One often neglected factor: Many groups compete amongst themselves until they unravel. BTS support, learn from, and teach each other. And willingly step back to let each other shine. Jin's 'Awake' speaks to this. And Jimin's Suchwita too. Anyone can work hard and learn the business. BTS' perfect chemistry cannot be manufactured. If it could be, we'd have world peace by now. And that's why you, and us, protect 'our boys'. They are raising the next generation in the best way. 💜🌏

I love that through Suchwita Suga is helping spread their way of treating each other - and their peers. Visibly, publicly talking with other successful idols both older and younger, modeling mutual respect. I think he's going to stay in the industry a long time, and I think he's going to change it, maybe as much as Bang Si-Hyuk has. And while I think he's the most determined to build sustainable and healthy kpop structures, the whole group is with him. I think their internal harmony owes a ton to the early leadership from RM and Suga. The two of them have never even hinted at competition even though they're both rappers and songwriters. And that model - the "yeah I'm awesome and so are you" approach - influenced the way the group treats everyone else. A bunch of them have said they didn't want younger groups to have no one to talk to who had experienced what they have. Some people get through challenges, succeed, and think everyone else should have to fight just as hard; others can look at their challenges, see which of them were productive and which were too much, and do something to make things easier for the next person. I'm glad they're taking that second approach. It makes it easy to be proud of them.

The thing that speaks loudly about Zach's relationships with BTS is that he was the only American interviewer Namjoon has spoken with to promote Indigo in USA. I remember when Zach met BTS first couple of times and how relieved and amazed guys were when they found out that he actually listened to their music and read translations and he asked all relevant questions and then was the only one interviewer from that time who asked them about their UNICEF campaigns.

I think we practiced a lot more than others and we are still practicing too. When we are on stage, we think we are the best, all the time. Of course, it's not a sport game but I've never thought we'd lose if we compete with others. We are prepared that much. To be honest, we didn't get success like this from the beginning. We've experienced all sort of things. As a result, we can cope with anything, and I think we would have been able to do better on stage. Since we have experienced all kinds of stages, I think is the ground of my confidence." also "there will never be a next BTS"

The band on Zach Sangs show, they were called 'Forever in your Mind'. Ironic right? And after Jimin getting his record breaking number 1 and should have also been in the top 10 in week 2, Billboard has now changed the rules on how they count song purchases. As BTS as a group or solo cannot rely on radio spins they have to rely on ARMY and purchases and streaming to achieve chart results. So now this not only impacts BTS but any other non-English speaking act who cannot get radio play. Surely it is better to count votes from loyal fans making purchases rather than counting 'pay for play' radio spins paid for by music corporations? Whether they chart or not, whether they win a trophy or not, whether they are excluded from Spotify lists or not, all due to underhanded methods in the US, ARMY will still make sure BTS are the biggest band in the world. We will not let BTS be ignored!💜

This is why I do not understand some ARMY who completely disrespect BSB saying "they can't hold a candle" to BTS in some other reaction channels that heard BTS for the first time and grew up on the 90s and early 2000s listening to BSB. Yeah! We tried that, but I think the plan got derailed because there were some requirements needed for a radio station to be considered valid towards the charts, such as longevity and support by actual labels/corporations. I did see some updates on this on Twitter so I'm not 100% sure that the idea is completely scrapped - it'd be great to see this come to life for sure, especially because ARMYs can actually support and keep it alive. Like what we did with Stationhead (an ARMY fanbase account hosting a streaming party on their platform turned it from an underrated streaming service to now, where BTS themselves and other Kpop groups are actually having official activities to interact with fans through it) 💜

I thought so too but as fans the only thing we can do is send presents and ask pretty please that they play BTS. I think their own label are the only capable to do that and sending money under the table as labels do, but that's considered payola(Wich is "ilegal" but literally every big artist does it)and you know how this could back fired on the boys reputation. The only time when they had SOME consistent plays was in 20-21 when they were under Sony and working along KZbin to promote the reels. Sony clearly had some sort of deal because the minute they left, our streams became WEIRD and hasn't stop since.

