for granted. If you're leading a happy life, continue it, and do everything you can to make it stay that way. Truly, even if life sucks, try to find that light at the end of the tunnel, and realise that you're not alone. Lots of people fight a battle to stay in this life every day, myself included. This is why many people, BTS included always say music transcends language, race and all inequalities, because it truly saves lives, with or without the language barrier.

Two more things I would like to add.. 1. When jin watches up in the staircase he poses his hands as a camera. That represents students who recorded their last moments in their phone camera which were later discovered. 2. When Jin watches those washing machines, and his face is shown from inside the machines, it looks like someone is looking from ferry windows. And yes, the captain did ask everyone to remain where they are.. You can find some footages of those students where you can hear regular announcement to stay where they are..

You know an added caveat, the US Military as well as the Japanese offered to help and they never reached out to them, despite the military stating they had training in this arena. The only 1 life boat deployed was that for the coward captain. He ordered evacuation after 30 minutes when the ship was tilting to a degree of no return. Until now i still feel furious.
@crowpearl5714 жыл бұрын
I watched the video of the clips taken by the kids, when the ship was in the process of sinking. A miracle that those phones survived. One kept saying that they should prepare because this is reality, and that they could die. One was saying how he hadn't gotten a girlfriend yet. One mentioned how he still had anime to watch. One shouted that they still had dreams. Many were already recording last regards to their parents, siblings and people they were close with. A lot of them were breaking down, at this point the boat was on such a tilt that the toilet water had poured out and it was difficult to get around. Another girl wanted them to all meet up after they survived, but in an interview with a survivor, she was one of the picture frames at the memorial. There was one instance where the students inquired about the friends on the ship's deck, speculating that they might have fallen off. Instead, those might have been the ones who were rescued. You could hear from the P.A. that the captain kept telling the children to "never" move or get out of their quarters. In fact, one boy began to really curse the captain multiple times, saying that his death will be caused by "this devastating captain". I would say, a good choice of last farewells. Currently, 2 scuba divers have lost their lives in search for missing bodies, which stands at 5 as of now. The crew have sentences of several years, while the captain dodged the death sentence. He has been sentenced to prison for life. BigHit and BTS have donated to the families.

This song is known as'The Queen', it hasn't left the Korean chart since it's release in February 2017. BTS have never said that the video is about the Sewol disaster, however with their track record of social commentary and deep compassion, it wouldn't be surprising if it was. At the time any artist directly commenting on the issue had to deal with the probability of being blacklisted by the then Korean government, which is why RM stated at the time that the song was about missing friends. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I can't watch this MV without tearing up. Especially since I witnessed firsthand the parents wailing and crying their eyes out in the subway station near the Blue House (Korea's White House). Went to Korea a year after this tragedy and there was a massive protest because of the Sewol tragedy and the government/President's corruption. The emotions and pain were still so raw. I'll never forget it.
@blueman23694 жыл бұрын
Sewol ferry tragedy happened in 2014. The Korean President at that time was impeached on March 10, 2017 and is in jail now because of many corruptions during her presidency. This song was released in February, 2017 just before the impeachment.
@Ara.K894 жыл бұрын
@@blueman2369 correct. But there were protests before the actual impeachment. I happened to be there the first time there was a massive protest. It wasn't the one that impeached the president, but it was the start of people calling attention to all the corrupt crap that was going on. Like how the then president was re-writing her family's history in textbooks to make them look like a clean and uncorrupt family and the obvious corrupt bs that was happening with the Ferry investigations.

When you realise what this song is actually about, you understand why it has remained in the Korean music charts since it was released. I was fortunate enough to be in Korea when there were many protests against the government over the treatment of this whole tragedy. Seeing the poor parents of those children demanding answers while carrying the pictures of their children who had passed was heartbreaking. I can clearly remember standing by the side of the road in Seoul crying my eyes out for them. A parent should never outlive their child. This song is so beautiful and so heartbreaking that every time I hear it I still cry. I am glad you took the time to look into it.

