If I'm not wrong the story behind the song is La Città di Smeraldo’ (the emerald City) , is a place in a small town in Italy in the 16th century. It's a story about an ‘ugly’ man who has locked himself into an ancient castle to hide himself from the world, the thing he loved to do is growing flowers. He saw a woman trespassed his garden stole his flowers from his garden. She did that many times, so without him knowing, he became interested in that woman. Finally he found out that she's selling those flowers in the town for her living. He wanted to help her but he afraid that she wouldn't like him bc he's ugly. So, the only way to help her is to keep going plant the flower so she can steal and sell them. he created a special flower that doesn't exist in the planet, esmeraldo flower. But after the special flowers growing beautiful but she stopped coming, he waited 'n waited until he found out that she had died. It's heartbreaking story. If see again the lyrics ; V- This garden is filled With blossoming loneliness I tied myself To this sand castle filled with thorns (resembles himself) JK- What is your name? Do you even have a place to go? Oh could you tell me? The Truth Untold is based on La Citta Di Smeraldo. It’s the story of a man who kept himself hidden in a castle because he thought of himself as an ugly person. One day a woman came near his castle and picked his flowers. He was angry at first but eventually became curious and waited for her. He found out that she was actually selling those flowers for a living. The man fell in love but didn’t want to show himself because he was “too ugly” which is shown in the lyrics as “You know that I can’t show me, give you me”. So he decided to plant a flower that didn’t exist on the planet so she could sell it at an expensive price. Eventually, he managed to fill his garden with them but the woman stopped coming. After some time, he found out she was dead. That part in the song where they sing “But I still want you” is about him regretting not telling her his feelings all because he didn’t love himself first.

Actually that story has made by a shop flower's blog which only sell one type of flower thats called Smeraldo and as some theories of fans, that florist's actually has made by Bighit cause that florist's blog only opened when BTS prepared for comeback

I love songs that tell a story that can play in my mind while listening like this one. The message is so tough, but a true one... "I breathe as the me that you know", man that just hits. Thinking of yourself as wrong or full of flaws so you hide yourself behind a mask to the point where you don't even know if any of that is "you" anymore (Singularity), not letting people know your real self and therefore, and now were're jumping to Fake Love, feeling like the love you're receiving from others isn't real, or at least not meant for "you", as the people giving you love don't know the "true you", fake love. I'm so glad this album came out at the time it did, because it was a vital time in my life, personal development wise. When armys say BTS' lyrics truly have a deep impact on us we mean it, because delving into their lyrics also means reflecting on yourself. And man, did it have a deep impact on me. RM's solo mixtape "mono", which came out a few months later, too. Those two albums had the biggest impact on me.

Right ! The thumbnail just showed the other three vocalists and cut JK out which I thought was a little sad. They’re all top tier vocalists.. but jungkook is the main vocalist for a very good reason.. and his harmony and adlibs in this song .. or any sing actually are just always chefs kiss. His emotional execution is so underrated and under appreciated in this fandom. If another member gets some positive review of something in a song.. it trends with fans and then it’s only their thing… and it always turns into something dismissed of the other vocalists. Unless it’s JK though.. it’s always been a little different towards him and I don’t understand why.. like people pushing the one performance where tae did some adlibs instead of jk… and I love tae tae but JKs adlibs are just god tier… imo jungkooks adlibs are special and not just a couple notes at the end of his last word or something.. the variety at the end just feel so essential.. without them it’s just not the same . They all have their major strengths and are so talented.. but jks adlibs are untouchable imo especially in this song… jimin has some good ones in other songs that I love.. especially earlier songs… of course Jin’s iconic scream ones in Dionysus.. but jk it’s every song lol I’m so passionate about adlibs 😂 don’t mind me lol end rant

Where did you find that information? Because the blog post was just BigHit in 2017, but there’s internet post that predate the BU storyline telling this same story of it being from 15th to 16th century northern Italian folklore. I’m confused.

