This video of DKDKTV was released on March 2020, so when Danny said "I think they (the Rapline) had in mind the tragic incidents that happened in kpop last year", he refers to the tragic death of Sulli a famous idol who died a few months ago (October 2019, RIP😢🕊) . She committed suicide because of all the online hate that were thrown on her by those haters. Online hate is really something serious, words can easily become swords, online hate is like stabbing somebody on the back. A lot of hate is thrown on idols, making them lose faith on their dreams, making them give up and commit suicide. Sulli is not the first idol who committed suicide because of haters. Hate, bullying are one of the reasons that make people commit to the act and in South Korea the suicide rate is pretty high (among the top 15 countries with the highest suicide rate)

the explanation video was made 2 years ago so when he says "things that happened last year", it has nothing to the with the rona. I know over the years, there were a few idols who took their own lives because of online bullying, so I'm guessing he's referring to something like that. the mentioning of the previous president impeachment is related to the "Spring day" MV, which I'm sure you'll check out sometimes in the future (that MV also definitely "requires" an explanation video to go with it). I visited both South Korea and Japan twice. those are beautiful countries and you should definitely go visit when you get the chance.

One thing I love is that the song itself is hype but it’s a very deep and important message we really need to hear and discuss. The depth of topics and the artistic way they communicate with playful colorful language, the rap flow, the use of gunshots. Brilliant song and one of my absolute favorites.

Since you mentioned both k dramas and the historical shows, you should check out Hwarang the flower knights! it takes place in the Sillia dynasty (I could be wrong about the exact dynasty sry) there's a few idols in there including BTS V! It's about beautiful knight warriors, it's rly good. 💜 Another good 1 combines zombies and historical stuff, Kingdom. Unique zombies in the time where to communicate with other villages you have to walk or ride a horse, and not many guns, the ones they do have are the rly old kind that were a process to load. 💜

Bullying is a big issue in Korea and because mental health is still kind of taboo and not talked about a lot of people suffering from depression hurt themselves, the incident David is talking about would the the unaliving of Sulli and Goo Hara who died only a month apart, sad fact is the leading causing death for youth 13-24 in Korea is suicide

Unfortunately, there were several big IDOLS who decided to end their life because of mental health struggles do to online bullying Jonghyun from SHINee in 2017, Sulli from f(x) in 2019, and a few months later, Sulli’s good friend, Goo Hara from Kara. They were amazing artists. Sadly, in 2020 to now, Lucas from NCT, BI from IKON, and Wonho from MonstaX left their groups because of accusations and their agencies didn’t protect them. TOP, a member of BigBang (KPOP royalty), was hit so hard his mother had to appeal to the media to stop harassing her son.

This unfortunately has caused several idols to take their own lives because they couldn't deal with it anymore. Idols need to be protected against all types of bullying including death threats. It should never be allowed to mentally or physically harm the idols. Depression is real and a serious issue. You will need to react to IDOL as well thwre is so much stuff in so many songs by them like their I think even pre debut track Satoori rap that involves dialects. It is so great but anyways you as a Black person will as well face racism in Korea and Japan. Let me just explain why that is a huge problem there. There is a thing called colorism. So the darker your skin is the poorer you are. Because royalty mostly was indoors so they were basically white sometimes. That was there for a long time and still is that is why racism is there so present some white people that go there are like "they see us as gods or something". No not really it already was a tradition there but yes when Europeans came there they showed that to them as well. But people forget that it already was there. Colorism is sometimes used as a jokejust like any other discrimination. And many times ppl say this and that person is a colorist because said something like "you are too dark I couldn't see you" idk why so many people got offended. Some black people that reacted to it laughed but alright. That was something RM said in the past if you are asking.
