Back then, it wasn't "normal" or "usual" for kpop idols to sing and perform songs they help wrote or produced themselves. Actually before debut and after they would come out as back up dancers or backup singers to other groups or extra on music videos on top of everything they need to do as a trainee or a starting idol group. I guess Mr. Bang did that in order to make them feel comfortable on stage and in front of the cameras. There is a video that shows them doing all that. They really started from the bottom and made their way up the ladder of popularity. I love this group so much and the fandom community they’ve created.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

12:18 They were different. There’s a well known music critic (a musicologist) who had been watching BTS existence in the k-music/pop world, even before BTS was formed. He said so himself the concept of BTS was really an interesting (surprising) idea like it was unusual. Hip-hop idols. Not just slapping a label in them, but really hip-hop group but idols at the same time. Other popular kpop groups from the big companies back then had rapping in songs, but they weren’t really hip-hop group or really “hip-hop”? (Kim Youngdae’s first book was on hip-hop). Anyway, BTS were different in that but also the fact they didn’t have the privileges of wealth and status. Remember Baepsae (Silver Spoon)? From what I learned, there is thing where there are spoon classes. There are nine spoon class labels with platinum spoon being at the top, and silver spoon is fourth in that rank. BTS was called “dirt spoon”, which is ninth, the very bottom. If you remember Mic Drop (2017), j-hope’s first line is “yeah, who said my spoon is dirty? I don’t care. Once I hold my mic, I beat up several gold spoons.” They were looked down upon for multiple reasons and that was one of the big ones because they did not come from the big 3 companies that ruled the kpop industry (who had influence in networks/media) or any other bigger ones. So, the fact BTS got attention for their debut and down the line, of course they are going to sh*t on them for anything they do that the audience (who aren’t already dedicated solely to other big popular groups) would be interested in them. BTS was a threat, because they didn’t even have a lot of money to get interest and gain excited/passionate fans from. Their message they relate to, their edginess, and their talent/hard work… (though while wearing non-designer clothes, wearing knock-offs)… sparked interest. The industry and the obsessed stans of those big groups are not gonna have them upstage their precious acts.

The secret to BTS’ was truly a combination of their lyrics, album themes, powerful and precise performances, untouchable production, social media presence, and their integrity/courage to talk about the things they did. With every BTS comeback (up until 2019 BTS would release 2 albums per year- alongside promoting more than 1 song on each album) BTS noticeably gained more fans, and we can’t point at just one thing to thank for that. It was and still is thanks to an amalgamation of all the things I listed above that attracted new fans and made them stay and become ARMYs.

31:52 oh no no no. JK is the youngest he could not get angry or slam the door etc. you could NOT do that. And JK got sad and worried and of course frustrated/angry on the inside but you can not get mad like that at someone older. It's Korea. Remember you use honorifics, talk formally to older people even within BTS that are so close and close in age. You don't even say you are chingu/friend with someone unless you are born the same year. It can be hard to understand how the language works like that and the culture but you also are respectful to people older than you, it's different from for example you in the US and normal so it's not like they even think about it. ah I don't know if this was explained ok. You will also get to know JK as one of the most sensitive emo and see him cry a lot through the years. Especially at the end of concerts or talking about fans or how much the members mean or if another member cries.