It was so upsetting to watch this and see the complete racism, hatred, and xenophobia these boys faced in the music industry. I'm a 59 yr old who fell into BTS during the Covid Era. It was a time like me when many others were experiencing sorrow and depression. As I began to follow them and listen to the lyrics of their songs it really touched a chord. I started to learn more about them and their journey. You are correct when you said they are an anomaly. Bts rose quietly and by the time the western industry could realise they already were big...they still tired various ways to throw them out of the industry by not giving them radioplay, billboard changing rules,award shows not giving them their deserved awards etc. but bts and army never gave up... slowly slowly both the artist and the fandom overcame and they themselves found a way........so now since Jimin as a soloist debuted, the industry is already on his back to throw him out.... KZbin deleting views, Spotify filtering his streams to make him lower on the charts also splitting his songs so that he won't stay in top, billboard deleting his 100k sales so he will be humiliated......i sometimes feel it's really bts and army vs the world😢.......i am excited and also kind of nervous about 2026....no one is ready for that.

I said it during the live stream and I'll say it again. All these labels/media/companies etc get so focused on this idea of "filling the void" or "we need to find "the next **insert group here**" that we get this group or that group rammed down our throats and this has been going on for decades. Groups are often pitted against each other to the point where (at least for me) it just puts me off even wanting to check X, Y or Z out. Something I have always been curious about is why this only seems to happen with "boy groups" and "girl groups"? Maybe because the mindset of the industry is that "boy/girl" group fans are superficial and will just jump from one camp to another regardless? Thinking about that often makes me frustrated! Anyway, the whole industry needs to catch up with the times and realise that people are much more savvy and informed when it comes to such tactics and quite frankly the whole BS system. Speaking as 1 ARMY in a sea of millions - I love BTS, I love each member and their individual and group talents and charms. I love BTS & ARMY, they enhance my life and that is something that the industry/media cannot ever manufacture/replicate. Borahae 💜

Lol, these guys that thinks they're superior to BTS just because they speak English and have American label hahahahaha. It's ridiculous to compare them, if ever they'd have a showdown against BTS they won't stand a chance, BTS like other kpop bands had sacrificed their youths practicing their skills. BTS could sing in English and do a cover of their songs just fine because I don't see how that's gonna be difficult to BTS. But I'd like the other band try covering BTS songs I bet they can't. They can't speak Korean, and probably can't do high notes like Jimin, Jin, V and Jungkook. And I bet they can't rap as well as our rap line. I'd also want to see them try singing while dancing ON or BLACK SWAN live performance. I'll bet it's hilarious.

Those guys saying that they can't go to a concert where they don't understand what the singers are saying is a complete ignorant. Why? two reasons: first: he calls English "American" (that language doesn't exist") and second, USA musical industry would be a total failure if people who don't understant English decided not to listen to songs they don't understand. He forgot that there are subs in almost all languages, sites that offer translations, that most of Armys are learning Korean (we have enough brain cells to do it) and, not less important, music is an international language!

I think is funny because many people that try to replicate BTS's success don't see them as artists, they see them as a boyband that is under the control of their label, have no control over their own stuff and their success is a marketing strategy. But if you see their journey, you’ll realize that they have an entire artistic process, they go through different phases, they grow, and they nurture their craft, they experiment and discover new ways to do their music, just as any artist (regardless of which kind) does. Thinking that BTS is a mere boyband is mediocre and lousy. Just as Boracity Magazine said in another video, ‘To replicate bts level of success and artistry takes YEARS to do’, it is not just about having a good singing voice and being attractive, is about adding artistic value to your craft. I once heard someone say that BTS is not a typical boyband because, different to other groups where you can always pinpoint the Justin Timberlake or the Beyonce of the group, you can’t with BTS because they all are the Beyonces’ of the group. Which speaks of the amount of artistic input and freedom each member has inside the group. Anyway, love your reaction! Tons of love for you!