I’m glad you took the time to watch this. And although these are all theories, it basically tells the story. BTS themselves weren’t able to outright say or support because artists were being blacklisted speaking out against the government. So all of their support and efforts with this tragedy was done in silence and behind the scenes. You never walk alone was their album name with Spring Day. And as many people will say, Spring Day is the longest charting song on the Korean charts. It’s been in the top 100 since it’s release in 2017. And it goes to show how deep BTS’ music is. It’s mindful, thoughtful, aware, and meaningful. This is all part of that BTS charm. They’re real people no matter how big they get they stay humble and down to earth all while making music for all generations. I highly suggest watching the live performance of this on the 2020 commencement day. It’s one of the best live performances of this song.

A total of 14 teachers accompanied the students at the time of the accident, but they went downstairs to rescue the students and 3 were rescued and 11 others were permanently unable to escape from the ship. The vice principal who was one of survivors killed himself in the forest near Paengmok Port because he was guilty of returning alive. There was no homeroom teacher who came back alive. They have fulfilled their mission in the face of death.

This is why BTS'S music is special to us ARMYs. One of my friends, lost her father when she was 15 years old, and she was struggling a lot with depression during that time, because she used to be her father's favourite kid, and was really attached to him. And it was really difficult for her to get over it. The year she became an ARMY, I've never seen her be so happy like that before. BTS helped her a lot to fight depression, since some of the members also fought with it and have succeeded, and their music, the messages in their songs, helped her to get through tough times, and it is the same for me. My troubles were quite different to that of hers though. But BTS helps me a lot to stay strong and to believe in myself and to appreciate the small things in life 💜💜💜

It's not all of Kpop that's great... there were many more groups/agencies that followed the censorship laws... but BTS stood their ground. This tragedy will never be forgotten. The families of the children that have passed before their time deserve so much more. That's an understatement. The least we can do is remember.

TW DEATH in december 2016, my dad passed away due to congestive heart failure. he was old and disabled, and we were expecting it to happen sooner or later... but we were kind of still in shock when it happened. he'd survived multiple strokes and heart attacks before - it didn't feel real. i was fucking devastated. i'd lost my mom 5 years prior, just a month apart. i'd started getting into bts around this time, and i leaned heavily on them to keep my mind off of my grief. all i wanted was put all of my grief and sadness in a box, on a shelf, in the deepest recesses of my mind. but just a few months later, bts released spring day, a song that perfectly encapsulated my grief and pain. i didn't expect them to be so well-spoken, to somehow understand what that kind of loss felt like and put it into words. i was blown away, and it's one of the reasons i'm still such a dedicated fan. time and time again, they have proven to be so much more than who they think they are, without particularly trying to be anything but themselves. they have such beautiful souls and beautiful minds; they're more emotionally intelligent than many give them credit for, but it's this intelligence alongside their drive and passion that has enabled to create the art that they have, along with the gifted and highly skilled creative teams surrounding them. it's unlike anything else i have bore witness too. but again, that's why i'm still here. my first (and only, for now) two tattoos are related to them - i'm in the bangtan shit for life, man.

I love Spring Day. The song is beautiful, the lyrics are beautiful, the singers are beautiful, and the way they sing it is beautiful. I never thought much of the song as a sad song, but after watching the original video with theories, then watching videos of survivors, watching footage shot as the ship was sinking, and reading about the Sewol tragedy, I will never see the music video as I did before. Whenever I watch music videos, I usually don't look too deep into it. That's why I watch reaction videos of people like KZbinrs, directors, singers, camera directors, etc. reacting to them, so I can get a better insight of it. I'm glad I watched and read about Sewol, because the next time (if I do) [I] end up visiting South Korea, I'm going to do my best to visit the memorial. I may've not known about this until now and not known anyone who experienced the tragedy or lost someone to it or was there, but I definitely think it's worth my time to go there. This song wasn't an upbeat song, but I still liked it and could jam out to it. Now, if I watch it, tears are brought to my eyes, thinking about the Sewol tragedy.... I don't have words that explain how I feel listening and watching it, but... Yeah, that's all I got

You're very brave & openly honest to show your feelings publicly like you did here. So many men would've just never have posted this proof of their feelings, which is a shame that more would not be secure enough in themselves & who they are to do that. Because as we know all human beings have these feelings so I love that you're a good example for any guy to never be ashamed to shed years and show they have a heart. It is the most beautiful thing in a human, to be able to feel for others (in my opinion). I was amazed first time (I watched the mv explanation how much thought went into every single frame and section of the video ! It's just so impressive the depth BTS operates always delves into with their music & lyrics.& even more so to be as young as they are. But all of this is why everyone knows they are really a special group of young men, so special, that I feel they are a once in a generation occurrence & will go down in music's history as influential, as unique and memorable in their time, maybe more so, as Elvis, the Beatles and Prince were in their time..