Don’t forget the BONUS SCENES TOO Please.💜🥰 The reason Jin was crying near the beginning was because his shorts were loose & they kept falling down, bless him. As for the hats…? I think you know that Jimin keeps hold of his, so JK already has one..well he has 2. He throws 1 & still has the 2nd. Such a cruel prank on JK, he was still a bubba & only 16yo but they were tears of relief I think. Hitman Bang the big boss, the producer, manager, staff & Bangtan were in on it! They have a tradition on birthdays to either make you cry, give you punches & kicks up to the age you are & I can’t remember the last one.🤔 It’s at least so much better than the one from American Hustle Life. Who on Earth thought it was a good idea to get 3-4 large muscular men to pretend to kidnap them? An awful idea! To prank kidnap them in a different/strange country. Just dreadful! Then the treatment Jin & Yoongi got from 1 guy was horrid too.🥺😔Another series to watch maybe? It’s a bit cringe but gives you insight to how hard they worked. Also a great series you can find on KZbin is Rookie King, they were savage with each other.😂 It’s very easy to think that they just ‘popped up’ out of nowhere but that couldn’t be further from the truth. They were ‘Monster’ rookies that had great songs that spoke to all ages, explosive, extremely in sync & different types of dancing. Produced their own music, wrote their own lyrics, also Namjoon wrote for other groups. Their online presence also helped as we got to see their personalities & how much fun they were. They were becoming well known & already had a growing fan base all over the world through their different social media posts. As we saw on this episode they posted many logs, activities & their trainee days. Comebacks are different in South Korea, it can be a mini album, a 2 song Album. We would release a new album, they have comebacks.

BTS was a group nicknamed "Rookie Monster", which is how groups who have been acing their game ever since the start are called. BTS had intense choreography and synchronization from the start and their vocalists/rappers are good, they competed with 2nd generation groups (older and more experienced groups) and often outperformed them. Fanchant depends on the country and culture, for example K-Armys and J-Armys are the most organized when it comes to reciting it, Armys in South American countries are more passionate, they will scream louder, dance more freely, the Armys in the US and in Europe also are more free spirited. RM has already said that obviously the audiences are different from one country to another, in the US for example he said that the American Armys expected a show "that destroys the stage", therefore very powerful and impactful. BTS adapts its performances according to the audience, it also reminds me that when they performed Fake Love, Jungkook twice lifts his t-shirt and we see his abs, well when he performs in Japan he refrains from raising his t-shirt while in the US, in their first TV award performance (billboard) he lifted his t-shirt and during their concerts too. Anyway, good video, can't wait to see the next episode.

I think one of the things that helped them with the debut stage and the pressure, just like the MC said, they greeted the cameras in relaxed way unlike other rookie groups, was that they were literally constantly being filmed from day to day, even before their debut. And also they recorded the vlogs and all that. All of it is extra experience. And of course the fact that they were given the freedom to be 100% themselves. They didnt go there to perform a song someone else made, and they just practiced it. They just needed to be themselves. Not to say they didnt still feel the pressure, they did, but it was more due to the fact that theyre company was so small that if they blew this opportunity, there wasnt gonna be another one. I think that made them even more hungry to succeed and they were stronger because of it.

To put things into perspective of how competitive the K-pop scene is and how INCREDIBLY difficult it is to both find success and longevity in the way BTS has, consider the fact that 40 other groups and artists debuted along with BTS in the year of 2013; of those 40 groups and artists, only a handful are still active today. The rest are either on an indefinite hiatus or have disbanded long ago. The fact that BTS were the ones who made it out of all those other people resolidifies how hard they worked and how they were always special from Day 1. As a fan of BTS since 2014, there’s no shortage of proud mom feelings when it comes to supporting these guys 🤧😭❤️

@GetSidewaysReacts if you notice in this video, one thing that is shown to us very clearly, is how Bang PD engaged the BTS boys in every aspect of their career, you can see it in the music video production. They're reviewing, alongside the video crew, segments that were just filmed to see how it looks and how they can improve for the next shoot. I don't know if other k-pop groups are that involved with every aspect of their product as the BTS boys were and still are. So what it shows me is from the onset, Bang PD had a vision for the seven members that they would be much more than just a group of guys with good voices. That they would be future leaders and producers in the music industry by giving them the opportunities to learn and develop the skill set for all aspects of their content production. And this was proven later on in their career, where at different times each member took on different roles including album or music video concept design, production scheduling, and much more.

They still make time to login and chat with fans. JK nearly broke the fandom this week responding to 63 Q &As on Instagram and out right flirting, Tae was off chatting with fans on Weverse but shutting them down the anti JK, then today we had RM chatting with fans in Weverse. On Weverse they all just randomly reply to fans posts as they feel like. Jimin does a lot and sometimes it’s short or one of them might write an essay. But it’s informal and friendly in a way you so rarely see with artists and fans. It all started that way from the very beginning.