no ''a proper boy band'' is correct, do you know what the billboards just did to jimin for 'like crazy'. he was competely downgraded on the chart to #45 and they deleted his sells no#. for his album 'face. i like your response to this documentary, thank you for watching this. just like there will never be another elvis or michael jackson, there will never be another bts, so all 'boy groups can forget about trying to compete with bts and stop ''hating on them. the music industry in america will continue to 'bash bts because they can not make money off of them, except on a collaboration. it is kind of strange to always hear the bts members say ' i will work harder and get better'', and their tone sounds so apologetic. i look at bts and say, 'better at what', i watched the 2019 mma awards performance and i was exhausted and needed to drink water. recently jimin said about his 2 new mv's 'like crazy' and 'set me free', ''i will work harder and get better''...'damn did he watch set me free, i did. but, i can understand, the true artist is never satisfied with there works. the creator of this commentary was correct, bts creates art and the lyrics give you 'food for thought. all upcoming groups must think 'art first' and money, fame and girls are last on your list if you want to be 10% as good as bts. 💜

for me the term to describe bts as a "proper boyband" is incorrect because when I think of a boyband I think of Boys/men dancing and singing, or in one direction's case goofing around and singing, but also being stiff in their overall execution of their performances even with the boybands who came back together after a long hiatus.. And to make a point about the dancing... its mainly stereotypical boyband dancing whereas bts is quite unique in their execution of their dances to their songs... BTS isn't like that to me... yes they have musical instruments that play live in their concerts (which adds a cool element to their overall performances) but for the most part they don't use any sort of instrument all they use is their voices... and their dancing is unique because to me it has a quality that traditional boyband groups don't have which is the contemporary background in a lot of their performances... and what's cool about them as well is that they translate well to live performances from the music videos which add another element to their concert performances or live performances for talk shows... Something Korean boy/girl groups execute extremely well is the visual aspect of a performance they can take scenes from a MV and translate it into live performances which add to the audience's enjoyment of the concert and engagement in the concert either live or on screen

BTS are in a class of their own and always will be. The fact that while yes, their English tracks are popular, I believe the majority of ARMY all over the world, prefer their Korean music. How the heck does that happen? I guess in the same way that they have opened up so many of us to musical genres that we previously had no interest in, in my case hip hop and rap (and "boy bands"). Their music can be appreciated on so many levels but the deeper you go the better it gets. BTS is a phenomenon. The stars were aligned for 7 talents to come together into one group. Each member does it all (sing, rap, dance, compose, produce, etc.) and does it so well. This makes their creations exponentially better. That’s why they are unmatched. Were the Beatles or the Rolling Stones really called a “boy band” (not always considered a good classification)? How about Aerosmith? I’m older and I’ve never heard of them referred as that. While some of the ‘boy bands’ may dance as well, generally their music is created by someone else and they just sing it, but that’s pretty much it. BTS are artists, musicians, dancers, and much more. The original creator of the video comparing them to “boy bands” seems like she just doesn’t “get it.”

JC Chasez of NSYNC on BTS: "I really like it... The dancing is absolutely incredible when you watch the performances these days, and how they’re tricking out their performances. As an Asian myself, I felt personally attacked even though what was being said (by whatever American or whatever other boy bands had to say) didn't have anything to do with me directly. Also, I'd say any artist is already ignorant if they can't understand that the reason why music is so powerful and resonates with all of us is because it goes beyond any barriers including geographical, cultural, and language barriers. I mean how could you not understand and accept that fact when you're an artist yourself. I think that just shows that the artist(s) may not dig that deep into the idea of music and its purpose even though they themselves put out music. That's why music is art and is special. You don't need to understand the lyrics to love a song. Of course, it might help to know what they're saying in their lyrics and it might take a bit more effort to find the lyrics to songs that aren't in your native language, but there is more to a song than just its lyrics which people can also fall in love with. Also, about finding the biggest boy group and girl group, I'd say it's completely fine and understandable if they meant in terms of each geographical location. But to say you will find the biggest boy and girl band in the world is a bit too much and shouldn't be worded like that or meant in that regard. If you want to find the biggest band in your geographical area, that's great. Otherwise, you should at least acknowledge BTS or have them on your radar before knocking them out of the picture for biggest band in the world.