I've cried a lot when I understood the meaning of this song and after I've watched all the videos on KZbin about this sad accident I cried even more, because I saw the picture of all the victims and the pain on the face of the parents and survivers! Only our Seven Special and Sensitive Boys could make such a beautiful tribute💖!

So I just want to say thank you for showing your feelings and not be afraid of crying, I feel like many reactors try not to cry when it is actually very sad. You are so genuine and I appreciate that, we all cry when we finally understand what Spring Day is about, that's why it's hard for me to understand when I see people not crying or not getting emotional only because they are afraid of the camera in front of them.

Spring Day keeps topping the charts because that's the goal. Spring Day's goal is to never let the people forget about the victims (that's explained at the latter part of this video).

This is why i can't afford to listen to Springday again. The song itself makes me cry. I always remember the students who passed away on the Sewol tragedy when I'm listening to it.

Your honest reaction touches all of us. This is why BTS is more than a seven member singing group! Thanks for your video. I’m in tears now too. 💜 Heartfelt sympathy for those who are missing their loved ones.

If this video does not make you cry, you have no 💜, simple as that. It also shows how very deep the songwriters of the group are. Thanks for your honest reaction, bruh. You did good. What did Jimin famously say? “You good...keep going”.

You don’t have to be an ARMY to appreciate this song. Any kind hearted human being would be moved by this masterpiece. As a parent of 2 teenagers, I can’t and wouldn’t even begin to imagine the heartbreaks those parents went through. Thank you for reacting to this and sharing your emotions with us. 💜💜💜

When I first watched that explanation video it made me really sad, but once I learned even more about the tragedy it was worse. I watched the "What Went Wrong in the South Korean Ferry Disaster" youtube video from The New Yorker and I was bawling. They go into a lot of details that you might have questions about. The level of government corruption that led to the president at that time being impeached. The video alluded to the possibility that some kids may have survived in air pockets as the ferry sank, but all the government rescuers did was PRETEND to look like they were rescuing them to save face in from the the president and the public. I can't imagine that! They refused foreign help. They lied to the families. They didn't let civilian rescuers help for long. It's just all horrible. There's this other Spring Day analysis video by Italian Army (What you STILL DON'T KNOW about BTS SPRING DAY MV) and it goes even to more details. Like how that scene where Jin is in the laundry room looking through the washer's window looks eerily like a video from one of the civilian divers looking through a porthole of the ferry for bodies. Or how the merry-go-round behind Jungkook has a similar color and rusty texture of the ferry when the government finally fished it out. The more you know, the more it hurts. But I accept it because this hurt will make me remember this and remember to not let things like it happen again. The Ark had a song called "The Light" that they released around the anniversary and that mv made me cry out my eyes as well.

I was lucky enough to see one of Christian Boltanski's Clothes Pile installations in NYC. It's shocking at first, chaotic and beautiful all at once. It's massive size dwarfs you and makes you feel small next to the human deaths each piece of clothes represents.

The news media were saying that they were being rescued and even reported that all the kids had been saved when they actually weren't. A lot of the kids got ahold of their parents while the boat was sinking to ask them what to do. The parents going by what the news was saying, told their kids to stay put, that they were being rescued and to do what the captain told to them to do. I can't imagine being the parent that told your kid to stay put and it was the wrong thing to do. How guilty they must feel. Spring day is a song that is loved very much. It's never fallen off the charts.

I'm not an emotional person but there is something about this song and the tragedy it was based off that really strikes some cord in me. It hurts knowing these kids thought they were going to have the time of their lives only to have it cruelly cut short like this. Thinking about how helpless they must've felt, all the regrets and dreams they could never conquer. It makes my heart hurt so badly, every single time I hear this song.

The first time I watched the MV of Spring Day I knew there's a deeper meaning in all the scenes there. I just analyzed it the first time thru their moods in their faces and through the melody of the song which I knew something something sad...but after watching this video now I know the deeper meaning of the song. I can't move on thinking of that tragedy. I love how BTS expresses their support though this MV
