The story is from Greek mythology. Pygmalion, played by V in this narrative, was a Cypriot sculptor who, in Ovid's Matamorphoses, pledged to remain celibate and devote himself solely to his art. One day, he sculpted a beautiful woman out of ivory alabaster. She was so perfect that he fell in love with her. On Aphrodite's festival day, Pygmalion quietly wished for a bride with the living likeness of his "ivory girl." Aphrodite granted him that wish, and the sculpture became human. This is where V's story and Ovid's story diverge. In Ovid's narrative, Pygmalion marries the sculpture-turned-human. In V's narrative, there is no happy ending -- only the realization that artistic perfection takes human form only in the fictive world of mythology.

Taehyung has been through major depression twice. He has matured and calmed down as he got over it. Bow, he has a calm, mellow vibes. He has been through a lot, and although he is not always depressed, there are times when he is in that mood. I like how he embraces melancholy as long as he's not really sad

V the sculptor made V the statue (of himself), along with the girl statue. He must be projecting his own desires to be with someone in his V statue. Thus, when the V statue came to life, he imagined living the life, ie, going around, being awed by other lives (like the butterfly, partying, being with a girl, even celebrating a birthday. But that will end, and thus the heartbreaking sadness in V’s eyes when he realized he is not real. This is when you see the girl and even his face in the mirror disappearing. The sculptor V is bloodied. This may relate to the scene where he showed frustration and broke some of his works in the workshop. The scene where V was scratching his undereye is also projected in his sculpture of himself. This is what I think at least. Right or wrong, the MV is brilliant. It evokes many thoughts even after watching the MV, and has real depth. V’s acting is so effective and his vocal harmony with PH is superb! Overall visual is unparalleled throughout the video. Korea’s best talent and treasure, V!

Not showcasing depression anymore - he did at one point in his life but has been very happy with his life for some time now. He is incredibly artistic. Everything he does turns into a work of art. And you are correct, he doesn't follow trends. He follows his own mind and soul. And it's incredible. Some of this is based on the story of Pygmallion. But with Taehyungs twist.

Something crazy just came to my mind. In the last scene, the statue Taehyung made up to shoulder is a man (probably himself). But instead of making him, he turns him into a woman and uses her to make him happy and not be lonely. But in fact, what he needed was himself. He don't need a girl to be happy. That's why he confronts himself(statue one) in a wounded way.