@@MarilynPF I've asked help from people who speaks Italian, and I also got similar info from other ARMY who spoke to Italian ARMY, and nobody found anything indicating it's an actual legend. The places mentioned are fictional and there are no legends about other cities which are exactly the same. There are similar stories (including some versions of the Beauty and the Beast) but not this one. But you're right, the story is beautiful. if Shrimp can share the link, that would be great

- one of my favourite From vocaline ..it sad but Beautiful,yes it can be inspired from "legend of Smeraldo flowers"(they had a lots of time smeraldo flowers reference as metaphor in Thiers BU UNIVERSE) but actually it just one meaning .."the truth untold" is one of those BTS song that can have many interpretation since it's 3 title track from album love yourself: tears that how I interpreted it : 1- it talk about inner struggles of peoples who are forced to hide their trueselves vulnerabilities under a mask in order to keep going, so it about fear to show true selves ,as not telling the truth to our loved ones because of fear that the truth will hurt them to the point where they will leave. For bts their lies (truth untold) is that it’s their fate to forever idols/artists. to keep putting on their best face and put that forward,cause they have no other option they want ARMYs to keep “lying” to them and be able to hear how much we love them despite the fact they can’t show us 100% who they really are for example lines like “You know that I can’t show you me, give you me” speaks on an extremely personal level. their reality of an idol is understood by putting on a mask and acting in a certain way to please the public, and meeting the standards of a perfect idol persona. They cannot show us their entire real selves, their fears and weaknesses for fear of being rejected, judged or even lose army,Another reference to this meaning of “The Truth Untold” lies in the comeback reel highlights for their “Fake Love” title track. One caption reads, “We can’t show you our pathetic selves, so we put on our masks to see you.” Their pathetic selves is further stated by Seokjin, who talked about many members being both physically and mentally exhausted. The pressure is mounting higher and higher, and there’s no relenting. Before I fell into the rabbit hole, this was the song that pulled me in. I was vacuuming my house very late the night before I was meeting with my sisters who one was into bts and asked to join her to watch their LV concert movie at the theater. I was preparing myself by asking Alexa to play bts on Spotify. BOY I HAD NO IDEA I KEPT WALKING OVER TO ALEXA SCREEN TO MAKE SURE I WAS LISTENING TO THE RIGHT PLAYLIST BC I WAS SO IN DISBELIEF HOW GOOD THEIR SONGS WERE!!!!! Although I didn’t know what this song was about at that time I FELT IT.. I was in such a dark place and this was where I found bts and bts found me. The Truth Untold will always be apart of my step into happiness til this day. 💜

The album is "Love yourself Tear" like a tear you cry. Not like tearing your clothes. To me, this song is to the women (and possibly men) that the members of BTS have wanted to be with romantically, but can't be with because of the idol system & because of possessive ARMY'S who flip out when BTS are even friends with some people. It breaks my heart. They deaerve a life with love, passion, physical & emotional intimacy. Like "I can't be with you, but I really want to." Such a beautiful & sad song.

It's probably going to sound weird, but the first time I heard this, my thoughts were "Don't hide. Show me, show me the truth of you". I think I may have gotten a little too emotionally invested in the song - or maybe it was just a result of the emotional power they brought to the song - but I just wanted to reach out to the man in the song. To somehow ease his pain. To... Even now, when I hear it, it creates an ache in my heart. And a need to help. But there's nothing I can do. So I'm left feeling... I'm not sure how I feel - but I feel it so strongly. And now I'm going to stop, before I cry. Look after yourselves. You are all unique and beautiful. You all have meaning and worth. I don't mind if there is a real story or not, I really love this song so, so much and algso, is so good to watch your reactions, bc you're emotional and true to what you are and what you believe. It's really a delight! 95% of the time we are on the same page. Listen to TTU always makes me cry, especially when watching the stage presentation of day 1 in São Paulo Brazil in 2019. Jimin had a sore throat and was having a bad time singing this song. When he took off his ear piece and heard the Armys singing together, he broke and started to cry. It's very emotional for any Army to see. You find fan cams on KZbin.

I hear this song in alot aways. 1 from BTS's point of veiw as a group and individually. No matter if people think they know them or if they have to pretend ro be something that they aren't or if ARMY has fallen in love with this masked singer they still want us. And I feel for them. Fun fact the rise of bangtan is kinda showing this in episodes 18 on. 2 I think about my self who see herself as ugly and isolate myself. 3 this one was hard because I think of my children. I feel like I expect something from them that is not who they are. I am making them where this mask to meet me but they still desire my love. Since I have met BTS my life have changed. This album was my first comeback. I found BTS in 2017 DNA Era.