when he said "I don't understand what they're saying" a very shallow reasoning of someone consider himself as an artist! haha since when listening to a "music" starts with words/lyrics! As a normal human being I appreciates either the sound, the beat or melody first before I would want to know what the song is all about. For me BTS is not just a "boyband" they are artists through and through and their songs are not just made coz its "on trend" it's their life & vulnerability, their struggles & how they're coping with it on a daily basis. They aren't there on stage just to sound & look cool & grand or just aiming to be the "best boy band/group". People love, recognize & acknowledge their music/songs coz people relates to it. Ugh! and the smart dude kept saying "sing American". . . really??? ohhh he means English hehe sorry I'm dumb!

The fact that as fans we must be dumb and not I don’t know smart enough to find out what the lyrics say. Like there aren’t translations out there. Would he say the same thing to a non-American(🤦🏾♀️) speaking fan listening to say Beyoncé and singing her songs in English. When MJ sang Man In the Mirror and non-English speaking fans we crying and singing along think made they had a clue as to what he was saying and singing about!!!!! BTS is a mindset, a movement, and it is history in the making. They will be taught academically one day. BTS army is there to support and protect the boys. Unfortunately, the rating hungry, unknown bands with zero impact had such entitlement in their tones! Their comments were so shallow and egotistical. BTS has given us the joy of truly falling in love with what music today should be about. We got you BTS, army has integrity, loyalty and deep respect for the boys and will forever protect them. BTS is love. I'm glad frivolous people don't understand them. Thank god.

Its not just about time spent practicing. In 2016, BTS was only together for 3 years and they had that IT factor which drew so many to them. What the American music industry doesn't understand is, first and foremost the work ethics of South Korean artists. It all starts there. BTS worked incredibly hard to hone in and further develope the natural talents they already had. Second, is natural talent. Some people think, if one practices hard enough, they can become great at it. While it's true, with hard work and lots practice one can reach its full potential but in most cases, that's not good enough to become world class. The members of BTS had a head start on most because they had natural talent. Its like believing if you practice hard enough, you can be as good as Michael Jordan in basketball. No way. Third is their natural good looks. No matter what some fans say, if BTS was a bunch of overweight, ugly dudes, there is no way they would be as popular, just the facts of life. Fourth, is their personalities. They are very good natured, charismatic and humorous people that put out the positive vibes that makes others around them feel good. Magnetic personalities. We all know these likable and amiable types. Fifth reason as to why BTS is so well loved, it's their chemistry with each other and how well they work together. They truly love one another and are the best of friends. And this shows whenever they are together and performing. This commeraderie is contagious and fans feed off it, makes their audience feel euphoric and happy watching this type of joy, happiness and laughter. Sixth and final point for BTS incredible popularity, is they truly appreciate and care about their fans. Which is why Army loves them so much and are entirely devoted to them. Now if you can find another band with all these attributes and chemistry then they too will have an opportunity and potential to become something Big. But good luck finding that combination as BTS type of bands only come around once in a generation. The closest being the Beattles over 60 years ago.
@maeum_maeum Жыл бұрын
Not all of them had natural talents , jin wasnt near a good singer at all samw for dancing . Same for jhope and his rap , same for jimin and singing . Alot of skills they have now they got from practice and learning . You dont need natural talent to become good at something
@Hqmptynpw Жыл бұрын
@@maeum_maeum Yeah, you do need natural talent. When you say that Jin, Jimin and JHope didn't have natural talent, you're wrong. They may not have had it to the extent of someone like JungKook but believe me the talent was always there. It took a lot of practice to draw it out. And thats the difference, no matter how hard you or I practice we wont ever sing as well as Jin or Jimin or rap as well as J Hope. Sure you, me and anyone else can become much better at it but not good enough to become beloved world wide entertainers. Everyone has a ceiling and some are much higher than others, and even if we put the same amount of practice, it can never be good as others with a higher "natural" ceiling. I discussed Michael Jordan before but initially did you know he wasn't even good enough to make his high school basketball team. But the natural ability was always there, it just took lots of of practice to draw it out. Again, that's the difference.
@maeum_maeum Жыл бұрын
@@Hqmptynpw natural abilities and talents dont need to be drawn out . If you have it you have it immediately .
@Hqmptynpw Жыл бұрын
@@maeum_maeum Then why did Michael Jordan and many other eventual greats initially ("immediately") fail at their given professions? No, sometimes in order to get to the gold or oil you have to really dig further down. And it's the same with talent. You have to work hard to reach the full potential and some peoples full potential (natural 1talent) is better then others. And that's why 2 different people can practice equally hard at something for 3 years and one will still be better then the other. No matter how hard you or I try, neither one of us will ever be good enough to make the NBA because we don't possess the natural talent that can ultimately get great enough to play for an NBA team. Just like we can never be good enough to be a member of BTS.