Btw, the title of these episodes are just titles that kind of describe the episode. So just because the next episode is titled House of Cards, it’s not about the era when they recorded House of Cards. That song came out few years later after they debuted. Another note, when JK said he’s 17 (Korean age), he was actually 15. If any member says his age, in most cases, minus 2 yrs would be safe bet that is their real age. J-Hope and Suga usually minus 1 yr, because their birthdays are early in the year. So if they say their age in Korea or anybody who lives in Korea say their age, it’s always the Korean age. If in America, like articles on BTS and stuff, referring to members’ ages are likely their actual age (global age).

I really love this series. You can see through their little logs, that they really were just young kids chasing their dreams and giving it their all. I think their dedication and passion really got through to the audience at that time. They were definitely different from other groups. Its quite rare even now for idols to be self-producing their own music, so that definitely set them apart from the rest. They have also set the standard fpr other idols now, all yhe bhind the scenes videos wwre not at all the norm for other idol groups, but now all other idol groups film behind the scenes videos too. BTS' logs still remain uniquely a bts thing tjough 😊 this video series truly illustrates how hard they worked to get to where they are now. They were not afraid to give everything they had. They were also wonderously mature for their age, and you can see it through many of their logs, particularly namjoons.

21:52 you are right, it's a trick, JK already have a hat and Jimin just pretends to throw his but then hides it. If you keep your eyes on Jimin in these performances you see him drop it or throw it away or puts it on after he goes and stands in the back and if you keep your eyes on JK before the "throw" you can see he is holding but hiding one. But they are so good and have such timing that it's almost impossible to see and if it's the first time you watch it you will have your eyes on Jimin before he "throws" it and on JK after so you don't see what the other one does before and after.

By the way i suggest watching (even if it's not reacting and just u both watching it off cam) xcelestes vids on bts's hardships. During the whole documentary there will be out of context mentions of the things bts n army's went thru let it be hate online or offline, ppl pulling strings to get rid of bts, media play directed at bts in a negative way, bts n army's being dragged into political plays or issues, accusations of chart manipulations etc etc all these happen even now in a daily but it's best if u have a little insight to understand the whole journey better

BTS are very dedicated to their work. They go above and beyond. Almost 10yrs in the industry and their dedication and love of music & craft is still going strong. Still pushing their limit. Never settled less.

BTS debuted as a Hip Hop Idol group, and they were the only ones that were bringing Classic Western Hip Hop to the K-Pop scene. And yes, their choreography is known as being top notch. Even back in their beginnings. And as far as I know, it wasn't common for K Pop groups to record their journey and reach out to their fans through social media before debut. BTS are unique in that way. Also, BTS wrote and produced their music from the beginning, covering topics that were important to them and the youth of South Korea, from their own experience. K Pop was Not known for encouraging their artists to write their own music. Big Hit encouraged BTS from the beginning to do that, giving them creative freedom. It was the manager that left the room and slammed the door, because RM continued to talk to Jungkook after that. In the beginning, they have to hustle because of the competition. So making albums one after the other makes sense, because they are a small group from a small company. That is why the big 3 companies have the most successful groups, they have the money and influence to promote their teams. Hundreds debut every year and only 1% make it. So yeah, they had to work their butts off in order to have a chance. By the time this docu-series is done, there will be 23 episodes. Aneesa said she was wrapping it up by that episode. I hope I get to meet her someday, she is really an amazing person. Maybe at the PTD Las Vegas concert on the 16th. Thank you for reacting to this docu-series. I'm enjoying watching your journey. From UGH! to now, it's been a fun ride 😊 Borahae 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

During the interview(M count down interview), they said the hat performance was real. JK interview: Jungkook laughed, saying, "When Jimin threw me the hat and I received it, it was my first time receiving such cheers, and I felt like I became something."
