In order to reach a BAC of 0.08, Suga would have needed to consume anywhere from 2-5 drinks. However if the police are right and it’s true that he smelled of alcohol, it was likely more. Also, even if the scooter was going as slow as 10-15mph, that is still enough for him to have potentially kiIIed or seriously disfigured an innocent pedestrian. I am seeing many people defending his actions, or accusing people of blowing his crime out of proportion, so I just want to give context that drunk driving, no matter what, is deadly and unacceptable. Not everything is a conspiracy, sometimes celebrities just do bad things.

Hwarang’s situation upsets me so much. Pushing an idol out of their career just for them visiting a club, not committing any crimes, just doing average young adult things-it just enables those toxic “fans” to lead campaigns like this again and again and again, and to feel more and more entitled to idols’ lives. @@Mylife-clueless I’m in several fandoms, specifically a few boy group fandoms, and what I’ve noticed is that it can really depend on how the company markets the group. A couple fandoms I’m in have fan songs, aka songs dedicated to fans, but the songs themselves are about support and always being a fan-not romance. They’ll do fan service stuff but it always feels either like exactly that (fan service) or an inside joke/game between the idol and the fans. Certainly some fans may take it seriously, but a lot don’t. The companies market the group as just plain ol idols, or as the fans’ friends, but not as their s/os. But there’s this one fandom in particular that I’m in where the company markets the boys as the “boyfriends” of their fandom. And it’s the only fandom I’m in where I consistently see fans taking _anything_ romantic in _any_ song or music video as “for the fans” or “fan insert.” They assume romance songs are fan songs when they’re not. And unsurprisingly, it’s the fandom with the most amount of conflict and in-fighting (that I’m a part of.) Fans in that fandom are incredibly possessive and it breeds akgaes and sasaengs. There’s definitely normal, kind, cool people in the fandom too, but in comparison to the other fandoms, there’s more unhinged people in this one, and I truly think it’s because of the marketing.

Most of the fellow kpop fans I have met are teens and I think they have the hardest time with knowing what's "real" or fan service. I feel like a lot of the conversation surrounding Suga is people at one of two extremes: 1) Those who treat it like a joke and/or excuse it completely 2) those who treat it as if he should be dealt a "life sentence" for it (so to speak). Did he make a stupid decision? Yes. Could something bad have happened? Yes... however, thankfully, it DIDN'T (which should not be ignored). Should he get off scot-free? No, and he won't - he'll be punished by law as appropriate. Is it "funny"? Not really (I mean, yeah, I'll admit there is some humor to the manner in how/when he fell - but if you can't also admit he made a very bad decision I question your own decision making ability). He's a human being. Human beings make mistakes and bad decisions. In the end NO ONE and no thing was hurt (and its no use to live life by the "what ifs"). He showed remorse, he apologized for making that bad decision. IDK, I believe in forgiveness. Would the story be different if someone was hurt? IMO, absolutely... BUT THE POINT IS NO ONE WAS. Its all just very frustrating how polarized so many people seem to be on this. On another note: I'm not a fan of Tempest but honestly situations like that will never fail to piss me off. Idols are human beings and deserve private lives and all that. Parasocial relationships in general are scary, but with kpop they are often straight horror to me.

The same type of model is sold by korean shops as a kickboard as well. Thank you for the clarification in the comments that the cctv footage hasn't been confirmed, it's still disappointing you used the footage in the video without saying it though as everything we've heard about what he was riding actually goes against that footage showing a more moped like vehicle. In reference to Yoongi calling it an electric kickboard, the type that fold even with a seat ARE commonly referred to as electric kickboards in korea still. The follow up weverse notification did NOT say it wasn't a kickboard rather they said "During the further verification process, we recognized that the classification may vary depending on the performance and specifications of the product, and that the scope of responsibility for the accident may also vary." Which neither confirms nor denies it. It's up to debate still if the model of electric kickboard is considered a PM, thus the investigation continuing, but the weight and speed limit on the kickboard has been confirmed to actually be a LOT closer to a PM than the police and media reported.

Aghhh! It turns out that the CCTV video of Suga allegedly driving a scooter on the road was completely FAKE and that it was not Suga at all. REAL CCTV footage shows Suga on a small scooter riding on the SIDEWALK, not the street. REAL CCTV even shows the moment Suga turned into his complex right outside the gate when he turned too sharply and fell. Police DID NOT find him unconscious on the sidewalk like previously erroneously reported!

Ok so here some information: By the looks of it, it was a kickboard (even police called it that at first) and Suga also said kickboard in his appology. Later on police classified it as a scooter cuz it had a seat and could go 30km/h and not 25km/h like kickboards. Funny thing is that it is still sold as a kickboard on the internet, it also weights the same as a kickboard. The video footage is also not confirmed to be him.

In South Korea, electric kickboards are available for rent or permitted for operation with a driver’s license and riders are expected to follow traffic laws applicable to car drivers. JUST TO LET YOU ALL KNOW THE TRUTH : according to the latest informations and surveillance footage released by KOREAN AUTHORITIES this morning, the individual depicted in the video previously claimed to be Suga riding an electric scooter 🛵 WAS NOT HIM. He was indeed riding a kickboard -the type with no seat- over a distance confirmed of approximately 500m, and he was traveling at a very slow speed of around 10km/hours. So he DIDN'T ATTEMPTED TO DOWNPLAY this incident nor did his company, LET ALONE LYING. Furthermore, CONTRARY to some media reports suggesting he collapsed on the ground and required police assistance to stand, the truth is that Suga just lost his balance while turning left into his apartment complex. He fell but IMMEDIATELY got back up on his own, at which point the police arrived. No injuries, no damage to public property. However, even though media reports have significantly distorted the events, this does not excuse Suga's action to ride while under the influence, even if it was just a kickboard or whatever. Suga has since apologized as soon as he was sober, and I trust that he won't replay anything like this. We encourage all the Army to view this incident as a cautionary tale and always adhere to laws and regulations to protect both yourselves and others 💜💜💜

Also, Korea is treating Suga’s incident far more gravely and with more coverage than your First Lady’s scandal. Also, ARMY realize that Suga’s DUI is a serious matter. Nobody is minimizing it or treating it as a nothing. Suga is facing serious consequences for his actions, as well he should.