BTS has a relationship with each other and us ARMY that most American labels will likely never understand. To them, it's all about numbers, trends, and making bank. "Looking" and "sounding" good, but not really putting in the effort. Most of the time, American artists don't even dance on the stage. They don't include their fans in on practice time or invite them behind closed doors to witness their vulnerability. But with BTS, it's about being true to yourself, supporting each other, being genuine, kindness, fighting for your passions *together* and never giving up, even if something isn't going well. There is a real sense that this is FOR US as much as it is for themselves. Audiences want *real* connections with the artists they love, and that's what we have with BTS, who have thrown open the doors to their hearts. We see the painstaking hard work behind their performances and love them even more for it.

I have always considered BTS as a Crew, like old school hip-hop crews, some dance, some rap, some do the beats, etc. What is also very interesting is that Brockhampton, which is basically considered by all as a classic CREW, name themselves a BOY BAND, and shares a lot of similarities in the themes they use in their lyrics etc.. and NOW all the members talk about THE TEAM when they talk about the group. It may seem these little words are just details, but I found it fascinating how the perspectives on these kinds of groups are changing.

BTS doesn't seem to get played on UK radio. I find this sad, and it's unrepresentative of their success of the group. I've actually come to the group at the age of 60+ only this year , 2023, and am not a screaming idolising fan, but do appreciate their hard work, their skill, and the humble way they credit their fans who have grown with them and supported them all the way. Now on hiatus, as S Korean military service has rather interrupted things for them as a group of seven, the group members have been, and are, involved in solo work/collaborations. I've not yet heard much of the first four to do this, but the lyrics alone to Suga's 'Snooze' are amazing deep-meaning poetry! - Even if you don't care for rap, switch off the volume and read the lyrics! BTS can sing in their own native Korean which (as a sung language particularly) sounds beautiful. They also sing in Japanese and English. Just how many 'English speaking' 'boy bands' do that, or would even bother to try to the extent these men (not 'boys' any more!) do?

One of the reasons they have become even bigger in the last few years is because fans can connect to the music and the group members themselves. (And people discovered them during Covid. ) Many times the rhythm of the song makes it popular ,and the lyrics also. What makes BTS different from US or other countries groups is that they do hard choreo while singing. Its a long list of so many different things that makes someone so popular.its kind of hard to explain exactly why,part of it is just the group or persons charisma,personality that draws people.

I just observed how that boy band being interviewed had no sense of give and take. They spoke at the same time or did not give the other members a chance to answer or say what they had to say. And bec of this, we did not get the thoughts of the guy on the right. This is where BTS differs. Altho, they usually let RM speak as their leader but RM always asks the other members what their thoughts are. No one BTS member tries to steal the limelight, that is exactly how a TEAM should be and that is why we love them.

Never heard of CNCO, Have heard of Forever in Your Mind, but only because their members threw hate at BTS until ARMY called him out. (As shown on the Zach Sang show clip you saw). Also, never heard of any of the other boy bands listed in this video. I always liked the Jonas Brothers, but never really considered them as a “boyband”. It’s sad and an illness that the music industry is obsessed with their own power so that they out excellent musicians not under their control. So fed up with their corruption! Artists deserve better! Levels is by Avicii. (It’s in my music library) I have heard of The Wanted, but didn’t know their backstory 😭 Good for them! Thank you for reacting to this video, it is excellent how you noticed the main theme towards the end! I agree that the other bands had the backing and the funding, but lacked the artistic ability to surpass BTS. BTS is the uncontested best. I wish the music industry could be more honest about their talent and see us (BTS + ARMY) for the movement we are.

There is no other band that can touch BTS especially if it were an American Boy Band now because BTS's work ethics. They love what they do and really want to bring it to their audiences and Army. They are very polite and just good guys. It doesn't matter that they are Korean. They are the best at what they do. The language doesn't mean a thing as the music is just great even though i don't understand what the lyrics are i love their songs. They are beautiful in everything they sing. Just wish American Radio would start playing their music and stop being so selfish as music is for everyone not just Americans.

what they don't really understand is that today the world is globalized, more technological, today with Internet access (different from the 90's) we overcome the language barrier, yes, it is possible to sing in Korean, understand Korean, speak Korean, who still thinks good music is only sung in english really lives in a bubble. sure not everyone likes it, but you have to have respect, and lately to surpass BTS just by being BTS. I loved your video💜💜💜💜

Have in mind though that English (especially american) music also in the 90s was and still is foreign to a lot of places. Even back in the 90s and early 00s when I was a kid and didnt understand a word of English till I started learning it in 5th grade we still sang along, although sometimes with wrong lyrics but who cares heheh. So for a lot of us for decades when you look at it the language barrier wasnt an obstacle to enjoy foreign music, be it in english or other languages that arent spoken in other peoples countries. Today it is just easier to google the translation within seconds.

I feel in love with BTS in 2016. I'm in the US live in Denver Colorado. So far don't know of any of these other bands. Jones Brothers I have heard of. As a person I DO NOT agree with this proper boy band being white. Its the music and the message of a Band that I am looking for. But unfortunately look what Billboard has done to Jimin. They took him from #1 to #45 in one week even though the numbers disagree. For this I no longer follow Billboard or The Grammy's for the same reason. Army is 1.5million + Strong. And there is no Band no matter we're the band comes from that will ever match BTS. BTS has already surpassed The Beatles. As for the language we Google the Songs and read the words in English so that we understand what is being said. Unfortunately this little boy is right. BTS music is not played on the radio unless you request it. I think it's great that each member is doing there own thing with support from the other members and Army. I can't wait until 2026 when BTS our 7 Kings come back together. Be well and keep safe everyone.

The thing is, is that these artist not only do they not respect BTS they don’t respect boy bands in general they don’t respect themselves as Artists. Because if I want to be in a boy band I would want to study the most successful boy bands I would want to know what they’re doing to be successful. I also would have respect for other boy bands for the most part because that’s the art I’m creating.

Also I totally agree that radio is old and tired. Glad I found your channel.

I think the last boybands I know for sure internationally are One Direction & The Jonas Brothers. I love their songs. These new boybands I have never heard of them until now. And now we all know why they didn’t make it in the industry. As an ARMY, its expected that we get to learn what standards of an artist are. It’s not just about the music, it is also the attitude, good behavior & being genuine as an artist towards their craft and their fans. The passion, the creativity… which most people found in BTS. Despite of the racism and bushing thrown at them, you never heard them getting back at them. Instead the revenge that they did was to prove that they can do better which is a big slap to those people who degraded them. I’m sorry but there’s no one like BTS and you can’t blame the people to like them. Do your research and stop being an ignorant.

As an American, I am embarrassed. Ignorance is bliss with people who do not like BTS. If you do not understand 1 word... the musicality, cadence, visuals and dancing should blow your mind.
